2. CHARACTERS

3. María Clara
• A woman well-regarded in San Diego for her high social
station.

4. Ibarra
• A wealthy young man of mixed Spanish and Filipino ancestry who has recently returned to
the Philippines from Europe after spending seven years studying abroad.

5. Father Dámaso
• A Spanish friar living in the Philippines, Father Dámaso isan arrogant and pedantic priest
who, despite having lived amongst Filipinos and hearing their confessions for over twenty
years, is barely able to speak or understand Tagalog,the country’s native language

6. Elías
• An outlaw and vagabond revolutionary who resents the power the Catholicchurch and
Spanish government have over the Philippines.

7. • Ibarra just finished his learning in Europe and came back after 7 years
, When he got there “Captain Tiago”(Don Santiago his family friend)
and his family threw a welcome back party, one thing is Damaso is
here.

8. • The next day Ibarra went to see Maria Clara and they had a meeting
and Ibarra wanted to study abroad so he did, Guevara a civil guard
uncovered one of the guests of the party Damaso to the “INCIDENT”
about Ibarra’s father’s demise Don Rafael a rich “hacendero”.

9. • Don Rafael was falsely charged for being a heretic and a subversive by
Father Damaso and he hated Ibarra’s father so he made him help him
in a dispute with a tax collector and a child and Damaso put the
blame on Rafael on the murder, and Rafael was in incarcerated (put to
jail) and died of illness in jail then Damaso's undertakers dug up the
body after being buried but threw it into the lake.

10. • Meanwhile Ibarra was thinking to open up a learning institution in
legacy of his fallen father and was almost killed by a hired assassin but
Elias had saved him , and then the assassin fell ill and died of illness
the next day, and Ibarra almost cut Damaso and Damaso said to
Maria to not marry Ibarra and instead to marry Linares a peninsular
Spanish guy.

11. Then Later on Damaso with the governor-general now has the power
to ruin Ibarra by fooling the Spaniards that Ibarra is the mastermind of
the church and Ibarra was sent to jail after an immediate uproar after
being mistook for someone, then Tiago was prepping the wedding of
Maria and Linares then Elia helps Ibarra, before leaving Ibarra blames
maria who’s he think’s is why he’s in jail now but maria said she was
not the one and never call them to Ibarra and they exchanged letters
and Ibarra left

12. • Some time passed maria thinks Ibarra’s dead by now in the shooting
incident but Ibarra lived the shooting And it was Elias who acted as a
bait saving his life for a second time, and then at the eve just before
Christmas, Elias woke up with open gun shots and came to Ibarra and
showed his mothers remains and requested Basilio to cremate Elias‘s
body and Ibarra’s mother remains
