Toucans are brightly colored birds that live in the forests of Central and South America. They have large, colorful beaks and measure between 29-63 centimeters long. Toucans live in tropical rainforests and jungles from sea level to 3,200 meters in countries like Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. They are threatened by habitat loss as forests are destroyed by humans and by being captured and sold as exotic pets. Laws have been introduced in some countries to protect toucans and prevent their capture and trade.
