On May 17th, 1994, Jing Huang was born in Guangdong, China as an only child under China's one-child policy. While her father held traditional views favoring boys, Jing's parents loved her and raised her like a boy. Jing found her passion for singing at a young age and joined her high school choir, where she learned how to embrace her identity as a girl while making lifelong friends. She later continued her singing and academic career at Pepperdine University as part of the Women's Chamber Choir.
