Media and Information Literacy Skills of Senior High School Students of Andre...YogeshIJTSRD
Media and Information Literacy MIL refers to the essential capabilities embodying knowledge, skills and attitude that permits people to actively participate with media and other information providers effectively and enhance skills in critical thinking and lifelong learning to socialize and participate in various societal activities. The research determined the level of Media and Information Literacy among Grade 12 students of Andres Bonifacio College. Using the Iranian Media and Information Literacy Questionnaire IMILQ , a descriptive survey research was used in the collection of data. Out of 289 Grade 12 students of Andres Bonifacio College, only 168 students were taken as a sample and were further grouped according to gender and career strand. Sampling method was categorized random sampling. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that the mean level of Media and Information Literacy among Grade 12 students of Andres Bonifacio College students was 3.01 interpreted as Good, and is higher than average . The highest mean was learning new subjects with 3.25 and the lowest mean was the use of Boolean operations in the research with 2.54. There was a significant mean difference in the levels of media and information literacy when participants were grouped according to career strand. The results showed that the students especially from the Technical Vocational Livelihood track – Information and Communication Technology did not have enough skills in starting the research, finding references and other media and other information resources, defining the research subject as well as the use of Boolean operations in the search. Generally, students, librarians and education practitioners should pay special attention to factors affecting in improving Media and Information Literacy level of students as a main capability in using printed and electronic resources for research and for other academic purpose. Towards a Framework for XR Ethics - Kent Bye, AWE, November 11, 2021Kent Bye
For all the ways that immersive technologies can be used for good, they can be used for evil. This talk will provide some conceptual frames for making sense of the landscape of XR ethical dilemmas including human rights principles, tradeoffs between contextual dimensions, and mapping relationships between techno-social, political, and economic domains. This talk will be reporting back on some of the work done by the IEEE Global Initiative on the Ethics of Extended Reality, as well as provide insights into how to integrate ethically-aligned design and responsible innovation best practices into your experiential design process.

Artificial Intelligence is the use of advanced forms of machine learning, including neural networks. It has been in existence as a concept since Turing and von Neumann explained the techniques of data processing. When we talk to policymakers about AI regulation we face a very similar problem as with cyberlaw and network neutrality. It is undefined, as revealed in the inadequate European Union AI Act in draft. Legal technology history requires this primer on the good/bad lessons of cyberlaw & network neutrality history versus AI unregulation. There is a contemporary comparison for AI regulation via ethics with disinformation and electronic privacy policy, all largely unenforced and left to ethical codes of conduct. Some differences exist, but cyberlaw and broadband policy provide good comparisons with AI policy, because all are broadly general purpose technologies that must eventually be regulated. I argue in conclusion that effective enforcement will require co-regulation.

No matter the size of your enterprise, technology has both tangible and intangible benefits that will help you make money and produce the results your customers demand. Delight 2015 | More Than a Feeling: Designing for Digital ComplexityDelight Summit
This presentation was given by Erin Moore from Twitter at Delight 2015 on Oct. 5, 2015.
Designing and building products that have a meaningful impact on people’s lives is an exorbitant amount of work. Yet products that do this successfully are the ones we return to again and again. Despite their complexity, these products make interactions with others and environments seem effortless, desirable—and even addictive. How do we as designers do the hard work of creating products that are useful and relevant? What repeatable process can we look toward to solve problems for people whose motivations and behaviors can be hard to predict? Erin will share how coaching collegiate athletics helped her understand complex systems, and how that experience still influences her daily design process at Twitter.

For 25 years or more we have fought the battle of passwords and patches while all around us, the world has developed, data has exponentially increased, attack surfaces are everywhere and technology had quite simply forced the human race to consider the evolution cycle in single lifespans as opposed to millennia. During the last 25 years we have done little to protect the charges we are responsible for, we have failed to secure systems, allowed financial attacks, infrastructure attacks, and now attacks directly against humans. At what point will we be able to stem the bleeding and actually take charge of our realm? Have we left it too late, or are we still able to claw back out of the abyss and face our adversary in a more asymmetrical defensive manner? Can we actually provide safety and security to our charges or will we continue to fail? And, critically, how do we communicate this, and educate a population that is content to watch from the sidelines, while they are being digitally eviscerated.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
