Top 5 components of the treaty of Versailles. Germany was made to take all blame for starting the war Germany’s army, navy and air force was made very small and their various weapons were taken away. much of Germany's land was taken away and given to neighboring countries. Land was also taken to create new nation-states. Germany’s colonies were also taken from her. Germany was forced to pay huge fines to cover the cost of the war- because Germany had caused the war in the first place. the Rhineland was “de-militarized’. Germany’s armies were not allowed to reside there. Instead the army of the allies were given the Rhineland to use.
Reasons for Ranking. BLAME: We chose this reason to be #1 in causing WW2 because the German’s pride was wounded, they were made to be shamed in front of the whole world. When your pride is wounded you just want to strike back, even if you’re just proving them right. SMALL: The Allies took away the one thing that made them strong. Its like when you break your arm, you cant defend yourself, and you cant do the things you used to be able to do. The Germans just wanted to “pound” the rest of the world but couldn’t, they lacked the means to do so. TAKEN: When you lose your favorite toy because you were misusing it; you feel angry, because its “YOURS” no one else should have it. When German land was taken away the people were angry because it was their heritage; it was “THEIRS” it doesn’t belong in the hands of someone that’s not a German. FINES: When you break someone else’s toy and have to pay for it, you probably feel that its an injustice, plus now you’re broke. Germany was probably worried about bringing harm to their economy. Who wants to pay $385 Billion in US dollars? Not them. DEMILITARIZED: Once again German land was taken, but not only that, it was given to the Allies –their “enemies”. German people raged again because it was” THEIRS”.
