There are many transparent animals that live in oceans around the world, including glass frogs, barreleye fish, glasswing butterflies, glass squid, transparent zebrafish, icefish, amphipods, larval shrimp, salps, and jellyfish. These animals' transparent or translucent bodies allow scientists to study their internal organs and biological processes in vivo, and serve as camouflage for predators and prey in deep ocean environments with little light.
