Tools used presentation
1. I used the magic wand tool Select a part of the image And and pasted it into a new Layer which overlapped the current layer. This made the masthead fall behind the artist’s face. As I had airbrushed the photo I decided to use the brightness and contrast tool to even both sides of the artist’sface out. I decided to add a shadow to some of the copy on the cover story. I did this using the Drop Shadow tool. I also used the size and opacity tool to adjust the shadow.
2. As airbrushing is an important of aspect of creating the a preferred meaning I decided to airbrush the artist’s face. I done this using multiple tools e.g. The Quick Selection tool and the brush tool. I outlined my selection using the Quick Selection tool. I then used brush tool with a skin colour selected and a low capacity to airbrush the model’s skin.
3. To change a persons eyes I started off with the quick selection tool selecting the whole eye. I then went into the Colour Balance selection and adjusted the settings until I found a colour replacement which I liked. I also used this tool to make the model’s skin more tanned. I simply did this by changing the Midtones to Highlights and once again adjusted the setting until I found a tone I preferred.
4. Making the contents page I used a box tool to create the abstract lines across the page. I used an image from my photo shoot and decreased the capacity this made the photo look more like a background. Most of the tools I used were quite common. I used font resizing tools and horizontal text boxes. I used the background to foreground tool to change font colours according to background colours.
5. Creating the double page involved the most tools. I used tools such as Shadowing, Gradients and Emboss. I used the Bevel and Emboss tool on the copy’ You’ and ‘Much’. This tool makes text more 3 Dimensional. I also used a gradient on the copy ‘As A Kid’. This Tool makes the text look as if it’s receiving light from a light source.
