The Impact Of Nde On Food Industry
Introduction
This report includes role of NDE and examples of application of NDE in food industry. The
purpose of NDE in the food industry is to analyze food quality and safety to ensure a happy and
health customer, and in turn, increase profitability of the producer. Food quality is a sensory
property of food including appearance, taste, nutritional value (nutrient content), health benefit
(functional ingredient) or safety (physical, chemical, biological). Certain basic factors are
commonly used to characterize quality: appearance, texture, taste, aroma, color. Many quality
factors of food are highly relative to physical properties of the products, it s necessary to develop
non destructive methods for evaluating quality based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using low intensity ultrasound to evaluate foods quality was first employed in 60 years ago; until
recently, the full potential of the technique has been realized (Povey and McClements, 1988).
Examples of using of such technologies are found in the location of foreign bodies in food, edible
fats and oils were analysis by the size of droplet in emulsions (Sherwin and Nicol, 1998). Ultrasonic
analysis is based on the relationship between measurable properties of foods including attenuation
coefficient, velocity and impedance, and physical properties of foods containing structure and
composition and physical state. Physical, mechanical, or chemical effects of ultrasonic waves are
capable of altering material properties. For example, accelerating certain chemical reactions through
generation if immense shear, pressure, and temperature gradient in food medium where they were
propagated (Zou et al., 2007).
Ultrasound inactivation of microorganisms
The mostly widely used techniques to inactivate microbes in food industry are conventional thermal
pasteurization and sterilization. Thermal processing does kill vegetative microorganism and some
spores (Peng et al., 2012), however, the effectives of this processing rely on the treatment time and
temperature which are also proportional to the amount of nutrient loss, deterioration of functional
properties of functional products and development of

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Research Paper
Julia Louis Dreyfus, best known for her roles as Elaine Benes in Seinfeld and Selina Meyer in

times on TV, but, how much do you really know about her? Take a look at our remaining seven
little known facts about the actress! Number Seven: She Inspired 30 Rock Tina Fey cites Julia
Louis Dreyfus as the biggest inspiration for her character in the comedy show 30 Rock. Dreyfus

completely fortuity. Seinfeld was all planned out without her, but NBC executives thought the pilot
episode was too male centric, and picket it up under the condition that a woman was added to the

Similarities And Differences Between Lee Lean Yew And Sukarno
IS Essay
Introduction
This essay seeks to compare and contrast the political and economic leadership styles adopted by
Lee Kuan Yew and Sukarno. PM Lee Kuan Yew was the first prime minister of Singapore and
had turned Singapore from a poor fishing village into a bustling first world country, with world
renowned airports and hotels, all through his clear vision as well as his economic policies during
his governance from 1959 1990. On the other hand, Sukarno was the first president of Indonesia
from the time period of 1945 1967. Sukarno was a prominent leader of Indonesia, who led
Indonesia to its independence and created stability within his home country, ending various
rebellions which threatened her. This essay will thus primarily focus on ... Show more content on

The nationalists waged an armed feud against the Netherlands with Japanese weapons in hand, who
had powerful financial reasons for recovering the East Indies and believed that most Indonesians
wanted them to return. Dutch forces made generous progress in Java and Sumatra, but there was
fierce judgement from the United Nations, and the United States encouraged a unanimous
resolution for the situation in Indonesia. A council of 120 delegates assembled at The Hague in
August 1949, under the chairmanship of the prime minister of the Netherlands, Willem Drees. The
nationalist delegates were skillfully led by Hatta. On November 2nd, after nearly a 2 and a half
months of debating, the council reached a в…” majority on a resolution which transferred Dutch
supremacy to Indonesia, with Queen Juliana of the Netherlands as titular head of a new
Netherlands Indonesian Union. Sukarno was recognized as Indonesian president and Hatta as
prime minister. The sensitive question of Dutch New Guinea (Irian Jaya) was put aside for later.
The Dutch unleashed thousands of political prisoners before independence was formally declared
on December 27th. Finally attaining independence, a population of 78 million, an island chain

Web And Content Management Systems
What is WordPress?
It seems that the internet is filled with blogs. That s not an observation, it s a fact. Wherever we
look on the web, we find blogs about everything from AA meetings, to taking the drug Zytiga. For
most people, starting a blog is a daunting process. Without knowledge of HTML and CSS it would
seem impossible, and for the average person, that used to be true. That is until the creation of self
publishing/content management systems(CMS) like WordPress(WP). WP was originally created as
new blogging platform in 2003. It was based on an older, and soon to be defunct, platform called
b2/cafelog. Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little were the founding developers of WP and sought to
take on the platform leader Moveable Type. Now WP powers around 20% of all websites. These
aren t just personal blogs, but corporate news and business sites as well. What makes WP
desirable to is the cost, and ease of use. WP is open source, so the software is free to use with any
hosting providers (as of 2017 only providers that offer an SSL will be able to offer WP with their
hosting). Ease of use comes in the form of using the dashboard to publish content, and style the
website. This is ideal for someone that has no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Giving this
kind of usability to everyone, makes it possible for the average user to make a place for themselves
on the web.
How does WordPress create a webpage? Now that we know a little about what WP is, we need to
understand how it

Ventricular Septal Defect Essay
Ventricular septal defect (VSD)
Definition
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is one of the most common congenital heart defects. During fetus
development, a gap occurs in the heart s lower wall between two ventricular chambers and allows
blood to pass through from the left to the right side of the heart. The blood rich with oxygen,
pumped back to the lungs instead of out to the body and cause the heart to work harder than usual.
Pathophysiology
Ventricular septal defect cause the blood flow move from high pressure, left ventricle, into the right
ventricle, which has lower pressure. Oxygenated blood instead of going to the systemic circulation
enters into the left ventricle and goes into the pulmonary artery and to the lungs. As the result
return of the blood from the lungs to the left atrium and eventually into the left ventricle, will
increase and cause dilation and hypertrophy of the chambers, increases end diastolic pressure, and
raise the pulmonary venous pressure. By increasing the pulmonary blood flow, the pulmonary
capillary pressure also rises and that can increase the interstitial fluid in the lungs, and cause
pulmonary edema. Finally, as blood goes through the gap, from the LV to the RV, away from the
aorta, case the cardiac output to drop,
Incidence
According to the centers for disease control and prevention, congenital heart defects (CHDs) are
the most common types of birth defect among children. Today CHD, mostly VSD, affect about 1%

Analysis Of Tipping The Velvet By Sarah Waters
Throughout time there has always been a great interest in transvestism perhaps this is due to it
being it able to transcend the normative boundaries of gender expression. This essay will focus on
the act of cross dressing and transvestism, as this still remains as a 21st century phenomena with
often transgressed representations. Specifically looking at this representation in Tipping the Velvet

Women had one role within society, which was to marry and take care of their husbands then,
eventually tend to the needs their children. However this changes when Nancy visits the music
hall she is instantly attracted to one of the performers; a male impersonator called Kitty Butler.
After forming a love affair with Kitty, Nancy accompanies Kitty to London initially to assist her
with her costume changes. However Nancy soon has a role within the act and forms a career.
Nan and Kitty s double act becomes popular amongst audiences. On one evening Nancy
encounters Kitty and their manager, in bed together. As a result Nancy leaves her safe
surroundings with only a small amount of money and some of the outfits that they had worn
when performing her act. She soon discovers that London is a not a safe place for an

clothing she has at her disposal as form of masquerade that for a short time allows her to walk
without trepidation. However this masquerade only falls victim to Victorian men who believe she
is a young male and wish to seek sexual services. Seeing that she has the chance to make money.

Sylvia is very brave and she learns to use the other tree beside the great pine tree in order to
climb on to the great pine tree When Sylvia makes the dangerous pass from one tree to another
the great enterprise would really begin. The author gives many examples that show the initiation
and the road of trials of Sylvia climbing the tree. One example is, ?a bird fluttered off its nest, and
a red squirrel ran to and fro and scolded pettishly at the harmless housebreaker.? The author uses
the word housebreaker as Sylvia saying that she is invading the animals that live on the tree and
the animal think that she is an enemy. The author also uses simile to make the tree alive. The
author wrote, ?The sharp dry twigs caught and held her and scratched her like angry talons.? The
author compares the tree to a talon. The author?s language greatly compares Sylvia and the tree
that make this story a dramatic adventure. The passage says that Sylvia has thin little fingers
clumsy and stiff compares to the tree?s great stem. Sylvia did not give up and she climbs until it

The Pros And Cons Of Utopia Or Dystopia
It can be argued that much Science Fiction takes place in either utopia or dystopia; they are the
obvious choices for science fiction as they instantly communicate an alternate situation or
environment. Dystopias particularly give the characters the reasons to act, as there is a very
definite need to create a better society. The first known use of the term dystopiaappeared in a
speech before the British Parliament by Grey Webber and John Stuart Mill in 1868. In that speech,
Mill said,
It is perhaps, too contemporary to call them utopias, they ought rather to be called dystopias or
caco topias. What is commonly called utopian is something too good to be practicable; but what
they appear to favour is too bad to be practicable. (quoted by ... Show more content on

London is occasionally bombarded but people seem to get accustomed to it. On one hand, there
is a scientific development shown by the use of telescreens, electric machines which are used to
shock the traitor, use of scientific weapons, use of bombs, helicopters and parachutes, but on the
other hand, social crisis is projected through loss of individuality and belongingness, lack of
loyalty, the sense of distrust, constant fear and emotionless world. The scientifically developed
world is provided to very few of the members of the inner party. Class inequality is shown through
different quality of the same thing to be provided to the mass and to the members of the inner
party. The mass is constantly deprived of many of the daily needs as against that the government
reduces the price of chocolates. Food stuffs and other daily requirements are either very expensive
or are not available at all. But the developments by the government are so much propagated by them

Iran Blast To The Past
Iran, formerly known as Persia, is a country that has been molded by various events and traditions.
With their customs they have created a legal system that reflects ours here in the United States but
also keeps their religion and culture involved as well. From 1979 and on, after the monarchy was
abolished, Iranhas developed a strict criminal justice system. Their historical and political
background will be discussed, as well as their policing and court systems.
A Blast to the Past
As mentioned above, Iran was called Persia until 1935. In 1979, it became an Islamic Republic
after the revolution. Monarchy was also abolished during this time. Rewinding back to 550 BC,
Iranian empires were ruling locations such as Egypt, the Mediterranean and some places in Europe.
In AD 633, the Zoroastrian religion was replaced by Islam after the Arabs arrived. Bringing it back
to how they run the place now legally, it is based off of sacred law, which is called Islamic law.
This just means they follow a sacred text to live their lives. They follow the shari a law which is

Graphic Designer Strengths
As a graphic designer, there can be a lot of pressure to come out with a unique card that shows
off your skills as a designer while giving potential clients all the information they ll need to
contact you. It can be done if you plan ahead. You might also decide to have a few different styles
of cards depending on what kind of company you re narrowing down in your contacts.
Work within Constraints
When you re working with business cards, you know there are printer requirements like the bleed
specified by the printer. It can vary between 3 mm and 5 mm, so you ll need to make sure you re
aware of the specifications. Often, you ll want to avoid a border around your card because if the cut
is off, you ll have a crooked business card, which is unprofessional.
Special Finishes
For a graphic designer, you ll want to consider using special finishes on your cards. While it can
increase the price, it s a great way to stand out and show your potential clients what you can do
for them. You might decide on special ink like metallics or raised points on the card to be
memorable. The printer has to be able to create the look you need, so you will have to shop around
for a good printer.
Use Die Cuts
Instead of adding to the card, you might want to take away from the card to make an impression.

Analysis Of Prospective Cohort Study Data
Statistical Analysis An objective of the analysis of prospective cohort study data is to compare
disease occurrence in the group to the exposure factors. Disease occurrence is measured using
cumulative incidence or incidence rates, and the relationship between exposure and disease
occurrence is quantified by the cumulative incidence or incidence rate difference and ratio.
Calculating an incidence rate involves determining the amount of person time accrued by each
study subject. Relative risks of each of the variables that are evaluated in the study are calculated.
In addition, a Cox proportional hazard models is used to analyzed the relationship between
environmental and genetic factors and type 1 diabetes mellitus. Persons years were calculated for
all the individuals from the beginning of the prospective cohort study until the end of the study or
end due to loss to follow up. The reasoning for utilizing the Cox proportional hazards models is
because the study has continuous and multiple covariates. Each of the factors need to be evaluate
and compare in order to establish whether there is a relationship between environmental factors and
the manifestation of type 1 diabetes mellitus. Multivariate analysis is necessary to implement due to
the potential number of confounding variables in the study. Multivariate analysis involves the
construction of a mathematical model that describes the association between exposure, disease, and
confounders. This type of analysis is

The Causation Of The Modern Slave Trade
There are endless reasons that human trafficking exists in modern times. These reasons are not
black and white, and have a multitude of contributing factors, cause and effect, and influences. The
causation of the modern slave trade is outlined in chapters three, four, and five of the text: Human
Trafficking: Interdisciplinary Perspectives, written by Mary C. Burke. Chapter three, titled,
Sociological Perspective: Underlying Causes relates sociology to the concept of human trafficking

borders, broadband communication, and economic upheaval to prey on those most vulnerable ...
people are largely defined by their economic worth, and since the most vulnerable have only their

Additionally, chapter four defines population and migration as an explanation for human

opportunistic, and can find a way to manipulate ... population growth ... there is an increase in the

When one feels loved, or when one loves someone they feel happiness. This is essential for leading
good life and creating a positive world. Without love there would be loneliness, sadness and
despair which only negatively impacts our society as a whole. Our families are our first
examples of love. A parent s love for their children is unconditional providing a strong foundation
and a sense of belonging. In the book Antigone Creon forgets about being loving and kind and
instead he was rash and cruel. This is because instead of doing what a loving father would have
done and let his son s fiancee free, he decided to try seem strong and stick to his original decision
even though it was wrong. This is why this story ends in Tragedy. All this could have been been
solved with love. Loving your family isn t the only type of love. People can also fall in love
with someone else and create a relationship. Relationship love makes you feel important and
wanted and gives strength. In the book Anthem, Equality meets the Golden One and they fall in
love. Their relationship is what gives allows Equality the strength to flee his oppressive society
and join the Golden One and start a new, free society. This wouldn t have been possible without
love. Today people fall in love all the time. This can be extremely beneficial to the both of them.
Psychology, people have been proven to be happier in a relationship than being single. Also
financially, people are better off having the support of a partner. This all leads to a better world for
us all to live

attributing factor to the failure of Decent is that he had no clear argument or direction of thoughts

But the most glaring failure was the title. The Descent of Man implies that the book would be

These two characters are very similar with the challenges they face. Auggie in particular has a

reason to prove how similar these two characters are is, they both deal with people constantly
looking at them. Auggie is used to it but it does every once and awhile get on his nerves. While
it also bothers Jessica because people always look at her stump as she calls it. These two
examples show how similar they are while facing reality. And my last reason to prove how

Young People Coming Of Age
In many ways, coming of age today is much the same as it was in the 1950s and 60s. Young
people in the Valley grapple with most of the same issues we older folks did. But kids of
previous generations were not subjected to many of the issues they are now, and the environment
in which they grow up is quite different. The bicycle as a mode of transportation for kids has
largely been replaced by Mom carting them everywhere. Free time to play outdoors has been
replaced by organized everything. Working to earn what you need or want has been replaced by
fundraising. And as always, there is pressure to conform to whatever the current social norms are.
I ll let the young people take it from there.

Don t get me wrong, it s awesome that as kids we are pushed to work hard and that we are
surrounded by very intelligent people. However, many times it gets to be way too much.
Also, growing up here gives you a relatively naive view on the world. We live in a very rich and
privileged area. We have no idea what the real world is like. I wasn t even going to mention it
because it seemed so normal to me, but the reality is, most people do not have the newest iPhones
and iPads. Most people don t own MacBook pros or have their own Google Glass. It s not normal
for your high school s parking lot to be filled with cars that cost over $30,000.
There is a huge divide between the wealthy and the working class, and the area is extremely
expensive. Our teachers can t even afford to live in the area. Some of them drive over 2 hours
every morning just to get to school. There are also a lot of kids that live in East Palo Alto who
attend Palo Alto High School. Their lives are drastically different from ours. There is a huge
divide between the kids living in East Palo Alto and the kids living in Palo Alto. Although people
are generally accepting, there is definitely this idea of them not being as good as us. If your

The Influence of History on American Literature Essay
A Tale Intended to be After the Fact... is how Stephan Crane introduced his harrowing story, The
Open Boat, but this statement also shows that history influences American Literature. Throughout
history, there has been a connection among literary works from different periods. The connection is
that History, current events, and social events have influenced American Literature. Authors, their
literary works, and the specific writingstyles; are affected and influenced by the world around them.
Authors have long used experiences they have lived through and/or taken out of history to help

Regionalism and local color writings are each specific types of Realism. They worked to record
a distinctive way of life. Regionalism often showed regional dialect, food, clothing styles and
customs of that time period. Naturalism, like realism, works to accurately portray its subject
matter, but naturalism also works to find the scientific theory. Each of these writing styles have
characteristics that make them stand out from one another but they all seem to also have a
common link of showing life realistically of that time period. It is easy to see that current events
and issues of the world around them have had an impact on authors and what they have written
from the stories in this time period. The Native American authors wrote stories describing life
during and after white man came to America. We read Oratory s by two Native American s
COCHISE and CHARLOT. They gave heart wrenching speeches, giving great details into the
history of the tribes and the devastating effect the white man had on them. Author Zitkala Sa gave
us a powerful interpretation of her life as a Indian and how the white s coming to America affected
her life.
The African American authors of this time period wrote stories describing life during and after

1. What are several red flags that E Y either was or should have been aware of in the audit of
HealthSouth?
Overall, there were three red flags E Y was not aware of during the audit. First, they neglected
the 500% net income increase from 1999 2001. This should have raised awareness because
revenues only increased by 5% during that same period. Second, the internal auditors were denied
access to some of the corporate ledgers. E Y should have seen this as being one of the largest red
flags. Third, the audit team failed to properly investigate employee complaints.

Depending on the severity of the fraud, the appropriate response can be different from firm to
firm. A good way to detect fraud would be to listen to information provided by a disgruntled
employee. This holds true unless the employee was disgruntled before the fraud occurred. The
information will probably be false and misleading because the employee has held animosity for a
while. Regardless, you should take the information seriously when it is first presented to you.
5. HealthSouth has sued E Y, and E Y is the target of a federal securities class action suit. What are
E Y s likely defenses against HealthSouth? Against the class action suit?
One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that
the SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the
mere fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly
due to the statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. It sets it at the earlier of (a) 2 years
after the discovery of the facts constituting the violation or (2) 5 years after such violation. Thus,
the DOJ was unable to file criminal charges against the firm because the partner on the audit (G.
Marcus Neas) was unaware of the fraud in 1993.

The Great Divergence Essay
Europe is given special consideration thus far in this class. What made Europe or European
civilization unique in the perspective of some authors? It went from marginal status to powerful
region in a few hundred years. What did this process look like? Be sure to address this at the
various levels (ideological, behavioral, institutional, material etc.). Are there reasons for this
dominance that are more important than others?
Looking back at the world in the past few hundred years, it would have been difficult to imagine
that one day, majority of Western Europewould come to dominate the world in global economy
(Landes, European Exceptionalism: A Different Path, 1998). Frank (2001) described the process of

In such environment, policies of scientific and social inactivity could stand because of tradition or
culture. On the other hand, Europe was geographically set in reduced, closer, but with larger
number of groups, surrounded and separated by small rivers and mountains, thus, governments that
repressed economic and scientific development soon amended their errors or were out done rapidly
(Pomeranz, 2000).
The early western world benefitted from revenues from trading European products to the Eastern
countries (Pomeranz, 2000). High earnings obtained from trading with eastern countries and
sales of slave established seven percent profit per annum, which is a relatively high rate of return
considering the high rate of depreciation on pre industrial capital stocks, which limited the
amount of savings and capital accumulation , stated Pomeranz (2000). Many theories suggest that
the Great Divergence occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later
on became the main factor of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant
advantage for Europe was the vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America
which could be used to grow large quantities of farm products required to sustain European
economic growth and allowed labour and land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. A
great example of this is how England saved approximately 23 25 million acres of agricultural space

Theme of Love in Much Ado and Twelfth Night
AS English Literature Unit 2 (Coursework)
EXPLORATIVE STUDY
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is studied and his Much Ado About Nothing is used to explore the
theme of love. Performances are referred to.
Shakespeare s romantic comedies explore love, the divine passion , in all its moods and intensities.
Most characters in these two plays are in love, find love or seek it. Twelfth Night, reputedly the
most mature of Shakespeare s romantic comedies, weaves several such love stories into an
intricate collage to explore different types of love and its easy descent into pain or folly.
John Gross, in a 1991 review of Twelfth Night in the Sunday Telegraph, said Twelfth Night is about
true love and its egocentric counterfeits. Orsino s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Viola Orsino and Benedick Beatrice loves are comparable, since both are constant, clear
eyed, and more based on a weathered and thorough understanding of each other than on mere
physical attraction theirs is the marriage of true minds . Even true love could be silly though, as
Kenneth Branagh, playing Benedick in his 1993 version, displays in his antics when bitten by the
lovebug; Newsweek, in a 1993 review of this adaptation, aptly judged it as portraying the absolute
absurdity and absurd absoluteness of love.
In comparison, though Claudio is genuinely attracted to Hero, his love seems fickle, jealous and
immature. Claudio, a sensible conventional wooer, first verifies Hero s social and financial
compatibility ( Hath Leonato any son...? ), but their relationship lacks trust and instinctive
understanding of each other. This is the reason Claudio believes Don John s intrigue, though
Hero, being sweet and submissive, remains true to him regardless of his treatment of her. Their
union therefore seems less sound than Beatrice and Benedick s and less acceptable to a modern
audience, which is probably why, in the 2005 Shakespeare Retold version of Much Ado, Hero
declines Claude s second offer.
Sebastian and Olivia s love too, though true, doesn t seem on par with the Viola Orsino and
Beatrice Benedick loves in terms of depth and appreciation of each other. Despite falling in love in

Summary Of Joseph T. Hallinan
Synopsis
In the Introduction, author Joseph T. Hallinan introduces the concept of what types of mistakes
there are and then with each chapter, breaks down these mistakes to the root causes by describing
the mistake and how, we as individuals made these mistakes. As the author describes each mistake,
it is apparent the constructed world that we live in, has the ability of covering these mistakes, even
when, these mistakes are in plain view. This oversight, although, is not so uncommon, as our brain
seems to make things clearer and we are able to remember things that never happened, or forget
things that did happen, even though they occurred right in front of us. As he progresses through the
book, Hallinan describes human beings as partial, overoptimistic, hypercritical, downright irrational
creatures of habit who are blissfully unaware of their limitations, which leads people to make many
simple and horrible errors.
One such simple type of error that he describes is the word unicorns in the place of unicycles for an
article printed the Wall Street Journal. Although both the writer and the editor had reviewed this
article, the error itself was not apparent until after the prints publication. In another instance, in
which a horrible mistake occurred, happened during surgery to remove cancerous tissue from the
left side of a woman s vulva. The attending doctor told the trainee to remove the right side, although

Theology Of Fear Book Review
Fear is an emotion that is common today, both in the secular and Christian camps. Many become

past that then cause fear about future events. How do we know when we should be fearful and
when we should simply be cautious? Overall, the book was excellent, and it offered a strong
approach to understanding fear and how to overcome it. And while I understand Dr. Ken Nichols s
intent, I would be interested in learning how to apply the content of this book in the context of a

outlined in Scripture. I understand that the book was an overview

Meteorological Conditions That Created Hurricane Sandy
Meteorological Conditions that Created Hurricane Sandy
In late October of 2012 many weather factors converged to create Hurricane Sandy, a huge storm
with winds gusting up to 90 miles per hour. This hurricane was unprecedented in modern times,
arriving late in the hurricane season, making landfall abnormally far to the north on the United
States east coast with an exceptionally low pressure and a record breaking storm surge. Sandy also
had among the most kinetic energy of all tropical cyclones on record at 222 Joules, more energy
than category 5 hurricanes, despite just being category 1 because of the large area over which she
spread.
Sandy, like all hurricanes, originated in the tropics. Normally a storm like Sandy would diminish in
intensity as it moved into colder, less energetic waters of the north, however a trough of low
pressure dipping down from the Arctic worked to intensify the storm, actually strengthening it as it
moved northward. Higher tides, because of a full moon, also are credited to an increase in flooding.
Another factor that exacerbated the situation was a block of high pressure in the northeastern
Atlantic Ocean that pushed the hurricane onshore.
There is speculation that climate change may have also have contributed to the storms intensity.
Global warming may have made Sandy wetter and stronger. Hurricanes and tropical storms are
fueled by warm water evaporating into the air. Records indicate that ocean surface temperatures are
up 0.9 degrees

After its birth, glass becomes one kind of useful material in people s physical life. It has one
unique nature that, after some little modifications, it can be qualified to accomplish totally
different tasks, for example serving as windows and mirrors, to benefit the people who use it.
Meanwhile, towards people s mental experience, the communication is similar to glass in nature,
and plays the same role. In such a modern and pluralistic society, the accelerating pace of life and
the increasing amount of information bombardment people s brains; The high frequency of

Oral Traditions and Songs Essay
Oral Traditions and Songs
Some may say that without a written language, literature cannot exist. However, to deny the oral
traditions and songs of cultures prior to the existence of their written languages would deny the
world some of the earliest literature of humankind. Whether passed down through oral or written
means, literature consists of all stories, songs, and poetry every generation loves, inspires, and
passes on.
Early in life children are told stories by parents, siblings, grandparents, and teachers. Those early
years are filled with nursery rhymes and silly stories. Sometimes the caregiver will read from a
book of composed nursery rhymes. Sometimes it is simply a rhyme they heard in their childhood.
Either way such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a matter of fact, many of the nursery rhymes known today got their start through oral traditions.
And more importantly, that is how they are generally passed on through the generations. Even
before they are transcribed, they are uttered and, hopefully, passed on to the next generation. So
although many people find the need to write down such stories so as not to be forgotten, the
nursery rhymes are already a part of literature.
As a young child grows older, parents tend to give the child stories with more meaning. Often
parents fill their child s desire for a story with a moral story. Again this phenomenon tends to cross
cultural lines. Every culture seems to have a set of morals in which they abide. Furthermore they
tend to have stories that demonstrate the moral in action. Young childrenare told such stories orally.
Whether or not the story was written in a book has little effect on the power of it. And whether or
not the story is written down in a book before that child grows up to tell it to his/her child is
irrelevant. The story, told over and over to generation after generation, has become a part of
literature.
Literature is not made up of just stories. Poems and songs can be attributed to literature. Poetry
and songs, like the nursery rhymes of childhood, are also vital to a culture. Sometimes a story is
told in the form of a poem or song. And sometimes a poem or song can be pure entertainment.
However labeled in a culture, the poems and songs

America s Favorite Sport Of The Super Bowl Essay
Another major business decision that Pete Rozelle made that further solidified football as

Nonverbal Immediacy In The Workplace
Introduction
The workplace is not often the first place one would think that you need to convey warmth. In a
professional setting, our society does not often think about the relationships and nonverbals that
express and influence behavior. A virtuous leader is one who will lead their employees to achieve
desired goals. An effective leader that provides job satisfaction is important in the workforce we
have today. High job satisfaction enhances employees psychological and physical wellbeing (Ilardi,
Leone, Kansser, Ryan, 1983) This can in turn influence employee productivity and success for both
parties.
Supervisors can use nonverbals to connect interpersonally with subordinates. The manner in which
supervisors use nonverbals to communicate with their subordinates may be more important than the
verbal content displayed between a supervisor and subordinate. This analysis will examine the
issue of subordinate emotional experience and suggest a solution to this problem by encouraging
supervisors to display immediate nonverbals. (Richmond McCroskey, 2000b, p.195) The following
paper will focus on the ways that supervisors can use nonverbal immediacy to improve
subordinates emotional well being in and out of the workplace.
The Problem
According to etiquette expert and author Oropeza Randall, when employees feel discouraged,
underappreciated, or undervalued it can lead to disconnection and apathy which is poison to the
workplace. (Gausepohl, 2017)

Jeff looks at him with his telephoto lens. Thorwald is nervous and looks back at Lisa, who
manages to compose herself. However, the audience only sees what Jeff sees.
The last shot in the sequence at the point 102:02(shot 24), Joe is looking through the telephoto
lens while Stella looks through a pair of binoculars. An iris forms again showing Joe s subjective
view. Lisa and Thorwald are talking to the police officers.

The Expansion Of Space Architecture
Introduction The collective space vision of all the world s countries at the moment seems to be
Mars, Moon, space colonization, permanent settlement etc. Even Steven Hawking does not think
that humans will survive another 1000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet . Architects
are designing colonial habitats on Mars and Moon creating large flimsy structures for permanent
settlements. But is that space architecture is all about? Just to create a new living environment for
rats abandoning a sinking ship? Obviously space architecture can be something more than just a
permanent habitat in uninhabitable environment. This manifesto argues that architecture in space
could help humanity to maintain Earth as well as to explore other... Show more content on

Certainly it is a great shock to all ecosystems, but it is a long way from uninhabitable. If we do
the meanest things such as nuclear war, pollution of all air and water, greenhouse warming,
complete deforestation, Earth would still be considered as the most habitable planet of the
galaxy that we know. Even post apocalyptic Earth would still be an absolute paradise in
comparison to Mars, the Moon, or hellish Venus. None of these places will ever be more
welcoming than Earth, no matter how bad Earth gets. Even if we have to live and farm under
pressurized domes, we will do it million times easier than the people who do the same on Mars.
And if sooner or later humanity gets the power of terraforming Mars or Moon, we will certainly
have the power of cleaning up whatever mess we made on Earth and turn it into a Garden of Eden.
The latter seems as much easier project. Steven Hawking advocates that having all eggs in one
basket is not wise. Considering the fact that there have been five large extinctions events throughout
Earth s history, spreading out could be logical. But again, this option should be for the most
extreme situation, since the protection of Earth and its children is always comes first. The Purpose
of Space Architecture. The purpose of architecture itself is to improve human life. Due to its
extreme environments, living in space or on

The Styl Style Of Anita Desai
Anita Desai undoubtedly holds a prominent position among the Contemporary writers of Indo
Anglican fiction. She is a bold and experimental Novelist with a new sense and vibrant richness.
Much attention is given to the emotional crisis of her protagonists who live in a chaotic society.
She delves deep to find out the factors responsible for such a despair and attempts to suggest
solutions to overcome it. From her novels, it is clear that she, possesses one of the healthiest and
psychologically most balanced minds in the realm of Indo Anglican fictionand the sanity of her
tastes and attitudes, is almost exemplary, a point worth emulation for her fellow religionists in the
field of writing. As a woman writer she does not profess to be a feminist and yet she voices the
fears and concerns, the hopes and aspirations of her characters in her own artistic way. She is
deeply fascinated in exploring the social structure through the central characters in her novels. She
is a minute observer of the society existing around her, perceiving everything minutely and
delicately so that the situations can be presented in a poetic style.
Anita Desai differs from other Indian novelists such as R K Narayan,
Mulkraj Anand, Bhabani Bhattacharya, Raja Rao in her set of language and ... Show more content

Where shall we go this summer is an intense story of a sensitive young wife torn between the
desire to abandon the boredom and hypocrisy of her middle class and ostensibly comfortable
existence, and the realization that the bonds that bind her to it cannot easily be broken.
Skillful dramatization the narrative is precariously perched between myth and social reality for the
talent itself, as the novel evidences, is exceptional in its inmate sensibility and awareness of the
craft of

History Of The Atomic Model Paper
History of the Atomic Model Paper Philip Wang Over the course of the last 5000 years, mankind s
knowledge has been constantly advancing. Chemistry, a branch of science, has experienced a
tremendous leap and expansions since ancient Greek civilization. One of the major breakthroughs
in the advancement in Chemistry was the creation of the Atomic theory, which laid a foundation for
the modern day Chemistry and future of science. The Atomic theory introduced the idea of atoms,
which are defined as the discrete units of matter. There are five key scientists that significantly
contributed to the Atomic model over a span of thousands of years. They are: Democritus, John
Dalton, J.J. Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, and Niels Bohr. Democritus, an Ancient Greek
philosopher, is widely considered to be the founding father of the Atomic Theory. Democritus
proposed that matter is composed of atoms, which move through empty space. He also proposed
that atoms are solid, homogeneous, indestructible, and indivisible, and that different types of atoms
have different kinds of sizes and shapes, which determine the properties of matter. Democritus and
other Greek philosophers Leucippus and Epicurus, were among the first to propose the size, shape,
and connectivity of atoms. Democritus theorized that iron atoms are solid with hooks (which
locked them in place with each other, therefore creating a solid), water atoms are smooth and
slippery, (which caused them to be in a liquid state),

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Intelligence
leadership. Though not explicitly called intelligence tests, various achievement and aptitude tests
are identical to the earlier IQ tests. The main difference is that achievement tests are designed to
assess what a candidate has learned while aptitude tests are designed to assess one s potential to
learn. The educational, business and governmental institutions using these assessments refrain from
using the word intelligence, as it can be a labeling and frightening word or even cause discord and
objection among the test takers. The College Board has even dropped the world aptitude from the
title of the SAT, now calling it the Scholastic Assessment Test. However, the most common aptitude
style tests in the IQ tradition are the SAT, CAT, GRE, LSAT, and the MCAT.

In the end, choices have to be made and some students turned away, preferably on fair and
objective grounds. Even though commonly used, there are still numerous criticisms of widely
practiced methods of intelligence testing. Many believe that the available measures do not actually
test overall intelligence, but just some of the mental processes of a person. According to the
supporters of this criticism, intelligence is constituted of many other abilities such as wisdom,
creativity, common sense, social skills, and practical knowledge. However, other psychologists
either believe that these are derivative from, or a consequence of, the basic processes that the
intelligence tests measure. It is also possible that these abilities are immeasurable because they are
intuitive and too subjective to be tested for using an objective measure. Others looking at the same
pattern of findings have concluded that the degree of development in the areas that are tapped
depends largely on the environment that the subject has been exposed to which creates a large
number of variable

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using low intensity ultrasound to evaluate foods quality was first employed in 60 years ago; until recently, the full potential of the technique has been realized (Povey and McClements, 1988). Examples of using of such technologies are found in the location of foreign bodies in food, edible fats and oils were analysis by the size of droplet in emulsions (Sherwin and Nicol, 1998). Ultrasonic analysis is based on the relationship between measurable properties of foods including attenuation coefficient, velocity and impedance, and physical properties of foods containing structure and composition and physical state. Physical, mechanical, or chemical effects of ultrasonic waves are capable of altering material properties. For example, accelerating certain chemical reactions through generation if immense shear, pressure, and temperature gradient in food medium where they were propagated (Zou et al., 2007). Ultrasound inactivation of microorganisms The mostly widely used techniques to inactivate microbes in food industry are conventional thermal pasteurization and sterilization. Thermal processing does kill vegetative microorganism and some spores (Peng et al., 2012), however, the effectives of this processing rely on the treatment time and temperature which are also proportional to the amount of nutrient loss, deterioration of functional properties of functional products and development of ... Wherever we look on the web, we find blogs about everything from AA meetings, to taking the drug Zytiga. For most people, starting a blog is a daunting process. Without knowledge of HTML and CSS it would seem impossible, and for the average person, that used to be true. That is until the creation of self publishing/content management systems(CMS) like WordPress(WP). WP was originally created as new blogging platform in 2003. It was based on an older, and soon to be defunct, platform called b2/cafelog. Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little were the founding developers of WP and sought to take on the platform leader Moveable Type. Now WP powers around 20% of all websites. WP is open source, so the software is free to use with any hosting providers (as of 2017 only providers that offer an SSL will be able to offer WP with their hosting). Ease of use comes in the form of using the dashboard to publish content, and style the website. This is ideal for someone that has no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Giving this kind of usability to everyone, makes it possible for the average user to make a place for themselves on the web. How does WordPress create a webpage? Analysis Of Prospective Cohort Study Data Statistical Analysis An objective of the analysis of prospective cohort study data is to compare disease occurrence in the group to the exposure factors. Disease occurrence is measured using cumulative incidence or incidence rates, and the relationship between exposure and disease occurrence is quantified by the cumulative incidence or incidence rate difference and ratio. Calculating an incidence rate involves determining the amount of person time accrued by each study subject. Relative risks of each of the variables that are evaluated in the study are calculated. In addition, a Cox proportional hazard models is used to analyzed the relationship between environmental and genetic factors and type 1 diabetes mellitus. Persons years were calculated for all the individuals from the beginning of the prospective cohort study until the end of the study or end due to loss to follow up. The reasoning for utilizing the Cox proportional hazards models is because the study has continuous and multiple covariates. Each of the factors need to be evaluate and compare in order to establish whether there is a relationship between environmental factors and the manifestation of type 1 diabetes mellitus. Multivariate analysis is necessary to implement due to the potential number of confounding variables in the study. This should have raised awareness because revenues only increased by 5% during that same period. Second, the internal auditors were denied access to some of the corporate ledgers. What are E Y s likely defenses against HealthSouth? Against the class action suit? One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that the SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the mere fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly due to the statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. It sets it at the earlier of (a) 2 years after the discovery of the facts constituting the violation or (2) 5 years after such violation. Many theories suggest that the Great Divergence occurred as a result of trade development from Europe to Asia, which later on became the main factor of the New World. As, Pomeranz (2000) stated, the greatest significant advantage for Europe was the vast amount of fertile, uncultivated land in the North America which could be used to grow large quantities of farm products required to sustain European economic growth and allowed labour and land to be freed up in Europe for industrialization. Even true love could be silly though, as Kenneth Branagh, playing Benedick in his 1993 version, displays in his antics when bitten by the lovebug; Newsweek, in a 1993 review of this adaptation, aptly judged it as portraying the absolute absurdity and absurd absoluteness of love. In comparison, though Claudio is genuinely attracted to Hero, his love seems fickle, jealous and immature. Hallinan introduces the concept of what types of mistakes there are and then with each chapter, breaks down these mistakes to the root causes by describing the mistake and how, we as individuals made these mistakes. This oversight, although, is not so uncommon, as our brain seems to make things clearer and we are able to remember things that never happened, or forget things that did happen, even though they occurred right in front of us. One such simple type of error that he describes is the word unicorns in the place of unicycles for an article printed the Wall Street Journal. • 32. Meteorological Conditions That Created Hurricane Sandy Meteorological Conditions that Created Hurricane Sandy In late October of 2012 many weather factors converged to create Hurricane Sandy, a huge storm with winds gusting up to 90 miles per hour. This hurricane was unprecedented in modern times, arriving late in the hurricane season, making landfall abnormally far to the north on the United States east coast with an exceptionally low pressure and a record breaking storm surge. Sandy also had among the most kinetic energy of all tropical cyclones on record at 222 Joules, more energy than category 5 hurricanes, despite just being category 1 because of the large area over which she spread. Sandy, like all hurricanes, originated in the tropics. Normally a storm like Sandy would diminish in intensity as it moved into colder, less energetic waters of the north, however a trough of low pressure dipping down from the Arctic worked to intensify the storm, actually strengthening it as it moved northward. Higher tides, because of a full moon, also are credited to an increase in flooding. Another factor that exacerbated the situation was a block of high pressure in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean that pushed the hurricane onshore. There is speculation that climate change may have also have contributed to the storms intensity. Global warming may have made Sandy wetter and stronger. So although many people find the need to write down such stories so as not to be forgotten, the nursery rhymes are already a part of literature. As a young child grows older, parents tend to give the child stories with more meaning. Often parents fill their child s desire for a story with a moral story. If we do the meanest things such as nuclear war, pollution of all air and water, greenhouse warming, complete deforestation, Earth would still be considered as the most habitable planet of the galaxy that we know. Even post apocalyptic Earth would still be an absolute paradise in comparison to Mars, the Moon, or hellish Venus. None of these places will ever be more welcoming than Earth, no matter how bad Earth gets. Even if we have to live and farm under pressurized domes, we will do it million times easier than the people who do the same on Mars. And if sooner or later humanity gets the power of terraforming Mars or Moon, we will certainly have the power of cleaning up whatever mess we made on Earth and turn it into a Garden of Eden. The latter seems as much easier project. Steven Hawking advocates that having all eggs in one basket is not wise. Considering the fact that there have been five large extinctions events throughout Earth s history, spreading out could be logical. But again, this option should be for the most extreme situation, since the protection of Earth and its children is always comes first. The Purpose of Space Architecture. The purpose of architecture itself is to improve human life. Due to its extreme environments, living in space or on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. History Of The Atomic Model Paper History of the Atomic Model Paper Philip Wang Over the course of the last 5000 years, mankind s knowledge has been constantly advancing. Chemistry, a branch of science, has experienced a tremendous leap and expansions since ancient Greek civilization. One of the major breakthroughs in the advancement in Chemistry was the creation of the Atomic theory, which laid a foundation for the modern day Chemistry and future of science. The Atomic theory introduced the idea of atoms, which are defined as the discrete units of matter. There are five key scientists that significantly contributed to the Atomic model over a span of thousands of years. They are: Democritus, John Dalton, J.J. Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, and Niels Bohr. Democritus, an Ancient Greek philosopher, is widely considered to be the founding father of the Atomic Theory. Democritus proposed that matter is composed of atoms, which move through empty space. He also proposed that atoms are solid, homogeneous, indestructible, and indivisible, and that different types of atoms have different kinds of sizes and shapes, which determine the properties of matter. Democritus and other Greek philosophers Leucippus and Epicurus, were among the first to propose the size, shape, and connectivity of atoms. Democritus theorized that iron atoms are solid with hooks (which locked them in place with each other, therefore creating a solid), water atoms are smooth and slippery, (which caused them to be in a liquid state), ... • 43. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Intelligence leadership. Though not explicitly called intelligence tests, various achievement and aptitude tests are identical to the earlier IQ tests. The main difference is that achievement tests are designed to assess what a candidate has learned while aptitude tests are designed to assess one s potential to learn. The educational, business and governmental institutions using these assessments refrain from using the word intelligence, as it can be a labeling and frightening word or even cause discord and objection among the test takers. The College Board has even dropped the world aptitude from the title of the SAT, now calling it the Scholastic Assessment Test. However, the most common aptitude style tests in the IQ tradition are the SAT, CAT, GRE, LSAT, and the MCAT. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end, choices have to be made and some students turned away, preferably on fair and objective grounds. Even though commonly used, there are still numerous criticisms of widely practiced methods of intelligence testing. Many believe that the available measures do not actually test overall intelligence, but just some of the mental processes of a person. According to the supporters of this criticism, intelligence is constituted of many other abilities such as wisdom, creativity, common sense, social skills, and practical knowledge. However, other psychologists either believe that these are derivative from, or a consequence of, the basic processes that the intelligence tests measure. It is also possible that these abilities are immeasurable because they are intuitive and too subjective to be tested for using an objective measure. Others looking at the same pattern of findings have concluded that the degree of development in the areas that are tapped depends largely on the environment that the subject has been exposed to which creates a large number of variable ...
