Gensler Architecture ($1.4 b revenues) responded to Hurricane by asking the public to make gifts-donations to their employees ONLY and they'd be matched. Instead of encouraging donations to Red Cross and other non profits, they asked the public to provide financial assistance to just their employees. It's a first in charitable efforts. It's inappropriate, deceptive and probably illegal.

Non-profit organizations are formed to promote cultural, religious, professional, or social objectives rather than generating profit. They can take many forms from charities to universities. While non-profits can generate revenue, this money is reinvested in the organization rather than distributed to shareholders. Non-profits serve functions like charity, education, religion, and trade and rely on donations rather than sales for funding. The key differences between non-profits and for-profits are that non-profits reinvest all revenue, benefit social welfare rather than generate income, and are tax exempt.

Similar to Timothy Higgins: A Brief Overview of Modest Needs (20)
Timothy Higgins is an avid marathon runner who has trained intensively for races in Chicago and New York City, focusing on those for charitable causes. The document discusses maintaining proper hydration levels during marathon training and races, recommending that runners drink 8-16 ounces of water 1-2 hours before a race starts. During the race, runners should aim to consume 3-6 ounces every 15-20 minutes or a cup every two miles, adjusting based on sweat rate or heat. Medical professionals warn against drinking too much water at once as it can be uncomfortable and cause sodium levels to drop, resulting in a condition called hyponatremia from excessive water intake through frequent breaks or large volumes.
Timothy Higgins donates to nonprofits like the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) which helps veterans injured after 9/11. WWP offers peer mentoring where veterans support each other's recovery journeys. Mentors share their experiences to help mentees feel less alone and see that others overcame similar challenges. Mentors are trained to fulfill roles as models, guides, supporters or motivators depending on a mentee's recovery needs.
Timothy Higgins contributes to several nonprofit and charitable organizations. He is also an avid marathon runner who has found a way to combine his passions for fitness and helping others by fundraising for charities through distance running. There are eight types of pace runs that marathoners commonly include in their training to diversify workouts and prevent injury. These include recovery runs, base runs, and long runs, which range from 13 to 21 miles and leave runners fatigued. The remaining five run types involve combinations of paces, such as intervals of marathon pace and easy pace.
Timothy Higgins stays active by running marathons and training for races. He supports Team for Kids and Race With Purpose, where adult runners raise money through training miles for NYRR youth fitness programs reaching over 200,000 students. Team for Kids members are guaranteed entry in major marathons if they sign up early and receive training plans, gear clinics, fundraising help, and perks like private buses and member tents on race day.
National Coalition for the Homeless Warns of Limited Shelter Access Timothy Higgins
The National Coalition for the Homeless warns that many communities do not have adequate plans to provide shelter for those in need during extreme winter weather. The organization, which has worked since the 1980s to end homelessness and protect civil rights of those experiencing homelessness, notes that shelters in some areas only open during certain months or below designated temperatures. However, cold conditions have strained resources while putting many experiencing homelessness at risk of frostbite or hypothermia. The Coalition advises communities to expand homeless services to meet increased shelter needs in winter months.
Your First Marathon: A Few Basic Training TipsTimothy Higgins
Marathon training should begin at least six months before the race and ideally a year or more for first-time runners. If you have little running experience, get into shape mentally and physically by reading about nutrition, stretching, and running basics before planning a short, hazard-free training route. Entering shorter 5k or 10k races can also help prepare beginners for their first marathon through healthy competition.

Team for Kids is a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds primarily for the youth division of the New York Road Runners (NYRR). Team for Kids’ fundraising efforts provide support for community-oriented health and fitness programs for children in New York City, across the United States, and in South Africa. Each year, more than 120,000 children in 600 schools, mostly located in underserved communities, benefit from NYRR’s programs. Many of these children would otherwise have no access to physical education programs, which, over the last 20 years, have gradually been eliminated from public schools in New York and across the country.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.Christina Parmionova
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.
2. As a supporter of Modest Needs, Timothy
Higgins helps the charity assist those in need,
but often overlooked by traditional aid programs.
While there are many charitable organizations
and government-funded services that provide
assistance to individuals and families in poverty,
there is a lack of similar resources for the so-
called “working poor” among us. Modest Needs is
a non-profit that strives to provide assistance to
this segment of needy families, as well as to
smaller non-profits that are trying to gain
traction to help others.
3. Specifically, Modest needs endeavors to save working families in
danger of falling into poverty from permanent instability; assist
individuals who are momentarily unemployed but capable of
work and looking; and lend a hand to persons who are usually
self-sufficient but challenged by temporary medical expenses.
The organization currently provides six categories of outright
grants:
• New employment grants
• Bridge grants
• Hurricane Sandy relief grants
• Self-sufficiency grants
• Emergency funds
• Non-profit grants
