Team for Kids is a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds primarily for the youth division of the New York Road Runners (NYRR). Team for Kids’ fundraising efforts provide support for community-oriented health and fitness programs for children in New York City, across the United States, and in South Africa. Each year, more than 120,000 children in 600 schools, mostly located in underserved communities, benefit from NYRR’s programs. Many of these children would otherwise have no access to physical education programs, which, over the last 20 years, have gradually been eliminated from public schools in New York and across the country.

3. Team for Kids was founded in 2002 with
the mission of helping children establish a
foundation for lifelong physical fitness
while incorporating goal-setting and
character-building education. Adult
runners who participate in Team for Kids,
besides contributing to NYRR’s cause,
receive guaranteed entry into several
premier running events, including the ING
New York City Marathon.

4. Timothy P. Higgins ran the New York City
Marathon in 2006 on behalf of Team for
Kids. Timothy Higgins raises funds for a
number of charitable causes through
endurance running.
