I want us to stop talking about the sender as someone who sends messages to predefined recipients.
I want us to stop talking about messages that have pre-defined layout and content.
I want us to stop talking about recipients that must agree with each possible sender on how to communicate.
I want us to stop talking about how to find the “universal message” that is generic enough so that it can be adapted to any situation (which I believe is impossible).
I want us to introduce new concepts.
I wish that when we talk about the sender, we mean someone who publishes/broadcasts information.
I want us to talk about data streams that are published and documented by the sender.
I want us to talk about subscribers that choose which streams they wish to access.
I want us to talk about exactly what I wanted to try to explain in my last post. Imagine if we had a non-hierarchical, hyperlinked, sender-centric information system!
It started out as a small tremor on the lower decks...Per Olof Arnäs
The document discusses how the transport industry needs to adopt a new digital platform called PubSub to share data using large data flows. PubSub will allow different entities to share operational status information and optimize infrastructure usage. However, there are some obstacles to widespread adoption, including security issues, outdated views, and lack of critical mass. The document provides recommendations to address these obstacles, such as separating business data from operational data and starting small with incremental partnerships.
This document summarizes an AI training program hosted by Pi Campus. The program trains engineers from around the world in artificial intelligence skills and has them apply their new skills on industry projects provided by partner companies. It offers the training for free to top developers and provides grants to cover travel and accommodation for those transferring from abroad. The program focuses on learning by doing through hands-on projects rather than traditional teaching. It partners with companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon to sponsor developers and solve real-world challenges.
The document discusses the digital transformation of the transportation industry from a physical and analog industry to a digital one. It provides examples of how transportation and logistics has evolved from 1989 using analog tools like maps, calculators and paper documents to current digital tools like sensors, internet connectivity and data analytics. The transformation provides opportunities to develop new services by upgrading existing infrastructure and processes digitally. Future advancements could include connected vehicles and goods that can optimize routes and transport in a distributed manner.
Ett föredrag om några trender som påverkar transportindustrin, bland annat digitaliseringen av vår analoga, fysiska värld. Denna för med sig en otrolig potential och kommer att förändra våra liv i grunden, både professionellt och privat.
We are building The Matrix in the transport industryPer Olof Arnäs
A talk about the digitization of the freight transport industry. Technologies like 3D printing, wearable tech and big data are revolutionizing the industry.
The document is a slide presentation discussing how the transportation industry can benefit from adopting a publish-subscribe model. Some key points discussed include how a pub-sub model could allow for more efficient sharing of operational data between different transportation entities in real-time, such as vehicle/vessel ETAs, positioning information, and availability/capacity data. It is suggested that this could improve coordination and planning across the industry. The presentation argues the transportation sector is long overdue for digitalization and adopting more proactive approaches like pub-sub could help modernize operations.
This document discusses possible futures 30 years from now. Global trends like climate change, population growth, and urbanization will shape the world. Sustainability will be a major focus, affecting how people live, work, travel, and consume. Most people will live in cities, where complexity is increasing exponentially. New industries focused on knowledge will compete with traditional ones. Two major trends will be the rise of "Homo Digitalis," with people deeply connected to technology, and increased "prosumerism" with more localized production through 3D printing.

191206 Some experiences from evaluating digital examination systemsPer Olof Arnäs
1) Exams are given both to evaluate student knowledge and to further the learning process by making exams part of the learning.
2) Digital exams can provide benefits like faster feedback, opportunities for rich feedback, and reuse of exam questions, but also challenges around infrastructure needs and developing new skills.
3) The transition from traditional to digital exams will be difficult and institutions should avoid a "big bang" approach, instead opting for a hybrid model to reduce risks in the transition.

Hållbara transporter 2017 - digitalisering Per Olof Arnäs
This document discusses emerging trends that will impact freight transportation in the digital future. It notes that demographic, social, economic, and technological changes are happening outside the freight industry. Examples of digital technologies influencing freight include increased use of sensors and data in vehicles, new modes of transportation like drones, more automation, and the sharing economy being applied to freight. Artificial intelligence and blockchain also show potential to transform operations through real-time decision making and increased transparency in supply chain records.
Things happening in, around, and to freight transportationPer Olof Arnäs
There are a lot of things happening OUTSIDE the freight industry. Some of these are global trends. There are also a lot of things, like digitalisation, happening TO the transport industry. And there are of course also things happening IN the transport industry (like automation, drones, blockchains etc,).
This document discusses big data from the perspective of freight companies. It notes several global trends impacting freight, including demographic shifts, rapid urbanization, and technological breakthroughs. It outlines areas where logistics companies need to develop in relation to e-commerce, including infrastructure, processes, and services. Challenges for the freight industry are also presented, such as low profit margins, fragmented industry, and data silos. The importance of digitalization and real-time decision making using big data is emphasized. Blockchain technology and its potential applications for freight are also briefly discussed.
E commerce and freight transport - Chasing the last mile, one byte at a timePer Olof Arnäs
The freight transport industry is facing large challenges when it comes to e-commerce. This rapidly growing sector has high demands on service and performance from the freight system - demands that are seldom met with satisfaction.
