The
classroom
My thriller will be set in a Japanese style high
school and it is about a strange event that
occurs every 5 years in a specific classroom
(class 3-1). Every 5years something or someone
in the classrooms causes the students to be
killed in freak accidents or driven to insanity.
This ‘thing’ can only kill up to a maximum of 12
people a year (one person a month) and can
be anyone in the class or their direct family e.g.
brother/mother ect. What will make this is a
thriller is the fact that characters don’t know if
they are going to die, waking up everyday not
knowing if they’ll make it to the next one. Every
time this happens a student who survives
records the events in a special diary which the
school then logs. Towards the end of the
thriller the remaining survivors work together
to figure out what or who was causing this to
occur.

MY FILM IS A THRILLER
HOWEVER IT WILL HAVE ASPECTS
OF HORROR AND SUBTLE
ROMANCE TO APPEAL TO BOTH
SEXES.
Mise-en-scene
Costume, hair and make up:
Since my thriller is Japanese/
anime themed the characters
will have crazy or unique
hairstyles and in the typical
Japanese high school clothing.
The females will have explicit
eye make up on e.g. eyeliner,
bold eyes shadow and fake
eyelashes.
Facial expression and body
language:
Typically in Japanese films and
anime’s the females tend to be
shy, submissive and look to men
for safety. However in this film
the main female charterer will
be a dark, mysterious,
independent and logically female
who has a non expressive facial
expression so the audience cant
read her.
Positioning of Characters and
objects:
The objects in my scene will
have a random positioning to
enhance the confusion that the
audience will experience. I want
the audience to be confused and
questioning what is happening
so this will help me with that.
Lighting and colour:
Some parts of my film will have
an over exposure of hi key colour
and lighting to make people will
disorientated and confuse them
due to sudden burst of colour.
However most of it will be low
key lighting and dark/ devilish
colours such as red, black and
grey will symbolise danger.
Iconography of my thriller film:
• Shadows.
• Confined spaces.
• Random dripping taps.
• Street lamps that flicker on and off.
• Weapons such as knives, rope and hypodermic
needle.
• The school fence has bared wired around it.
• My characters running through alley ways and
woods.
Cinematography of my thriller film:
• There will be close up on the weapons that will be
used before they are used e.g. a knife.
• Establishing shots at the beginning of a new scene
so the audience can get to grips with the scene.
• When my character is running there will be an over
the shoulder shot so that the audience can see the
victims point of view.
• When someone dies or is getting attacked there
will be a high angle shot so that the audience can
see the effect of what's happening/ happened.
• Two shots will be used when two people are
having an intense conversation and they will be an
extreme close up on the persons face when they
are saying something important.
