This is a thriller ident idea slide share. Upon creating an opening for a thriller film for my media coursework we also had to create a thriller linked ident. Therefore this slideshow shows a few ideas I came up with for it.
Synchronous sound matches actions on screen, like footsteps. Asynchronous sound doesn't match actions, building tension. Diegetic sound is background noise characters can hear. Non-diegetic sound is added for effect and isn't heard by characters. Sound effects layer atmosphere. Voice over narrates. Background music sets mood for thriller title sequence using missing girl story with ideas like extra car noises and children playing.
The document discusses the various filters and effects used in a title sequence for a movie. It describes applying a "cool tones" filter to give clips a dark, gloomy atmosphere. It also uses a "telephone" audio filter to make news reports about a disappearance sound like they are being heard on TV or radio. Additionally, a "camcorder" filter was used to make scenes filmed by a kidnapper's camera more realistic, while a "bad TV" filter helped surveillance footage and alleyway shots appear fuzzy to imply cheap equipment and a foreboding presence.
The student created a horror trailer that drew from several influences in the genre. Their trailer included body horror scenes of gore and scratches, as well as psychological elements of an unseen demon tormenting the main character. It was set in a house to create tension and used camera angles, sounds, and music to unsettle the audience. The trailer was meant to emulate the style of films like Psycho, Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead, and The Conjuring through its use of gore, jump scares, and an underlying theme of depression and trauma in modern society.
The document summarizes the homepage of the website for the horror/slasher film Hostel. It describes the flashing intro showing a victim tied to a chair and the antagonist holding a weapon. The site is not easily navigated, with buttons that are not prominent. It uses a dark color palette of black, red, and green, along with flickering lighting effects. The images emphasize violence and vulnerability. The text provides basic information about the filmmakers without humor or depth. Links advertise other films more than navigating the site. The poster can be downloaded, and clips are available separately from the homepage. Visuals and tones suggest the horror genre.
This document contains an analysis of two television show trailers:
1) An EastEnders trailer that uses dialogue, sound effects, camera shots, and character interactions to build tension and foreshadow conflict between characters Kat and Alfie.
2) A Skins trailer that uses music, lighting, camera movements, character expressions and clothing to symbolize the transformation of characters and hint at secrets in their past.
The document evaluates both trailers, noting elements that were effective like the use of soundtracks and meanings behind shots, angles, settings and characters. It considers how these techniques could be applied to new trailers targeting 16-25 year old audiences.
The document discusses how the media product, a horror movie trailer, both conforms to and challenges conventions of the genre. It follows conventions like using a mix of dark and light scenes to convey mood, fast cuts to show action, and displaying the production label and release date. However, it challenges conventions by focusing on the story of the killer rather than victims, and portraying the killer in a vulnerable way to elicit sympathy from viewers, aspects not commonly seen in horror trailers.
1) The document discusses audience feedback on a horror film trailer the author created. Classmates provided positive feedback on scenes involving hair being pulled and a changing mirror reflection, and enjoyed the sinister lullaby music and a jump scare.
2) Some felt the narrative was unclear, so the author added a text close-up for clarification. Most then understood the story better.
3) Overall feedback was very positive, with most giving scores between 7-10 out of 10. This showed the trailer successfully fit the psychological horror genre and appealed to its target audience.

Credits over a black screen involve displaying the opening credits of a film in white text on a black background. This simple technique is commonly used to convey bleakness and terror effectively in thrillers. It incorporates the key codes and conventions of the thriller genre by using the contrast of black and white to represent the dichotomy of good versus evil and build suspense and tension from the beginning of the film. As the document discusses creating a horror thriller that starts slowly building suspense, credits over a black screen would be the most effective title sequence approach.
Technical codes and narrative structure of our trailermrcaptainpanda
The document outlines the narrative structure and technical codes used in a trailer for a psychological horror film. It follows classic trailer conventions like establishing shots of the location in the beginning to set the scene, then introduces the main characters of the villain and victims. Tension is built through enigmatic shots of the villain and shots that tease problematic events without showing the full extent. The climax further complicates things through short, teasing shots of victims being attacked. Finally, the "convincer" at the end leaves the audience with a question to encourage viewing the full film. Technical elements like camera angles, editing, sound, mise-en-scene are described to maximize suspense, tension and identify characters.
The document summarizes the opening sequence of a student horror film titled "The Darkness." It discusses how the sequence uses conventions of the horror genre through its title design in red on black, setting of a house, camera work with establishing and close-up shots, inclusion of a ghostly antagonist character, costumes distinguishing the pure protagonist from the dangerous antagonist, and introduction of a lamp as a significant prop. The sequence aims to immediately identify the genre and set up the story of a protagonist threatened in her home at night.
This document contains an analysis of two trailers - a EastEnders trailer and a Skins trailer.
For the EastEnders trailer, the analysis notes the use of voiceover, music, and sound effects to generate tension. Camera shots are used to emphasize characters' fear and power dynamics.
For the Skins trailer, the analysis discusses the non-diegetic soundtrack, voiceover, sound effects, nude clothing transitions symbolizing transformation, lighting contrasting characters, and camera movements focusing on expressions and falling motions.
The evaluation compares the trailers, noting how elements like themes, soundtracks, and technical skills could be replicated or improved upon to engage audiences.
The document discusses techniques for establishing genre, mood, and tone in the opening of an action film. It will introduce the villain character through tilted camera movements and pans that hide their identity and create mystery. Non-diegetic music and the villain's dark costume will communicate the genre is action and set an intense pace. The villain will steal a USB drive from a locked room to set up the plot's central conflict.

This document discusses various elements that appear in movie trailers such as titles, credits, quotes and their purpose. Titles are usually placed towards the end of trailers to leave a lasting impression. Credits include names of actors, directors and producers to attract audiences. Quotes are used to create thrills and fit the horror genre. Social media links appear at the very end for marketing purposes. Credits are placed throughout trailers in a non-linear way and include production companies. Elements like titles and credits are designed to fit the genre through colors, fonts and effects.
The film titled "Slender Man" tells the story of a father searching for his daughter who has been kidnapped by the supernatural entity known as Slender Man. The opening title sequence establishes the urban legend of Slender Man and sets up the family's encounter with him in their home. It then shows the father frantically searching for clues about his daughter's whereabouts as Slender Man tries to stop him. The opening title uses point-of-view shots and unsettling audio to build fear and tension as the father discovers a video of his daughter with Slender Man in the background of the forest.
This document discusses how a media product uses conventions of real thriller films in its opening sequence. It uses a dark background and non-diegetic music for the title to set an eerie tone. For the antagonist character, it uses slow footsteps, handcuffs, and spotlights to indicate he is dominant and has done something wrong. For the protagonist, it uses brighter clips, fragility, and injury to show she is not the villain. It includes close-ups of the characters to provide insight but not reveal too much. It also uses slow fades between clips rather than quick cuts to increase tension. The document analyzes how these techniques develop and challenge conventions of the thriller genre.
Horror movie trailers typically include several conventions to build tension and scare audiences. They often begin by showing a happy family to establish characters before disrupting the calm with a cursed object or paranormal presence. Trailers then cut between quick shots using intense sounds to ramp up fear. Darkening lighting and camera angles that look up at antagonists or down at vulnerable protagonists further increase tension. Trailers conclude by revealing the film's title and release date over a scary clip to leave a lasting impression.

The document discusses conventions of action movie trailers such as fast pacing, dramatic music, explosions, and car chases. The response summarizes how the student's trailer followed conventions through successive fast shots, adding music during climactic moments, and including an explosion at the end. It also discusses how the student subverted conventions by having a low budget and using found items, recording original sounds instead of music at first, and substituting a foot chase for a car chase by incorporating free running.
1) The opening sequence follows a man walking with his hood up towards a house. As he approaches the door, the camera zooms in on him.
2) When the man reaches the house, there is a loud smash on the door that the audience cannot see. The woman inside screams and the screen turns black.
3) All that can be heard is a fast heartbeat, and then the title of the film - "NEXT DOOR" - appears in dripping blood-red text before the screen fades to black.
This document analyzes conventions used in horror film trailers, using three specific trailers as examples. It finds that trailers typically open with the production company logo in a dark, ominous style. Lighting switches between bright and dark to show normal vs disrupted situations. Character appearances use makeup to appear distressed, tired, or abnormal. Shots like low angles make characters seem vulnerable while high angles make them seem less important. Titles usually have a plain black background with white text to suggest something opposite of normal.

The document discusses strategies for attracting audiences to a film opening title sequence through different genres, creative camera work and editing, creating enigma, and using relatable young actors. It explains that combining the genres of social realism and neo-noir will attract specific audiences through their conventions. Camera techniques like varied shot sizes and angles along with editing skills aim to generate intrigue. Leaving characters initially unintroduced and lacking dialogue helps pique viewers' curiosity to continue watching. Featuring up-and-coming young actors allows audiences to empathize and feel invested in their development.

The media product, titled "Staircase", aims to explore the crime thriller genre by conforming to some of its conventions like low key lighting, while also challenging some aspects. It establishes equilibrium at the beginning according to Todorov's theory, and builds mystery through techniques like parallel editing and an obscured killer identity, creating narrative enigma per Barthes. Sound and lighting choices, as well as location and mise-en-scène selections, further develop tension and conceal information to stimulate audience questions.
The document details the characters in a music video about domestic abuse. It includes a teenage daughter who is abused by her alcoholic father while the unaware mother is too busy to notice. The daughter is portrayed as the victim compared to the antagonist father. The mother is shown as caring but unable to see the abuse, while the disorganized and drunken father is the source of hurt. The characters were kept to a minimum to create a sense of isolation around the abuse.

The document discusses rating certificates for films and determining the appropriate rating for a thriller media product. Research found that over half of thriller films shown on the BBFB receive a 15 rating, allowing strong language, drug use, sexual references and violence. Feedback from questionnaires indicated that most respondents believed a 15 rating would be most suitable since the plot involving a kidnapped victim could emotionally affect younger viewers. Considering typical audiences for thriller films and the questionnaire feedback, the document concludes that a 15 rating is most appropriate for the media product.

The survey provided key insights that helped the author make decisions about the thriller opening sequence. Based on the results, the author chose to target the sequence at ages 15 to 20 since thrillers do not often target that age group. Most survey responses suggested showing the sequence in the middle of the film, but the author opted to show the end to create more suspense and intrigue for the audience from the start. The survey gave the author different perspectives to develop a more effective opening sequence.
The document discusses the results of a study on the effects of a new drug on memory and cognitive function in older adults. The double-blind study involved giving either the new drug or a placebo to 100 volunteers aged 65-80 over a 6 month period. Testing showed those receiving the drug experienced statistically significant improvements in short-term memory retention and processing speed compared to the placebo group.
LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Thriller ident
1. Ident Ideas.
Joe Bowman, Adam
Richards, Tristan Hale and
Robyn Collier.
2. Brief summary of the ident ideas.
The main ident theme we have chosen revolves
around elevators. We have chosen to do this as
the gradual rising in the elevator and different
angles within and around the elevator are
good ways to create suspense to the
audience. We were looking to do as it is for the
thriller genre film.
We have also chosen for all three ideas that
they should all be in a dark settings to match
the dark theme within a thriller film.
Again, for all three ident ideas, we have chosen
to use the same name of ‘Elevation Studios’.
This is because the sense of tension building can
be linked to the word ‘elevation’ and therefore
connotes the conventions of a thriller we’re
aiming to show.
3. Ident idea one:
The first idea we came up with, was to
have the ident within the shaft of an
elevator as it approaches quickly and
passes still at high speed. The setting
would have been dark and the
soundtrack played over would have
been fast paced to make the audience
feel tension as the lift comes closer.
The ident would then have continued on
to gradually quiet down until the sound
of the mechanics within the lift dropping
back down would have been heard and
seen descending quickly. This would
create a break in suspense and make
the audience want to know more, as to
why the lift is suddenly dropping back
down again. Following the lift back down
a black screen would appear with the
ident name ‘Elevation studios’
4. Ident idea two:
The second idea our group came up
with included a close up of elevator
buttons. As each level was reached
continuously the button for that level lit
up and therefore created a ‘ding’
sound. This would create added
suspense and tension for the audience
as they don’t know what the elevator
is traveling up towards.
We have also chosen not to include
and overplaying soundtrack as we
believe the silence would also create
added suspense. Which we believe
will be good to include as it highlights
the thriller genre that the ident is
representing. Following the close up
the screen would then darken and
show the ident title name of ‘Elevation
Studios’.
5. Ident idea three:
The third idea that we produced was to
shoot from within a dark lift with the
doors slightly open therefore as it
reached each level the light would
shine through the gap in the door.
Creating the conventional technique
of suspense which directly links into the
thriller genre.
We have chosen to include the
mechanical sound of the elevator
within the ident as it again creates the
conventional technique of suspense to
the audience. Having the lift not open
straight away and only shows darkness
and a small amount of light creates
suspense. The break in suspense occurs
as the doors open and the ident name
‘Elevation Studios’ appears.
