Therefore, the Sony Picture Company may acquire the needed audience to stabilize its business. Social media is also growing in terms of its popularity and number of users. With Sony Picture Company being on the verge of expanding, social media may provide it with more than enough customers for the promotion of its products. The wireless network is the new way of communication. Wireless networks and expansion make it possible for people to access internet making it easy for companies to reach the virtual and physical markets with much ease. Voicemail is not appropriate for the business because it only focuses on recorded voice messages which are left behind by either the company’s management or customers depending on the situation involved. Customers may fail to listen to the messages and delete them without knowing its content.
Email is great for communication (Lam, Shankar, Erramilli, & Murthy, 2004). The management may communicate about the different products and services it offers privately to the customers. Texting also plays the same role as emails. As much as fax machine has a high interactive status, they fail to appeal to the changing trend of the market. nologies are changing how people in the working world communicate.
From word-processing programs to spreadsheets and presentation
slides, from instant messaging to blogs and social media such as
Facebook, the tools are everywhere, and they keep getting better. To
succeed in the working world, you need to know how to use these
tools effectively.
But the tools are just one part of the big change in communica-
tion practices. The other part is a new philosophy of communication.
The old philosophy was top down. For example, when a company
wanted to publicize a new product, it would issue press releases,
write articles for trade magazines, and place ads in magazines and
on TV. The new philosophy is bottom up; that is, the company uses
social media to connect with its various stakeholders. It’s the differ-
ence between selling and engaging.
This chapter discusses strategies for communicating with
the public or, to be more precise, publics: investors, prospective
employees, state and local officials, prospective donors, commu-
nity members, current and prospective customers, and industry
colleagues, to name just a few. Although people and organizations
have always been able to communicate with their publics, today’s
technology has made it much easier and cheaper to do so. With a
personal computer, basic office software, and Internet access, you
can create and distribute newsletters, brochures, white papers, and
podcasts to help you present information to community members.
And you can collaborate with those community members through
social media tools such as discussion boards, blogs, and wikis. This
chapter discusses these seven applications, focusing first on those
that are best at presenting information and then on those that are best
at fostering collaboration with a community.

Discussion Question #1
Organizations over the past forty years have the advantage of newer technological advances that help with the efficiency and improves productivity. As discussed in the module the increased use of cellphones, iPads, and other new technology are all part or normal operational needs of organizations. Organizations have more available technology that can allow them to achieve various goals, in education we use different types of Learning Management Systems, similar to Brightspace, which is the platform we use currently for our courses at Argosy. At my current college we use Moodle, these LMS’ are valuable tools because it allows instructors and students to communicate in different ways and to fully cross utilize learning abilities and teaching methods. These tools may seem like a huge advantage in educational institutions but they are also utilized in private organizations that are learning organizations.
Organizations are also able to use technology for multinational leadership of its organization. These technological resources can increase the use of virtual teams within the organization through the use of programs like Skype and integrated teleconferencing. This in my view gives organizations flexibility on how, what, and when information will be disseminated to those who need to be in the know of changes in the organization. Another issue with technological advances is that there are more people entering into the workforce that would rather use electronic devices or automation in the workplace and at the same time there are still baby boomers that are slow to adapt to the changes in technology because of the rapidity of change. Baby boomers are categorized by Simmons (2010), and being born between 1946-1964 and have “a limited view in technology’s role in optimizing workplace efficiency,” (Simmons, 2010). It’s not enough to blame baby boomers for their views, I think that as technology advances so does training in the organization, leaders should make it a priority to keep training as a priority in organizations as a means to reduce ageism, and any generational gaps that occur in regards to technology.
In my opinion I feel that technology in regards to organizational behavior, aids in the development of the workforce and helps to prepare the organization for future advances in their perspective industries.

nologies are changing how people in the working world communicate.
From word-processing programs to spreadsheets and presentation
slides, from instant messaging to blogs and social media such as
Facebook, the tools are everywhere, and they keep getting better. To
succeed in the working world, you need to know how to use these
tools effectively.
But the tools are just one part of the big change in communica-
tion practices. The other part is a new philosophy of communication.
The old philosophy was top down. For example, when a company
wanted to publicize a new product, it would issue press releases,
write articles for trade magazines, and place ads in magazines and
on TV. The new philosophy is bottom up; that is, the company uses
social media to connect with its various stakeholders. It’s the differ-
ence between selling and engaging.
This chapter discusses strategies for communicating with
the public or, to be more precise, publics: investors, prospective
employees, state and local officials, prospective donors, commu-
nity members, current and prospective customers, and industry
colleagues, to name just a few. Although people and organizations
have always been able to communicate with their publics, today’s
technology has made it much easier and cheaper to do so. With a
personal computer, basic office software, and Internet access, you
can create and distribute newsletters, brochures, white papers, and
podcasts to help you present information to community members.
And you can collaborate with those community members through
social media tools such as discussion boards, blogs, and wikis. This
chapter discusses these seven applications, focusing first on those
that are best at presenting information and then on those that are best
at fostering collaboration with a community.

Discussion Question #1
Organizations over the past forty years have the advantage of newer technological advances that help with the efficiency and improves productivity. As discussed in the module the increased use of cellphones, iPads, and other new technology are all part or normal operational needs of organizations. Organizations have more available technology that can allow them to achieve various goals, in education we use different types of Learning Management Systems, similar to Brightspace, which is the platform we use currently for our courses at Argosy. At my current college we use Moodle, these LMS’ are valuable tools because it allows instructors and students to communicate in different ways and to fully cross utilize learning abilities and teaching methods. These tools may seem like a huge advantage in educational institutions but they are also utilized in private organizations that are learning organizations.
Organizations are also able to use technology for multinational leadership of its organization. These technological resources can increase the use of virtual teams within the organization through the use of programs like Skype and integrated teleconferencing. This in my view gives organizations flexibility on how, what, and when information will be disseminated to those who need to be in the know of changes in the organization. Another issue with technological advances is that there are more people entering into the workforce that would rather use electronic devices or automation in the workplace and at the same time there are still baby boomers that are slow to adapt to the changes in technology because of the rapidity of change. Baby boomers are categorized by Simmons (2010), and being born between 1946-1964 and have “a limited view in technology’s role in optimizing workplace efficiency,” (Simmons, 2010). It’s not enough to blame baby boomers for their views, I think that as technology advances so does training in the organization, leaders should make it a priority to keep training as a priority in organizations as a means to reduce ageism, and any generational gaps that occur in regards to technology.
In my opinion I feel that technology in regards to organizational behavior, aids in the development of the workforce and helps to prepare the organization for future advances in their perspective industries.

The rewards of interactions are the gratifying experiences and commodities we obtain through our contact with others. They come in very different forms ranging from impersonal benefits, such as the directions you can get from strangers when you're lost, to personal intimacies, such as acceptance and support from someone you love. I'll use the term
reward
to refer to anything within an interaction that is desirable and welcome and that brings enjoyment or fulfillment to the recipient.
In contrast,
costs
are punishing, undesirable experiences. They can involve financial expenditures, such as buying dinner for your date, or actual injuries, such as split lips. However, some of the most important costs of intimate interaction are psychological burdens: uncertainty about where a relationship is headed, frustration over your partner's imperfections, and regret about all the things you don't get to do because you're in that relationship (Sedikides et al., 1994). All of the diverse consequences of interaction that are frustrating or distressing are costs.
We'll summarize the rewards and costs associated with a particular interaction with the term
outcome,
