I personally believe that framing is more compelling than agenda setting. I feel as though agenda

me, and even though I have and love my own mom, to this day I call his mother "mom" as well. I do
believe that family is based on bonds and emotional ties, not just by blood and marriage. Our
textbook defines "fictive kin as close relations with people we consider 'like family' but who are not
related to us by blood or marriage (p.352)". This sociological concept helps me realize that my own
situation of who and what I consider family is more common than I may have thought before.

The politics stream consists of three elements: national mood, pressure group campaigns, and
administrative or legislative turnover. The politics stream consists of the factors that influence
agendas or the policy process. The national mood refers to the idea that a fairly large majority of a
country tends to think along common lines, although this mood can fluctuate from time to time. This
mood of the nation can also be termed as the political climate. Government officials monitor public
opinion polls to estimate the amount of change in national mood, and then use this information to
act on their agenda or to diminish the success of others agenda. Often time's politicians formulate
the balance of support and opposition for a certain issue in order to determine the chances of an
issue to rise or fail in the policy process. Lastly the administrative or legislative turnover has a
significant influence on politics. The turnover of personal signifies a want or need for change within
the administration. The whole purpose of political elections and government is to act on the will of
the people. The combination of national mood and turnover in government has the most powerful
effect on agendas. These three elements of agenda setting operate independently, although overlaps
between the processes do occur. Successful agenda setting requires that the three streams be joined
together at critical moments.

beneficial and positive light. In the campaign, there are two primary themes, the first of which is
recognition. In general, KULT is an unknown and ambiguous organization that needs to build a
brand or an image for itself among students. The second theme of the campaign is unity. KULT
wants to be seen as an organization that offers specific services and content to students who listen to
the station or work for it. The goal of the campaign, then, is to provide a unified message to the
audience showing exactly what KULT is, what it can do for students, and what it means to be
involved. The message will unify the student body by presenting these facts, creating a sense of
understanding and interest in the station. These two themes are carried out in several ways. Our
motive is to bring students together in recognizing and understanding KULT so they can not only
