1. First chapter addresses short note on background
information with the literature review and the
methodology & limitations.
2. The next chapter gives an introduction to the
demography of the weavers with types of weavers
and their present socio-economic condition.
3. The manufacturing process of jamdani products
has discussed in the third chapter.
4. The fourth chapter covers the SWOT analysis and
cost analysis
5. In the last two chapter it covers some still
pictures and the conclusion and findings session.

As the objectives represent the final goal –
*To understand jamdani production process
*To find out and classify the total types of weaver
*To look deep in to the jamdani weavers and there
socio economic conditions.

*Make an overall idea on the contribution to our
economy

Methodology is based on various types of information
including;
• Interview with weaver and Mohajon
• Column written on different dailies
• Spend a period of three month at Jamdani Polli
• Used some reference book from Bangla Academy

Jamdani is the technical marble of handicraft with
creativity and engineering. The distinguished hallmark
of Jamdani is that its design which is neither printed
nor embroidered but created directly by hand during
weaving on the loom.
The designs they are created on the fabric are
emitted from the nature as trees, leaves, flowers,
fruits and vegetables.

The pattern that will create on the fabric is mostly
depends on either the customer choice or according
to the market demands.
However, if there are no customer requirement the
weaver set the loom according to their choice. They
select a pattern to weave that have a high market
value and have high demand.

Jamdani is a derivatives of Muslin which was the most
prestigious and fabulous woven products ever. So what
should be the quality of yarn is mostly depends on the
type of design chosen to weave.
Now a days a yarn of 40 to 60 Ne (English count,
according to the lab test) is widely used whereas in the
beginning they used 120 to 200 Ne

Jamdani fabric could not dyeing or printing after
weaving. So the yarns are dyed before the weavers
beam preparation.
The yarns that used for jamdani are mostly dyed in the
following process,
i. Vegetable dye iii. Acid dye
ii. Vat dye & iv. Direct applicable dye

After the yarn has been, it is transferred to the Charkha’s,
according to different count and color, to prepare the warp
& the warping is done by the Nolider whereas the denting
is done by Hajainna, who pass the Tana (warp thread)
through the Bow. And at the same time Shanabaj do the
task of reed-man to pass the warp threads through the dent
of reed.
But for the weft and the patterned thread sizing is not
required. So they set on different Charkha and wound the
spools and the bobbins.

For Jamdani weaving pit loom or locally called Jamdani
Tant is used because it is set so much closely to the
ground so the weaving zone get the height moisture
Actually there are no big difference between the jamdani
loom and the other conventional looms except the theme
of pattern that created.
And the other regular task is done the following parts;
Uvhii, Vabari, Chouchala, Bow, Aailna, Malshi, Juitash,
Tolpowear, Maku Mochka, Shana. Dokti, Norot, Moti-
kamani & Kandul.

I just saying that if there are no any big contrariety
arise and if the government & non-government
organization (NGO) come forward with proper
management I am hopeful to see this industry in a
bright position in near future.

  • 6. Jamdani is the technical marble of handicraft with creativity and engineering. The distinguished hallmark of Jamdani is that its design which is neither printed nor embroidered but created directly by hand during weaving on the loom.   • 10. The pattern that will create on the fabric is mostly depends on either the customer choice or according to the market demands. However, if there are no customer requirement the weaver set the loom according to their choice. They select a pattern to weave that have a high market value and have high demand.   • 12. Jamdani is a derivatives of Muslin which was the most prestigious and fabulous woven products ever. So what should be the quality of yarn is mostly depends on the type of design chosen to weave. Now a days a yarn of 40 to 60 Ne (English count, according to the lab test) is widely used whereas in the beginning they used 120 to 200 Ne All right reserved © Asad HRiDOY
  • 13. Jamdani fabric could not dyeing or printing after weaving. So the yarns are dyed before the weavers beam preparation. After the yarn has been, it is transferred to the Charkha’s, according to different count and color, to prepare the warp & the warping is done by the Nolider whereas the denting is done by Hajainna, who pass the Tana (warp thread) through the Bow. And at the same time Shanabaj do the task of reed-man to pass the warp threads through the dent of reed. But for the weft and the patterned thread sizing is not required. For Jamdani weaving pit loom or locally called Jamdani Tant is used because it is set so much closely to the ground so the weaving zone get the height moisture Actually there are no big difference between the jamdani loom and the other conventional looms except the theme of pattern that created. And the other regular task is done the following parts; Uvhii, Vabari, Chouchala, Bow, Aailna, Malshi, Juitash, Tolpowear, Maku Mochka, Shana. Dokti, Norot, Moti- kamani & Kandul.
