3. Introduction :
• Pityriasis capitis/ dandruff are common dermatological problems affecting seborrheic
areas.
• Dandruff is restricted to scalp, itchy, flaking skin without visible inflammation.
• Homoeopathic remedies are very effective in cases of dandruff without causing any side
effect.
• Cochleria Armoracia Mother Tincture is said to be very effective in cases dandruff when
applied locally.
PREVALENCE :
Dandruff is most common condition affecting the 50% of the population. Age and sex
influence the occurrence of dandruff. It is mostly observed in pubertal age and might
continue through middle age, but some patients deal with it for their entire lives.
4. DEFINITION :
Dandruff is defined as chronic non
inflammatory scaling of the scalp which
causes flakes of the skin often
accompanied by itching, irritation,
greasiness and oiling of scalp.
5. Need of the study :
• Dandruff is common problem affecting most of the
population.
• Current treatment options are not always effective
and can pose the higher recurrence rates. Some
only provide symptomatic relief for the condition
and can cause numerous side effects.
• Homoeopathically indicated remedy has very good
results in cases of dandruff without causing any
side effects.
• Cochleria Armoracia mother tincture is observed to
be very effective in cases of dandruff when applied
locally but it is used very rarely.
6. Research Question :
Is local application of mother tincture of Cochleria Armoracia along with
indicated homoeopathic medicine is more effective than the indicated
homoeopathic medicine in management of dandruff ?
Hypothesis :
H1 – There is difference between local application of cochleria armoracia mother
tincture along with indicated homoeopathic medicine in as compared to indicated
homoeopathic medicine in management of dandruff.
H0 – There is no difference between local application of cochleria armoracia
mother tincture along with indicated homoeopathic medicine in as compared to
indicated homoeopathic medicine in management of dandruff.
7. Aim :
To study the effectiveness of local application of cochleria armoracia mother tincture
along with indicated homoeopathic medicine as compared to indicated homoeopathic
medicine in management of dandruff
Objective :
Primary objective – To study the effectiveness of local application of
Cochleria Armoracia mother tincture.
Secondary objective – To find out the common area of scalp involved in
cases of dandruff.
8. Methodology : A) TYPE OF STUDY – Comparative study
B) SETTING (LOCATION OF STUDY) –The
subjects for this study will be collected from
M(N)HMC OPD, students.
C) DURATION OF STUDY – 6 Months.
D) METHOD OF SELECTION OF
SUBJECTS – Randomization
9. • Age between 10 to 60.
• Cases having duration of illness
more than 15 days.
• Cases from both the sexes.
• Patients who are willing to give
consent.
E) INCLUSION
CRITERIA –
• Age below 10 and above 60.
• Psoriasis.
• Tinea capitis.
• Atopic and irritant contact dermatitis.
F) EXCLUSION
CRITERIA –
10. G) SAMPLE SIZE – 46 cases.
H) SAMPLING TECHNIQUE –
Convenient Sampling.

13. Statistical Analysis :
For the statistical analysis we applied T test.
For that we had to consider 2 groups
Group A : Indicated Homoeopathic medicine + Cochleria Armoracia
Q.
Group B : Indicated Homoeopathic medicine alone.
The calculated t value of both the group A (21) and group B (18.7)
are greater than t Table value (1.6). Hence, Null Hypothesis is
rejected.
As the t value of group A (21) is greater than t value of group B
(18.7), the group A (Indicated medicine along with Cochleria
Armoracia Q) is observed to be more effective in cases of dandruff.

17. RESULT :
• Out of 46 cases,we conclude that the
commonest area of scalp involved is frontal &
temporal followed by occipital
• • out of 46 cases,67.40% pateints suffered from
dandruff were female, whereas 32.60% as male
• • 91.30% pateints on treatment with cochlearia
armoracia along with indicated medicine were
improving and 8.70% pateints as not improving
• • Pateints with treatment with only indicated
medicine 74% were improving & 26% pateints
as not improving
18. CONCLUSION :
We conclude for our study that Cochlearia
armoracia as an local application along with
indicated medicine is far more effective
than indicated medicine alone in the
management of dandruff.
