9. DAY CARE
'Day-care' is the term used to describe treatment procedures
that require hospitalisation for less than 24-hours. These
include chemotherapy, radiation, dialysis, cataract,
lithotripsy, tonsillectomy and so on.
Day Care Treatment means medical treatment, and/or
surgical procedure which is:
1. Undertaken under general or local anesthesia in a
hospital/day care centre in less than twenty four hours
because of technological advancement, and
2. Which would have otherwise required a hospitalisation of
more than twenty four hours. Treatment normally taken on
an out-patient basis is not included in the scope of this
definition.
10. MIXING AREA
Mixing can be defined as an operation ‘‘in which two or
more ingredients in separate or roughly mixed condition are
treated so that each particle of any one ingredient is as
nearly as possible adjacent to a particle of each of the other
ingredients.’’
Importance of mixing:
• To obtain uniform composition of the mixed components.
• To enhance physical & chemical reaction of mixed
components.
• To improve dissolution and diffusion of mixture.
• To produce dispersion.
• To interaction between drug and the excipients.
• To ensure the quality of the product that depends on the
quality of the mixing procedure.
11. CHEMOTHERAPY
Chemotherapy Also called “chemo,” it’s a way to treat cancer that
uses drugs to kill cancer cells.
Chemotherapy work
It targets cells that grow and divide quickly, as cancer cells do. Unlike
radiation or surgery, which target specific areas, chemo can work
throughout your body. But it can also affect some fast-growing
healthy cells, like those of the skin, hair, intestines, and bone marrow.
That’s what causes some of the side effects from the treatment.
• Ease symptoms: In some cases, chemotherapy can’t cure or
control the spread of cancer and is simply used to shrink tumors
that cause pain or pressure. These tumors often continue to grow
back.
What does chemotherapy do
It depends on the kind of cancer you have and how far along it is.
• Cure: In some cases, the treatment can destroy cancer cells to the
point that your doctor can no longer detect them in your body. After
that, the best outcome is that they never grow back again, but that
doesn’t always happen.
• Control: In some cases, it may only be able to keep cancer from
spreading to other parts of your body or slow the growth of cancer
tumors.
12. An emergency department is a dedicated area in a
hospital that is organised and administered to
provide a high standard of emergency care to people
in the community who perceive the need for, or are
in need of, acute or urgent care including hospital
admission.
EMERGENCY WARD
A crash cart or code cart or"MAX cart" is a set
of trays/drawers/shelves on wheels used in
hospitals for transportation and Dispensing of
emergency medication/equipment at site of
medical/surgical emergency for life support
protocols to potentially save someone's life.

18. The training in a hospital gives us a conclusion that the
training in the hospital was really necessary as it not only
helped us to see how a hospital operates, but i also helped me
to learn basic functions of it like first aid care, how to give
injections and dispensing of drugs etc. The conclusion drawn
out can be that I have finally learned as to how important
role a hospital plays in peoples' lives and that the hospital
staff can go to any means to save them since its their duty.
