There is/there are is used to indicate existence, quantity, or location of something. It can be used with singular nouns followed by "is" or plural nouns followed by "are". Contractions such as "there's" and "there aren't" are also used. Questions are formed by reversing the order of "is/are" and "there". The words "here" and "there" indicate if something is near or far from the speaker.
