The terms “There Is” and “There
 Are” are used in English to indicate
 that an object or person is found
 on a specified site.
   1. There is used when the subject is:
   * A singular countable noun:

   There is an apple in the basket.
   Notice that the noun has the indefinite article (a /
    an). Normally the definite article “the” is not used
    with There is:

   * There is the apple in the basket.
   * An uncountable noun:
   There is Some tea in the pot.
   There is ice on the street.

   Uncountable nouns can take quantifiers like some,
    any, much, a lot of etc.
 2. “There Are” is used when the subject
  is:
* A plural noun:

   THERE ARE two apples in the basket.
   * You can make a contraction of "There is"
    to "There's." You can not make a
    contraction of "There are."

   The negative is "There is not" and "There
    Are not“ and their contractions.

   There is not a book. - There isn't a book.

   There Are Not books. - There Are not
    books.
   To form a question just change the word
    order.

 Is There a book?
 Yes, There Is.
 No, There isn't.


 There Are books?
 Yes, There are.
 No, There are not.
