Snake
– Denotation
Any of numerous limbless, scaly, elongate
reptiles of the suborder Serpentes, comprising
venomous and nonvenomous species
inhabiting tropical and temperate areas.
– Connotation
Devious, cold-hearted and untrustworthy
Flag
– Denotation
a piece of cloth, varying in size, shape, color,
and design, usually attached at one edge to a
staff or cord, and used as the symbol of a
nation, state, or organization, as a means of
signaling, etc.; ensign; standard; banner;
pennant.
– Connotation
Freedom, identity, union, winning, pride,
happiness
Gun
– Denotation
A weapon consisting of a metal tube, with
mechanical attachments, from which projectiles
are shot by the force of an explosive.
– Connotation
Danger, fear, deadly,
Colours: The colours in the poster
consists of mostly bright colours of
blue and green which have
connotations of trust, youth and
nature and Miss Peregrine's clothes
consists of dark blue which seem
display that she is a sort of protector
or matriarch for the children in the
poster.
Props: The props in the poster are a
rope, a crossbow, a rock and a
football. The rope is often connoted
as something which helps secure
something and in this case the Jacob is
holding the Emma with the rope to
stop her from floating away. The
crossbow is often connoted as a
weapon of danger but how Miss
Peregrine is holding the crossbow is
protectively so the meaning behind
this is that Miss Peregrine uses the
crossbow as a weapon of protection
against the villains of the film
Props: The props in the poster are a
rope, a crossbow, a rock and a football.
The rock is connotated as an object
which is heavy and strong but to
Bronwyn it isn’t as her so called
‘peculiarity’ is superhuman strength so
the rock’s strength is nothing to her as
she is stronger and finally the football
is connoatated to youth and boys as
many boys play football when they are
younger.
Costume: Miss Peregrine's coat is
made of what look likes leather and
underneath is a dress and normally
you associate people who wear leather
as people who are fighters and are
strong. The boy Jacob is also wearing a
jacket but it looks more modern which
may mean he is from the modern era
and the girls Bronwyn, Olive and Emma
are wearing dresses which may mean
that are from a different era as girls in
the modern era don’t wear dresses as
Location: The film is set Cairnholm,
Wales which is where the home of the
peculiar children is.
Lighting: The top half of the poster is
lighter whereas the bottom of the
poster is much darker.
Actor/model: From how the actors are
standing they seem intrigued at being
looked at by the viewers.
Colours: The colours in the poster consists of
mostly blue which could mean technology,
faith, trust, and loyalty.
Props: The only prop I can see on this poster is
the badge on the android Connor’s suit is to
tell the people that he is an android.
Costume: Connor (the android in middle) and
the androids at the bottom are all wearing
uniforms which says that humans want to tell
androids apart from humans and that they
don’t want them to have individuality like
humans do.
Location: The video game is set in Detroit
Michigan and in the game it is where all the
androids are made distributed.
Lighting: The poster seems radiate with light as
game is based around technology
Actor/model: The first android Markus has a
determined look on his face which may mean
that he is a strong willed person, the second
android Kara has a soft expression on her face
which may mean she is a kind person and the
final android Connor has a sort of confused
look on his face like he is unsure of who he is
or what is happing around him.
Colours: The colours in the poster consists of
mostly blue which around revolves the film’s
centre theme which is water as well on the red
on Eliza’s dress which revolves around the
film’s second theme which is love.
Costume: Eliza (the main character) has a red
dress with frills and also has red high heels to
match and the style of the dress is of the 1960s
era which must mean that this film is set in the
1960s.
Location: The film is set in Baltimore Maryland
where Eliza lives.
Lighting: A spotlight opens up in the middle of
the poster so it lights up our two main
characters.
Actor/model: Eliza and her lover (the
amphibian man) are holding each other very
close which conveys the meaning that they
love each other very much and that they never
want to let go of each other.
Soundtrack

The genre from the first clip is probably action as the
music is dramatic
The connotations the this music creates with this
image is that something dramatic is going to happen
to the man at the desk.

Soundtrack
– Clip 2
The genre from the first clip is probably romance as the
music is romantic.
The connotations the this music creates with this image
is that something romantic is going to happen to the
man at the desk.
The clip suggests that the women is going to tell the

Shining
– The genre of the film has been changed into a family
friendly film and it has been changed by having a cheerful
narrator narrate the synopsis of the story as well as having
cheerful music in the background and it has been edited to
feature only positive speech from the character
Scary Mary

Costume
Power is communicated through costume with Darth Vader
having a robotic suit as well as a long flowing cape and a scary
helmet which means you don’t know who really is behind the
mask.
Dialogue
Power is communicated through dialogue with Darth Vader
saying to Ezra “you’re master has deceived you into believing
that you can become a Jedi” this means that Darth Vader is
trying to manipulate Ezra into joining the dark side.
Clip Analysis
Props
Power is communicated through props with the storm
troopers having basters which outnumbers “The Ghost” crew
with the number of people that they have.
Lighting
Power is communicated through lighting by making the
setting that the characters have dark and light areas making it
seem like you don’t know which side will win.

camera do close ups on the characters when they are in
battle so you can see the action and feel like you are a part of
the battle.

Power is communicated through editing by having the shots
of Darth Vader attacking the good guys first and them
counterattacking him after.

Music
Power is communicated through music by having the dark
side theme tune play over the battle to show that the dark
side has more power than the light side.

Vader’s costume completely black and this shows that black
destroys all colours.

The rope is often connoted as something which helps secure something and in this case the Jacob is holding the Emma with the rope to stop her from floating away. The crossbow is often connoted as a weapon of danger but how Miss Peregrine is holding the crossbow is protectively so the meaning behind this is that Miss Peregrine uses the crossbow as a weapon of protection against the villains of the film

The rock is connotated as an object which is heavy and strong but to Bronwyn it isn’t as her so called ‘peculiarity’ is superhuman strength so the rock’s strength is nothing to her as she is stronger and finally the football is connoatated to youth and boys as many boys play football when they are younger. Costume: Miss Peregrine's coat is made of what look likes leather and underneath is a dress and normally you associate people who wear leather as people who are fighters and are strong. Colours: The colours in the poster consists of mostly blue which around revolves the film’s centre theme which is water as well on the red on Eliza’s dress which revolves around the film’s second theme which is love. Costume: Eliza (the main character) has a red dress with frills and also has red high heels to match and the style of the dress is of the 1960s era which must mean that this film is set in the 1960s. Location: The film is set in Baltimore Maryland where Eliza lives. Lighting: A spotlight opens up in the middle of the poster so it lights up our two main characters. Actor/model: Eliza and her lover (the amphibian man) are holding each other very close which conveys the meaning that they love each other very much and that they never want to let go of each other.
