Designing For Mobile - by Nikhil DeshpandeSynerzip
This webinar discusses the decision criteria for mobile design – native app vs. web app.
Users expect fast engaging mobile experiences and disappointing them can paint a bleak future for your offering. However, designing for mobile comes with its own set of challenges. How do we define mobile? Do we need to have two separate versions of websites?
The proliferation of inexpensive screens combined with hyper-connectivity have brought about a society that is focused on multitasking. Unfortunately, while we as humans can be aware of several things at once our brains can only truly focus on one thing at a time.
How is advertising impacted by a society that is always on and always connected?
We have been communicating with objects ever since we could speak. It's only been in the last decade or so that common mundane objects have been able to talk back to us. In this presentation, you will discover how the use of networked bespoke sensor-embedded objects will forever change your perception of the world.

Many of these campaigns were created by Havas Sports & Entertainment China, or agencies across our network (from our 30 offices in 20 countries). Many of these campaigns were created by other marketing agencies which we recognize as having produced work that we find inspiring and innovative. User Journeys, Personal Services, Natural EvolutionGary Hayes
A presentation given to ABC TV teams on a LAMP residential. Looks are the importance of the user journey and personal resonance in experience design. Also includes amongst the opening slides a bizarre prediction Gary gave of what the media landscape would be like in 2009 - but the prediction came from 2000!! Here is a snippet of that one:
The World in 2009 - according to Gary at SSBP, March 2000
•The World Wide Web of early 2000 is regarded as a ‘low resolution’ pilot
•Every individual can become a producer of content which is available
to everyone else - if they want it.
•All ‘content programme brands’ have elements in all of the above
•Everything can be made portable & kept forever
•CD collections, home movies, personal photographs are stored here too
•Now anything else is available on demand from anywhere over vast
broadband networks.
•Everything is ‘pulled’, only personally relevant content is ‘pushed’.
•The words ‘TV’ ‘radio’ & ‘internet’ disappeared from our vocabulary. Even the word ‘interactive’ went - everything is now interactive
•Scheduled ‘live video’ becomes a special group shared event - there is only one broadcast channel in each country - these events generate
most online discussion
•The home becomes a personalised entertainment and life system
where everything is centralised - games, video, shops, audio, text,
email & vmail & banking.
•‘Open Standards’ killed off all proprietary platforms in 2005 and the large ‘trusted’ traditional broadcasters collaborated and produced one
navigation system that all companies adopted
•True to all predictions the ‘interactive’ fridge becomes the most popular, connected device in the house

The near future of real web applicationsX.commerce
There is a lot of noise being made about HTML5 as the new web technology to use and markets for apps as the best way to sell products and distribute applications to our end users. In reality there is not much new about it - all we are doing is treating the web as a distribution and sharing platform and browsers as the software to run our applications on. In this talk Christian Heilmann of Mozilla shows how in the near future application installation and in-app payments can happen on the most distributed market there is - the internet and through your browser. You will see how the technologies we build web sites in got an upgrade to allow us to build light-weight and focused applications that allow our end users to reach their goals faster and in a more re-usable fashion than with traditional ecommerce. Browsers and hardware are becoming more powerful each day, it is time to use that power in a sensible manner.
Multiscreen UX Design - Developing for a multitude of devices Wolfram Nagel
We live in a Multiscreen-World. Everything needs to work across devices. This requires a holistic strategy. +++ People today use technology on different devices in different locations. Users expect to access information on all relevant screens and across multiple channels through smartphones, tablets, laptops/desktops, smart (internet-connected) TVs, and other devices, such as smartwatches for example. Multiscreen is no longer a nice add-on, it’s a requirement. In this environment, user experience needs to cater to multiple devices. +++ These slides are a summary of the book. Ten learnings on thinking small for big impact Wolff Olins
When we take on big challenges, like innovation, it’s tempting to jump to big
solutions. But sometimes, it’s the small things that matter most.
Small is in the detail. And small often requires big thought. But when
creating sustainable systems that support change there is power in small.
Here are ten (tiny) lessons we’ve learned at Wolff Olins
where thinking small can have a big impact.

In this webinar, we will review the benefits of leveraging InfluxDB and Grafana when executing load tests and demonstrate how these tools are used to visualize performance metrics.
Length: 30 minutes
Session Overview
-------------------------------------------
During this webinar, we will cover the following topics while demonstrating the integrations of JMeter, InfluxDB and Grafana:
- What out-of-the-box solutions are available for real-time monitoring JMeter tests?
- What are the benefits of integrating InfluxDB and Grafana into the load testing stack?
- Which features are provided by Grafana?
- Demonstration of InfluxDB and Grafana using a practice web application

Are you looking to streamline your workflows and boost your projects’ efficiency? Do you find yourself searching for ways to add flexibility and control over your FME workflows? If so, you’re in the right place.
Join us for an insightful dive into the world of FME parameters, a critical element in optimizing workflow efficiency. This webinar marks the beginning of our three-part “Essentials of Automation” series. This first webinar is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to utilize parameters effectively: enhancing the flexibility, maintainability, and user control of your FME projects.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Essentials of FME Parameters: Understand the pivotal role of parameters, including Reader/Writer, Transformer, User, and FME Flow categories. Discover how they are the key to unlocking automation and optimization within your workflows.
- Practical Applications in FME Form: Delve into key user parameter types including choice, connections, and file URLs. Allow users to control how a workflow runs, making your workflows more reusable. Learn to import values and deliver the best user experience for your workflows while enhancing accuracy.
- Optimization Strategies in FME Flow: Explore the creation and strategic deployment of parameters in FME Flow, including the use of deployment and geometry parameters, to maximize workflow efficiency.
- Pro Tips for Success: Gain insights on parameterizing connections and leveraging new features like Conditional Visibility for clarity and simplicity.
We’ll wrap up with a glimpse into future webinars, followed by a Q&A session to address your specific questions surrounding this topic.
Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your FME expertise and drive your projects to new heights of efficiency.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
