Surprising Data Around How We Work [Infographic]Citrix
A surprising 9 out of 10 full-time U.S. employees believe their boss trusts them to get their job done regardless of where and when they do their work. And, while additional data indicates employees have become upbeat about their increasingly flexible workplaces, inefficiencies abound in how workers use technology and communicate, and there is a lack of training and infrastructure available to support flexible work.
These are among the key findings from a national probability telephone survey commissioned by Flex+Strategy Group/Work+Life Fit, Inc and co-sponsored by Citrix.

SolarWinds Application Performance End User Survey (Australia)SolarWinds
The proliferation of BYOD, cloud, SaaS and consumer technologies in the workplace have made the application the disruptive technology that will drive business IT into the coming decades. At the same time, the application delivery chain is becoming more complex to support as applications become more networked, virtualization drives IT infrastructure convergence and abstraction and end users become more mobile. These survey findings highlight the impact of application performance and availability on business end users, and their experiences with and expectations of IT when problems arise. Chief among the findings is that while the application is now the heart of businesses of all sizes and its performance is the lifeblood of success, IT continues to struggle to ensure its performance and availability.
With more and more younger employees entering the work place and expecting to be able to use video as they do in their personal lives (63%) businesses are risking alienating the ‘selfie-generation’ from their workforce.

Whether it’s Skyping grandma, FaceTiming friends, or using the Periscope social media app, live two-way video is playing an increasingly central role in everyday lives – particularly among younger people. BlueJeans Network commissioned a survey to uncover the current attitudes and trends surrounding live video usage. The goal was to determine how employees felt about adopting this form of communication at work, and how responsive organizations might be to changing their communication methods.

What is the truth about VoIP security? Finding the right partner that delivers secure IP telephony — while leveraging existing security investments — is the key.
If you are a manager playing a role in the implementation or operation of your VoIP network, this book is an excellent place to begin. If you are a systems administrator, software engineer, network designer, auditor, or security expert, you’ll find enough details to engage you and get you started thinking about issues in your own environment. If you are an end-user, this book will lift the veil and show you the future of converged voice and data communications and how they are protected. If you’ll be using the new VoIP network, this book gives you an appreciation for the types of issues that converged network personnel face today.

One of the poisoned chalices that many finance departments have been tossed by their CEO or COO is to justify the extensive time being invested in social media - marketers being seen as having gone native. Based on a recent MPF survey into digital and social technologies:
Their primary purpose, according to both marketing and management, is raising profile, in effect advertising. However, advertising has always been recognized as far less relevant than other marketing tools for professional firms, so it is unlikely alone to justify the current level of investment.
Another purpose is fostering collaboration and interactions with clients and other audiences. However, this received a far lower priority, especially from marketing, with, for example, 50 percent of firms measuring online conversations but only 10 percent of practice group leaders receiving relevant KPI analytics.
A third purpose is obtaining new client instructions. Worryingly, this emerged as the preferred outcome for both marketing and management in spite of all the marketing textbooks telling us that measuring advertising by new work gained is misleading and dangerous.
The concern is that, unless the mismatch between purposes and outcomes is resolved through increased clarity, a train crash can be expected, with marketing being the victims. Under this scenario, how easy will it be to reclaim the territory surrendered to others in a zero-sum world?
Attendees will learn:
The most popular social media channels used by peer firms.
The need to clarify the purposes of using social media.
The limited role for formal training in improving digital expertise.
The need to share KPI analytics with practice leaders.
Ways to avoid a mismatch of outcomes and purposes.

SUBJECT
Implementing a telecommuting policy
The Business Development department has noticed that Platinum Company lacks a telecommuting policy. Some employees have complained about the lack of such a policy, given that our organization has locations all over the world. They say that reporting to a main location is not necessary for them to do their work.
Telecommuting is the practice of working outside a company’s primary business location, either at home or another remote location. This policy has been a practice exercised by many businesses for more than 20 years, both in United States and abroad. The Internet, faxes, phones, webcams, and instant messaging are some of the tools required for this practice. This ideal business practice may suit for any modern business including ours. The benefits this policy would bring to the workplace include
• Cost and time efficient for both companies and employees
• Flexible work-hours for telecommuters
• Increased productivity
• Working offsite
• Worldwide recruitment
Along with the benefits, there are a few potential problems that might affect this business practice. There are certain risks that businesses must take into consideration before developing a telecommuting policy in the workplace. These risks include
• Fraud or hacking
• Employee isolation from the social bonds of the office or from management
• Reduction of face-to-face interaction with other employees and management
• Connectivity issues
To implement a successful telecommuting policy the business must put in place greater filters and spam protectors to avoid being hacked, obtain advanced technology to support teleworkers, invest in training for potential teleworkers, and structure monitoring prior to implementing a telecommuting practice.
My research shows that telecommuting could make Platinum Company more competitive in the business world. The benefits of implementing this policy allow companies to work from multiple locations worldwide and keep their customers in contact with the teleworkers at any place and time. In addition, employees can accomplish their jobs from their homes. Developing a telecommuting policy at Platinum Company would help the business, employees, and customers. We hope you will take this policy into consideration. Thank you for your time.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
