ESR Stat Plus is a second-generation sed rate blood analyzer manufactured by HemaTechnologies. The instrument can produce three sed rates in five minutes, using only 25 microliters of blood per sample. HemaTechnologies donated an ESR Stat Plus and other supplies to the Whitney Clinic in Haiti soon after it opened its doors. This donation allows the clinic to run quality laboratory blood tests and improve basic care for patients.

2. Introduction
 ESR Stat Plus is a second-generation sed rate blood
analyzer manufactured by HemaTechnologies. The
instrument can produce three sed rates in five
minutes, using only 25 microliters of blood per
sample. HemaTechnologies donated an ESR Stat
Plus and other supplies to the Whitney Clinic in Haiti
soon after it opened its doors. This donation allows
the clinic to run quality laboratory blood tests and
improve basic care for patients.
A project of The Catholic Church of Saint Monica, the
Whitney Clinic is located in Hinche, Haiti. The clinic
opened in 2003, thanks to a donation from its
namesake, Jim Whitney.

3. Whitney Clinic
 Dr. Hudson Pierre and his staff treat hundreds
of patients each week in the clinic. Common
illnesses at the Whitney Clinic include
parasites, malaria, and malnutrition, as well as
high blood pressure and diabetes. The clinic
also has a new dental suite, where visiting
dentists and hygienists provide care. Midwives
for Haiti, based in Virginia, provides prenatal
care at the Whitney Clinic. This is especially
important, as most mothers do not have
access to such care in Haiti.
