Diagnostic procedures for coronary heart disease
Coronary heart disease is caused by atherosclerosis reducing blood flow to the heart, which can cause chest pain or heart attack. Diagnostic tests include cardiac enzymes in blood to detect heart muscle damage, serum lipoprotein levels indicating atherosclerosis risk, and various imaging techniques. Imaging options are angiography examining heart blood vessels, cardiac scans measuring blood flow at rest and during exercise, Doppler ultrasonography assessing blood flow velocity and direction, echocardiography creating heart images, and venography examining vein blood flow. Cardiac function tests involve cardiac catheterization examining the inside of the heart, electrocardiography monitoring heart electrical activity, Holter monitors tracking heart activity during daily life, and stress tests evaluating cardiovascular fitness during exercise.

Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. - 1. OVERCOMING BLOOD AND NEEDLE PHOBIAS DURING TESTS ESR Stat Plus
- 2. Introduction The ESR Stat Plus is an innovative medical device used to perform erythrocyte sedimentation rate tests. Laboratory analyzers like the ESR Stat Plus require minimal blood extraction in order to get reliable results. This is useful for patients who have a fear of blood or needles. People with an abnormal and persistent fear of blood dread the sight of their own blood, other people’s blood, animals’ blood, and sometimes even images of blood. Fear of blood, or hemophobia, manifests through an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. Some people even faint at the sight of blood.
- 3. Blood and Needle Phobias Those with a fear of needles react similarly to people who are afraid of seeing blood. People who think they’re going to be poked with needles – like during a blood test – may feel faint. Their heart rate and blood pressure may increase and then suddenly drop. The best way to deal with these fears during a routine blood test is to remember that the needle will not be unbearably painful and the exposure to blood will not last that long. Patients are urged to practice relaxation and breathing exercises before and after the procedure. It also helps when they have a friend or relative close by, in case the patient needs moral and physical support.
