3. Is a specific request of the Commission, in the Horizon 2020 Programme to
communicate and disseminate to a wide public the results of the research carried out
by the project.
That’s why we have a specific Workpackage (WP5) dedicated to Communication and
Training

4. The dissemination and communication of scientific messages isn’t an easy task, as
the figures generated in labs are difficult to translate into popular formats. We know
that the first communication tool for researchers are scientific papers, but
EMPHASIS has to facilitate the transfer of scientific results to enterprises, policy
makers, farmers, associations, and to a wide public at large.
That’s why, within a dedicated workpackage, traditional and innovative
communication instruments work together to engage different stakeholders.
But…

5. When it comes to dissemination, reference is made to the transfer of results to
encourage their exploitation (also of an economic nature), with a view to practical
use. In this case, the target audience will be composed of subjects specialized in a
specific sector, for example the scientific community, or the legislators.
Communication, on the other hand, includes information and promotion activities to
increase the visibility of the project and therefore addresses a more generic target
(public opinion, the media). It can therefore be more effective to plan a general
strategic framework that covers both activities to make the most of available
resources.
