The Start Menu
The Start Menu
The Start menu acts as a launch pad for most of the things you want to do with
Windows XP. Using this menu, you can start applications, change the settings of
your computer, find files, get help and do much, much more. The Start menu
appears when you click on the Start button on the taskbar.

You can have two different Start menus, one is your usual Start menu and
another one is Classic Start menu, which is explained later. Fig 1.5 The Start

You can select an option from this menu by using the mouse. As you move the
mouse pointer over the options, they get highlighted. Simply click the mouse
when the option you want is highlighted.

All Programs on the Start menu has an arrow on the
right.
 A right arrow whether you are in Start menu or
Classic Start menu indicates the presence of one or more
levels of submenu. A submenu is shown in Fig

To select an option on the submenu, slide the mouse pointer sideways. One
option on the submenu will get highlighted. Now, move the mouse pointer up
and down till the option that you want is highlighted and click. Note that some
of the options in the submenu also have an arrow. Selecting these options will
display another submenu as shown in Fig
