Genuine Christian Faith, is to believe in everything God has said and done in His written Word: the Bible. It is to believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary to save whomever would like to be saved. It is to trust in God all the time. It is to live according to what the Bible says: “The just shall live by faith” Habakkuk 2:4; Hebrews 10:38.
Being transformed in your mind (Romans12) means rethinking your self image. Those who have placed their trust in Jesus are in Christ. This is a fundamental change. Our identity is now who we are in Christ. The New testament has many descriptions of who we are in Christ and we need to live on the basis of these statements and not by what the world tells us were are or should be.

Luke 8:40-56 - Jairus had a moment to choose whether to believe in Jesus or not to believe. In the same story a hemorrhaging woman chooses faith. Many times belief requires us to leave comfort zones. Do you struggle to believe God's words? If so, why? Is it difficult for you to step out of your comfort zone? Why?

We must realize that we have bought with a higher price and a higher premium placed on us by God. Therefore, we must not cheapen ourselves.
Finally, I want to leave you with this philosophical quote: “THE INTEGRITY OF A MAN IS NOT ON HOW MUCH HE CAN ACCEPT, BUT ON HOW MUCH HE CAN REJECT, EVEN WHEN HE IS IN A POSITION TO ACCEPT”.

As we proceed from 2015 into 2016, the Word was sent to admonish Christians to walk together in unity and love for each other. This is a call for oneness in faith and love to all Christians.
This is the 2nd lesson on the series on the Scriptural Basis of the Church of Christ, organised by the Church as a refresher course to the brethren.
In this lesson, the scriptural basis for the five (5) compulsory elements of worship were discussed:
1. Teaching/Preaching,
2. Giving,
3. Singing,
4. Breaking of bread (Holy Communion), and
5. Prayers.
We hope this lesson will be beneficial to the saints and others outside the fold of God.
In Philippians 3:13-14, Apostle Paul said "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
As Christians, we have various possessions. We are gifted by the Holy Spirit in various ways. It is our duty as Christians to protect these possessions through Faith in God. Read this wonderful presentation for the full text of the sermon by Bro. Emem Idango.
A well-delivered presentation on the essence of giving for the economic transformation of a Christian. Dr. Ben Edoja uses biblical principles to emphasis the benefits that Christians stand to get when they give to God cheerfully and abundantly.
In Matthew 5:20, The Bible makes this emphasis: "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Often times, this is interpreted in the context of giving to mean that Christians must give, as a compulsion, above one-tenth (since the Pharisees were known to give a tenth of their resources).
This teaching was presented by Bishop Itse Enonuya to remind us of the flaws of the Pharisee and why Christ taught the Jews to obey their interpretation of the Law but never to follow their examples since they were hypocrites.
As Christians, we are commanded to give to God willing and out of a cheerful heart (without compulsion) - 2 Corinthians 8:20 "For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have." 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
However there is a clause: 2 Corinthians 9:6 "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."

In Heb 8:3-5:
3) Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. 4) If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. 5) They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Renewed in Grace
The Role of Works, Faith & Grace in God's Salvation Plan
1. The Role Of Works,
Faith & Grace In
God’s Salvation Plan
(Rev 22:14)
BY BRO. TONY AJAKAIYE
20 OCT 2015
CHURCH OF CHRIST, SANGOTEDO
2. Introduction
While some claim the above ,some
other believe argue that God chose
the redeemed before the world
began, and that redemption,
therefore, is entirely unconditional.
So the question is do I need to meet
any condition(s) before I’ll be
saved? If yes, does this condition
require effort, consistency and
commitment?
3. Introduction
The argument that one is saved by
faith and not by works lingers on. It
is hinged on Eph 2:8-9.
8. FOR by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9.
Not of works, lest any man should
boast
4. What is works?
Will anyone ever be saved by works?
Can we work our way to heaven by
works?
I do not for one minute believe
that we will be saved by our works
only or can work our way to heaven.
According to the Bible, we will be
judged by our works.
5. What is works?
Look at this verse:
"And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the
books were opened: and another
book was opened, which is the book
of life: and the dead were judged
out of those things which were
written in the books, according to
their works." Revelation 20:12.
6. What is works?
So, we cannot work our way to heaven by
our good works only, but we should have
good works, shouldn't we?
"Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven." Matthew
5:16.
The point is, we cannot work our way to
heaven, but because we have been
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we
will have good works - not to be saved,
but because we are saved.
7. What is works?
If Jesus Christ is living and dwelling in our
hearts, we cannot help but have good
works in our lives, doing good for others,
helping those less fortunate than
ourselves. Letting our light shine before
men, so they will glorify our Father which
is in heaven. That is true Christianity – Jas
1 : 27. If we are doing good for others so
that we will bring glory to ourselves, then
we have the wrong motive. The reason for
doing all we are doing matters.
Remember Cornelius ? Act 10: 1-4.
8. What if faith? Heb 11:1, Rom 8:24–25
You see, works is very closely
associated with faith. If we say we
have faith and do not have
corresponding works, then do we
really have faith?
"What doth it profit, my brethren,
though a man say he hath faith, and
have not works? can faith save him?"
James 2:14.
9. What if faith? Heb 11:1, Rom 8:24–25
"Even so faith, if it hath not works,
is dead, being alone. Yea, a man
may say, Thou hast faith, and I have
works: show me thy faith without
thy works, and I will show thee my
faith by my works." James 2:17,18.
So, faith without works is dead. If
we have faith, we will have
corresponding works.
Faith alone will not save us either.
10. Conclusion
We are shall be saved when we accept
the gift of God’s grace “ Jesus Christ”
John 3 : 16.
The act of submitting to immersion is not
meritorious; the operation is a “working
of God” designed to provide pardon upon
the basis of Jesus’ death. One is
spiritually blessed by the working of God
when he submits to the sacred ordinance.
Nowhere does scripture come anywhere
near suggesting that submission to God’s
command, “be baptized” (Acts 2:38;
22:16), is a meritorious work. Faith in
action.
11. Conclusion
There after your activities will separate
you from the world.
Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven." Matthew
5:16.,Act 11 : 26.
