The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) was founded to pursue excellence in HIV/AIDS and TB research, treatment, and prevention in South Africa. [1] It is led by a husband-wife team, Professors Robin Wood and Linda-Gail Bekker, who are renowned researchers in the fields of HIV and TB. [2] DTHF conducts community-based research in Masiphumelele to better understand and address the transmission of HIV and TB, with the goal of improving public health and influencing policy. [3]

AMOS Health and Hope is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to improving the health of poor and marginalized rural populations. We use the strategy of community based primary health care to increase health care coverage in areas with limited services. We train lay health workers in rural communities to manage and run their own community clinic, prevent and treat the most common illnesses, and work in community development to address the root causes of poor health such as access to safe water and sanitation.
We currently serve a population of over 13,000 people in 27 communities in four departments in Nicaragua – Boaco, Chinandega, Matagalpa, and the RAAS. We have two medical teams that accompany, supervise and monitor the health work being done in rural communities. We are committed to implementing interventions that are evidence-based, compassionate and empowering for communities.
About Us
Jodi Lee was diagnosed with stage IV bowel cancer at age 39 despite being fit and healthy, and passed away in 2010. The Jodi Lee Foundation was established in her honor to promote early detection of bowel cancer through awareness campaigns, corporate screening programs, a website assessing cancer risk based on family history, and PhD research on medical consultations for bowel symptoms. The foundation aims to save lives through early screening and prevention given bowel cancer is one of the highest cancer rates in Australia, often detected too late.

“History shows us that HIV is not openly discussed at Indigenous conferences. It’s an issue that gets left off the agenda.” says Marama Pala, “Even though Indigenous Peoples experience high rates of HIV and AIDS, it needs to be made visible at all Indigenous conferences and gatherings. It’s time that all Indigenous peoples became aware that we are a marginalised community vulnerable to HIV”
Indigenous people globally continue to under represented in HIV prevention, research, policy and funding initiatives, and this contributes to ongoing HIV disparities and resource allocation. The stigma within Indigenous communities further marginalises this health issue, making it difficult to discuss.
“I hope am able to stress the importance of HIV, speaking openly about HIV and facing the stigma of HIV with my Indigenous and aboriginal brothers and sisters” urges Marama. “Silence No More...for the sake of my HIV negative children; we need to eliminate stigma and discrimination and make our people safe.”
Ageing without Children
Ageing without Children (AWOC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 to raise awareness of issues facing those aging without children through research, local support groups, and advocacy. It aims to include childless aging adults in discussions on aging policy. So far AWOC has held conferences, published reports on members' experiences, and started local groups. With no funding, the founder has spoken at various events to highlight themes like feeling invisible, judged, and disconnected from younger generations. AWOC wants the government and organizations to better support those aging without family care through identification, advocacy, intergenerational programs, and end-of-life planning.

Stragies for development
Privatisation refers to the process of transferring ownership of state-owned enterprises to private buyers. This involves selling shares of state companies to individuals and groups, as well as transitioning some government services to private businesses. Privatisation can promote competition, improve efficiency, increase productivity, stimulate investment and economic growth, and increase citizen participation in national assets. However, it may also lead to job losses as private companies prioritize profits over hiring. The government still maintains responsibility for citizen welfare.

INA Māori Women 2009
Māori women are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS in New Zealand. While making up only 14.6% of the population, Māori account for 7.2% of all recorded HIV cases in 2008 and 11.5% in 2007. Social and economic factors increase Māori women's vulnerability, including poverty, stigma, discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, and high rates of other STIs. Cultural taboos also prevent open discussion of sexuality and prevent women from disclosing their status. More research is needed to understand the impacts on Māori women and develop interventions to reduce infections and stigma.

- 1. The role of women organisation in prevention of HIV/AIDS The Botswana Council of Women trains women trainers through workshops to become peer educators on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. The Young Vulnerable Women seeks to mitigate the spread of HIV/AIDS and prevent teenage pregnancies. It engages in basic training on skill development and on the publication of Youth Magazines that contains information on HIV/AIDS. The Kagisano Society Women's Shelter Project is a voluntary non-profit making organization that believes in the equality of mankind. It strives for a violent free society. It aims to assist women and children who are survivors of domestic violence by providing temporary accommodation. It pioneers community responses to gender crisis, sexual violence and HIV/AIDS.
- 2. The role of women organisation in prevention of HIV/AIDS The Botshabelo Rehabilitation Centre embarks on community mobilization education and information on HIV/AIDS and sexual violence. It helps victims or survivors of sexual violence with user friendly clinical intervention to reduce trauma. It also empowers men to be fully involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The target groups are children, youth and women. Coping Centre for People with Aids (COCEPWA) has been founded by a Motswana woman who has been living positively with HIV/AIDS for a number of years. It has been established mainly to support all those infected and affected by AIDS and to offer one another the much needed support. The membership is open to all, irrespective of gender. Members of COCEPWA hold workshops and seminars to talk openly about living positively with HIV/AIDS, and how best to avoid the infection if not part of the statistics already.
- 3. Summary In general women take part in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention campaigns. Women are engaged in the implementation of HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns at the work place. They ensure that all people have complete access to and are provided with sufficient and up-to-date information on HIV/AIDS.
