13. Insights on PEO Industry
The PEO industry has grown signicantly. In each of the last 30 years, the industry has added roughly
100,000 worksite employees and 6,000 net new clients (source: Engagepeo). For perspective,
meaning that each ve years, the PEO industry has added the utilization equivalent of the whole
utilities industry within the United States. From a knowledge source Engagepeo it had been
concluded that the present size of the PEO industry is between $136 and $156 billion, as measured
in gross revenues.
14. The company's model on the other
hand is a business process that started
with the intent of forming a team
overseas. It can be looked at as a
stepping-stone to understand the
market and the people before diving
straight into company formation at the
new location.
Its solid foundation as a renowned
payroll processing firm in India gives it
the potential to service orders of
varying volumes, sizes, and industries
with rather ease. As such, the team
comes with abundant experience of
almost two decades and has lived the
journey from a handful customers to a
few hundred making all its processes
seamless for its foreign customers.
Moreover, acquisition of its domestic
payroll business by the American
payroll giant ADP was the first of its
kind. It speaks volumes about the
quality of services offered by the
company and reputation it has built.
Acing the Pandemic
With work from home and remote
working becoming a new normal
worldwide, this service offering is
gaining a lot of attention. The firm saw
many companies embracing globally
scattered teams working from its home
countries effectively.
Remunance solutions of PEO or
incubation come in as a boon for such
companies that plan on having teams
working from India. Remunance
ensures complete reliability and
transparency with the foreign company
and end-to-end support to its local
Indian team making its functioning
seamless.
The company's experts save
operational time and build
predictability in the processes executed
with government or external agencies.
This saves a lot of time and reduces
anxiety for the customer sitting
thousands of kilometres away. This
itself is a large amount of money and
time saved for the customer.
All this is done by ensuring that the
foreign business is in loop at every
stage, provided relevant context, and
consulted at every step of the way.
Through its wide and reliable network
in the technology ecosystem, the
foreign business is fed regular advice
and information befitting it.
In addition to ensuring business
success, this model also allows the
foreign business to test Indian waters
and paves the way for an expansion in
the business and possible
establishments of subsidiaries in India.
The Next Talent Hub
Remunance will build the easiest,
transparent and the successful way to
start Indian operations by building
ecosystems to run the remote
operations.
Developed economies will get hit the
hardest by imminent talent shortage.
Australia, France, Germany, Japan, and
the United States face the largest
threat, losing $1.876 trillion in annual
revenues by 2020. Interestingly, the
country that's at the other end of the
spectrum is India.
The world's sixth largest economy is
the only one in the study, which will
have a talent surplus by 2030, with 245
million more workers in the next 12
years. Beyond the growing population,
India's emphasis on affordable and
accessible education, especially at
college level will generate armies of
talent. One of the key areas where an
opportunity exists for India as well as
the global economy is technology, of
which India has the largest talent pool.

company even takes care of managing
the staff like payroll, insurance,
benefits, and risk management. It also
offers extra services like leave
management, recruiting, employee
training, office infrastructure, and HR
management.
Apart from that it also provides
financial and accounting services.
Remunance has a team of experts,
which help in bookkeeping, accounts
payable, monthly payroll, leave, and
attendance or travel claim
reimbursements.
Making it Seamless
It gives benefits to the client abroad
without having to form a company in
India. Companies looking to work
closely with its Indian team and
wanting exclusive resources/employees
of its own opt for this mode of
operation over outsourcing.
The company saves time on
administrative and compliance
activities and focus on core
responsibilities. It is cost effective in

otherwise for employing large number
of resources overseas.

24. The
of the
The twenty-first century has
been marked by constant
change and disruption. During
this time, the world has reached
unprecedented successes, which have
had a significant impact on how people
work and live. The internet boom,
scientific advances (personal
computing, entertainment), the
innovation of the mobile phone, the
advent of digital as a platform, and the
introduction of media platforms are
just a few of the game-changing events
that have occurred in a relatively short
period. They have had a massive effect
on how companies function and how
businesses are carried out globally.
All these modifications have had a
substantial impact on leadership's role
in modern organizations. Modern
leaders are now facing a complicated
and ever-changing financial landscape
with the difficult task of leading their
organizations through. These business
strategy forces have an impact not only
on countries, but also on businesses,
markets, segments, and product
characteristics. Leadership is a trait in
an individual that enables a person to
influence people around for achieving
a specific goal.
In today's world, effective leadership
requires a proactive approach to handle
change and its influence on long-term
administrative growth. The constantly
evolving business worldwide has
impacted professional and personal
lives severely. The typical point of
view of corporate leaders being
trendsetters, chiefs, and figureheads are
losing its importance. Leadership
matters even more in such times.
This article will give insights into some
of the problems that leadership will
encounter in the twenty-first century, as
well as the traits that leadership will
need to possess in order to effectively
address these challenges.
Challenges Faced by Leadership
st
Teams in the 21 Century
• Technological Disruption
Technological disruption has
compressed businesses in every
industry, from healthcare to
production to processing. Data
mining companies are building
databases of human DNA to
progress the science of
identification, 3D printers are used
to print complicated building
equipment, artificial human
organs, complete houses, and the
blend of cloud computation and AI
has enlarged the scope of data-
driven choice making.
These are examples of how
technology has interrupted the
norm in the 21st century.
Connected to these technological
disruptions is the advent of start-
ups and entrepreneurship. Start-
ups are nimble, agile and give the
capability to substantially

26. dislocate industrial models through
different ways of producing and
offering products.
• Geopolitical Volatility
Geopolitical factors can cause
destructive problems to the
company. High geopolitical
volatility can cause stricter rules
from the government to
businesses, which may lead to
bigger cost for organizations to
conduct business in different
geographical boundaries. A
volatile geopolitical environment
can chase away investment and
sink financial assets. Geopolitical
risk has become a threat for
leadership teams as most of the
things are out of control.
• Political and Economic
Uncertainty
When organizations narrow down
the geopolitical risks, the new
problem in front of them is
political and economic uncertainty.
Country environments described
as repeated worker strikes, social
instability, and chaos can have a
seriously detrimental effect on
investments, profits, and revenues.
In today’s century managing
political and economic uncertainty
has become a critical challenge for
leadership all around. Political and
economic uncertainty needs to be
accounted for growth, as industries
progressively look at growing
quicker and start-ups look for
scaling sharper.
• Shifting Demographics
Occurring on a global scale there
have been major demographic
changes, which include an ageing
population, increase in labour
diversity, and changing family
structure. These changes in
demographic structures mean that
the requirement for the industries
services is exposed to constant
fluctuations. There is also a
continuous strain on the industry’s
portfolio of products to stay
appropriate. For leadership teams,
for the growth and for planning out
a viable growth strategy this is a
challenge in terms of producing
forecasts.
st
Key Success Factors for 21 Century
Business Leaders
To be in today’s dynamic business
road, a leader should be able to gel
with different roles with ease. For
example, once they might need to act
like the commander-in-chief and in
another instance, they need to act like a
mentor to the team members. It is all
about versatility while leading and
being able to lead the way no matter
what the situation is.
• Motive
A set motive is the most important
thing while running an
organization. Leaders need to have
a personal purpose, but it should
be aligned with the organizations’
success. An unwavering focus
should be on the company’s
revenue but, a bigger vision should
be embedded in the leader for
success, and it should not include
annual income and profit goals.
Leaders should practice what they
preach if they do not want their
boats to sink. The leader should
have a clear vision. This century
needs such leaders for essential
growth.
• Resilience
It is going to be a much-required
st
trait amongst leaders in the 21
century. Resilient leaders see
failure as an opportunity and a key
point to learn. They have a strong
and positive attitude in times of
instability. A resilient leader
always finds a way to move
forward in times of uncertainty. To
attain undisturbed success, leaders
need to communicate frequently
while holding the long-term
strategic belt.
• Network
Many have the misconception that
only their work will take them
forward, which is partially true.
But having contacts and the right
set of networks will always boost
your business and will lead
towards progress. It might also
help in creating and shaping
different career paths.
Although it seems that leadership
st
in the 21 century is highly
problematic, it can be highly
rewarding when done properly.
Whether it is an individual or a
group, the attributes of efficient
leadership are applicable to both.
Individual leadership is the
successful trait of creating an
impressive role model for a
generation. The organization
constantly needs to train or find
one such leader to acquire a rock-
solid presence.

energy to repeatable outreach and administrative efforts.
SmartFHR™ enables users to perform a range of tasks from
the same app, including benefits enrolment, personnel
record management, payroll, time and attendance, wellness
programs, scheduling appointments, and managing health
data.
With the SmartFHR™ app, HR staff can communicate
more effectively, and clinical staff can deliver better
information and guidance to improve outcomes. Increasing
the focus on chronic disease management improves
productivity and profitability for your company.
Greater participation in health and wellness programs leads
to a productive workforce with greater profitability. This
increases the return on your existing investment in benefits
like health insurance and retirement plans, helping you
attract, and retain talent.
• Employee Engagement and Communication
Most organizations have an HRIS or HR employee portal in
place which can be difficult to navigate. Often, these portals
are not updated to reflect new benefits and services, such as
those delivered by a third party. Employees usually have
limited access, especially outside the workplace, and the
company can lack the ability to unify and streamline
communications or schedule proactive outreach on an
individual basis. Communicating in a hybrid office/remote
| 30 | SEPTEMBER 2021
33. work environment has exposed a need for HR teams to have
a platform with an effective interface to engage with
employees.
• Access all Benefits and Services
The SmartFHR™ platform provides comprehensive,
centralized dashboards accessible via the SmartFHR™ app
or website, giving employees rapid access to all HR
services and benefits, including benefits enrollment and
selection, total rewards and compensation, prescription and
medical services, job postings, wellness programs, 401k,
HSA, payroll, compliance training, rewards and
recognition, and policy handbooks. Any element of the
employee value proposition can be accessed, engaged, and
managed in seconds.
• Multi-channel Communication
As more employees work remotely, it is critical that their
employer goes beyond traditional communication methods
to show that they care for employees and their families.
Available via the app or on the web, SmartFHR™ features
multiple communication channels, including a visual
dashboard, Bulletin Board, in-app notification, email, text
message, push notification, pop-up displays, and video. It
supports seamless content delivery through resource
libraries, as well as engagement at the individual, cohort,
enterprise level.
Features of the app can be configured according to client
preference and distributed at the client's preferred cadence.
HR personnel can swiftly review the status of all content
and messaging to determine overall engagement.
• Content Management and Distribution
With the power of app-based communications, clients
engage employees in health and wellness initiatives for
better outcomes. SmartFHR™ enables clients to easily
distribute HR policy manuals, benefits guides, training,
handbooks, prevention, compliance literature, and other
information. With the app, clients can deliver emergency
content related to a pandemic or disaster or offer ongoing
updates from management via the appropriate channel.
While the critical decisions about which benefits to select
are typically made at home, it can be difficult for families to
access all the information they need, and the extensive
menu of available benefits can be overly complex and time-
consuming. The platform supports continuous, on-demand
access to benefits, information and gives HR staff the ability
to generate targeted, specific communications outlining the
importance, and value of the benefits plan beyond the
parameters of the enrolment period.
• Workflow Management
The workflow feature guides users to desired actions and
increases productivity with informational and transactional

34. services. People can build organization-specific processes to
ensure uniformity, compliance, and improved quality.
Because the design is intuitive, the offerings are
consolidated, and the family has direct access to the
SmartFHR™ menu. This makes it easier for employees to
understand their benefits, recognize the investment in their
wellbeing, engage with health coaching, and make truly
informed choices.
• Chronic Disease Management and Care Coordination
Six in ten adults in the United States have a chronic disease
and four in ten adults have two or more. 90% of annual
healthcare expenditures in the U.S., are for people with
chronic and mental health conditions. Lack of effective
population health and risk stratification tools make it
difficult to develop custom programs that engage the at-risk
population.
Typically, single chronic condition-based apps fail to
address many wide range of needs of the individual and do
not engage employee’s families to make meaningful,
lifestyle changes.
GCL offers extensive care coordination and management
capabilities to identify gaps in care across multiple chronic
conditions, addressing them with a single app and
personalized care plan. The platform features a robust
evidence-based disease management suite that includes
population risk stratification, chronic condition
identification, and personalized intervention. For one or
more conditions, employees have access to medical device
sourcing and delivery, remote monitoring with vitals
tracking, and direct access to interactive guidance and
support led by a dedicated team of clinicians-physicians,
nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches.
This team provides guidance and preventive care
information along with physical and emotional wellness
support as an integral part of managing chronic diseases
like Diabetes, Blood Pressure disorders, Obesity, Asthma,
COPD, and Congestive Heart Failure.
• Manage Outreach
Drawing on claims and wellness assessment data, risk
profiling and stratification analytics focus on the root causes
of excessive healthcare spending and prioritize high-risk
individuals for more robust, targeted intervention and
guidance. Programmatic recommendations are generated to
produce a healthier, personally accountable, and satisfied
workforce.

can be augmented and updated in real-time by connected
health devices, trackers, and remote monitoring tools.
• Holistic Wellbeing for the Entire Family
Organizations may lack effective wellness programs or may
have wellness programs that fail to engage most employees
on a sustained basis. They may be looking for an affordable
alternative that can be rolled out rapidly and connected with
internal HRIS and systems infrastructure to encourage
meaningful participation.
SmartFHR™ provides a secure gateway to wellness and
disease management from a single dashboard interface,
empowering employees to curate and review medical
records for their entire family. Mobile dashboards connect
all wellness programs – both internal and third-party – in an
interactive interface, driving utilization, reducing
complexity, and enhancing the value of these investments.
Activities and goal reminders, progress trackers, rewards
and incentives, screening and assessments, gamified
challenges, one-on-one coaching, and healthy living
guidelines can be delivered in-app and integrated into the
individual employee’s daily routine. Clients can activate
these native elements or simply use the app to boost current
program performance.
• Wellness Checklist
GCL offers a simple easy-to-follow personalized checklist
for year-round wellness incorporating assessments, health
screenings, immunizations, preventive care, and chronic
condition management.
• Wellness Assessment

the SmartFHR™ app to guide employees and their family
members to personalized recommendations and wellness
programs for better outcomes.

measurable goals. Challenges can be configured throughout
the year to address any growing need or challenges of the
organization in a way that is fun and engaging for
employees.
• Wellness Programs

weight management, nutrition tools, stress management,
smoking cessation, spiritual and mental health, and even
financial planning.
• Wellness Coaching
The company offers employees and their families
comprehensive wellness coaching through an extensive
library of digital coaching as well as one-on-one live
coaching with GCL's team of Health Partners including
nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches.
Ongoing engagement with these Health Partners helps
employees target their unique lifestyle improvement goals,
define their success, and sustain their progress.

company’s ongoing culture of health and wellness. We
understand human behaviour contributes to the overall
success of a company’s platform. GCL’s solution is to
create creative digital health and wellness challenges, multi-

success,” they added.
The app delivers useful information to drive employee
engagement and includes their families, allowing them to
earn rewards for healthy lifestyles.
“We designed the SmartFHR™ platform, to offer
companies creative and innovative ways to achieve 100%
employee engagement.”
Sustaining in the Midst of a Pandemic
While India survived the first wave of the pandemic due to
an effective national lockdown, the second wave has seen
both urban and rural areas battling different peak periods
and badly in need of oxygen supplies and medical
infrastructure.
Increased deaths followed by a scarcity of vaccinations
have caused an overall strain on the economy and have
taken an immense toll on daily life. The second wave,
which is ongoing, has significantly affected the overall
Indian business ecosystem.
In these unprecedented and trying times, GCL’s office
culture was disrupted as all its staff were required to work
from home. “We were able to provide incentives for home
office and internet connectivity set-ups to ease the burden
on staff," the management informed.
“Despite these challenges, our team was able to fulfil all
client commitments, and we continued to achieve high
levels of customer satisfaction. GCL rolled out some fun,
new wellness challenges among staff that incentivized
healthy lifestyle changes and promoted
vaccinations. We recognize keeping a balanced mind and
body is key to overall wellness in these challenging times,"
the management said.
Upcoming Endeavours
Green Circle Life believes in offering great health and
wellbeing programs, which makes companies more
attractive to future employees. Better communication and
engagement will attract and retain talent. The SmartFHR™
platform and customer base will continue to evolve and
grow allowing companies to serve millions of families.

Future
of EV in
Commercial Vehicles
| 36 | SEPTEMBER 2021
39. Commercial EV
The diesel based commercial
vehicles are the major source
of air pollution. Consequently,
for years, one of the largest
contributors to greenhouse gas
emissions (GHG) has been the
transportation industry. But in the
recent technological landscape, the
market trends are accelerating towards
zero-carbon emitting urban buses,
delivery vans, and electric scooters.
These trends are transforming the
commercial electric vehicle space and
driving the sustainable future for the
globe.
| 37 | www.insightssuccess.in
40. In the recent era, adoption of electric
vehicles among consumers as well as
commercial space is growing. The
advent of new EV companies and
adoption of EV by the existing
automobile manufacturers have
enhanced this growth. These EV
companies aim towards offering the
best design, better process, and
efficient vehicles than the conventional
fossil fuel vehicles.
The electric vehicles do not produce
CO and are safe if their electricity
2
comes from the renewable energy
sources. Many countries including
Canada, US, China, India, and Japan
have already realised the importance of
these commercial electric vehicles.
These countries have electric vehicles
on road. Among these, China is the
forerunner in the usage of e-buses.
Electric commercial vehicles require
less maintenance and there are rarer
breakdowns. These vehicles can be
more compact as the designs are not
very complex. Apart from these
benefits of electric commercial
vehicles, there are many challenges
that our country is facing to adopt EV
completely. Lack of infrastructure is
one of these challenges.
Lack of Infrastructure
The shortage of charging stations in
India is one of the reasons that the
country is unable to switch completely
to the electric commercial vehicle
space. On an average, electric vehicles
take more than an hour’s charging to
cover the distance of 120 to 140
kilometres. The corporate sector has all
the resources required to overcome this
challenge and set up more charging
stations in the country.
The head of Lithium Urban
Technologies, Vikash Mishra said that
functioning on a B2B model helps
them plan charging and map routes in
advance. He also believes that the
companies investing in electric
mobility should consider setting up
charging stations as their ‘moral
responsibility’. Lithium Urban
Technologies introduced India’s first
all-electric taxi fleet.
Government’s Initiatives
In 2019, the Finance Minister of India,
Nirmala Sitharaman announced the
exemption up to Rs.1.5 lacs on income
tax for the people who would buy EVs
on loan. The GST rates on electric
vehicles were also brought down from
12 to 5%.
The government’s policies like FAME
1 and FAME 2 and schemes like PLI
scheme were the major boost for the
EV industry. The state governments of
India are also taking initiatives to
promote the use of electric vehicles.
They are providing concessions to EV
buyers.
These concessions include exemption
from road tax, low interest rates on
loans, financial subsidy, and lower
registration charges. The initiatives for
public transport entities, bulk
purchasing of electric vehicles for the
public sector have been taken by the
government.
The infrastructure has been developed
by the government for charging EVs,
development of battery and EV
manufacturing, and scrapping centres.
Future of Electric Vehicles in
Commercial Space
As electric vehicles are trending in the
automobile industry, their market
shares are also expected to grow
rapidly. The benefit that electric
commercial vehicles offer apart from
reducing environmental pollution is
that these vehicles can reduce the oil
import in the country.
The reduction in oil import in India can
benefit the Indian economy. In India,
electric vehicles can be a one stop
solution to many problems. This
includes problems related to
environment and steep import bills for
oil.
Apart from the benefits mentioned, the
factors which are encouraging the
acceptance of electric vehicles in the
Indian market are corporate
sustainability and low maintenance
cost. In the consumer space, electric
vehicles still have a long way to go due
to the lack of charging stations and
high costs. But in commercial space,
the growth of electric vehicles is
expected.
According to DataLabs, the electric
commercial vehicles are expected to
dominate the market rather than
passenger vehicles. In the study, it is
predicted that the commercial electric
vehicles will hold the 70% of market
share by 2030.
To achieve this target by 2030, the
country needs to create a closed-loop
mobility ecosystem. It needs to
establish a robust supply chain and
bridge the gaps in the charging
infrastructure. This step by the auto
manufacturers is important to make the
shift of diesel vehicles to electric
vehicles feasible. In the future, when
electric vehicles will be aged, there
will be a need for recycling stations to
recover the metal from used batteries.
This step can make the shift
environment friendly.

Engineering.
Acing the Pandemic Challenges
The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted
one and all, both on an individual level
as well as at the corporate level. It has
been more than a year now since the
entire world has been battling this
dreaded virus and it has surely made us
realize the power of mother nature. At
this point of time, it is essential to take
utmost precaution and take all
necessary safety measure to keep
ourselves and our loved ones strong
and healthy both mentally and
physically. The team at Patel
Engineering has strived hard to take
care of all their employees and their
families and have rolled out
vaccination drives for all, who are
associated with the company including
the extended contract workers at all
their sites.
The last one-and-a-half years has had
its share of ups and downs. Various
lockdowns and restrictions, which
were enforced had an impact on the
economy at large. However, the
government of India has been focusing
and has set many policies in favour of
the infrastructure sector in order to
ensure world class infrastructure is set
up in the country.
To stay on top of the game in these
times, Patel Engineering Ltd. always
believed in working with very stringent
timelines for executing works and
mobilizing funds. Moreover, dealing
with the pressing requirements of
clients and bankers has helped the
company tide through the pandemic.
"We as the company have strived
towards achieving all our targets and
goals within the specific time limits
that we set out for us. We have also
strived to keep up to the market trends
and keep ourselves up-to-date to stay
relevant in such testing times," states
the team of Patel Engineering.
Vision Ahead
First and foremost, the most important
goal for the company is to continue to
build on to its order book, which
currently stands at Rs.14467/- crores as
st
on 31 March 2021. The company
focuses on improving on its order
booking going forward and continue
bidding for all major projects.
In view of the recent government
initiatives and the introduction of the
National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP)
are very likely to give a boost to the
infrastructure industry in the country
and Patel Engineering looks forward to
making the most of this opportunity.
The new orders shall give a good boost
to overall growth of the company and
hence, improve its profitability.
The other goal for the company is to
reduce the debt burden further. It has
managed to reduce the total debt by
more than Rs.3,500 crores in the last
few years. The company is one of the
few entities to come out and stand tall
after undergoing debt restructuring
schemes of SDR and S4A. It is
continuously looking to sell its real
estate and other non-core assets to
repay and reduce debt further apart
from possible reduction of Rs.300-400
crore debt over next 4-5 years. This
would further help increase liquidity
for the company.
It also has plans to merge some of its
subsidiaries with itself, which will help
reduce costs and ensure that the
company get synergies of operations
throughout the group.
