The quote describes the zeal of a leader who is not
only clear on what needs to be done, but also knows
how to do it effectively and efficiently. The
dynamic business leader we are talking about here is none
other than Ravi Thummarukudy, CEO of Mobiveil.
Mobiveil is a fast‐growing technology company that
specializes in development of Silicon Intellectual Property
(SIP), platforms and solutions for flash storage,
networking/communications and enterprise markets.
Ravi always had a curious mind and believes in continuous
learning. Ravi started his career as a scientist at Indian
Space Research Organization (ISRO) but soon migrated to
VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integration) and electronic product
development. Thankfully, these domains are extremely
dynamic with plenty of opportunities for innovation and
learning. He always sought a win-win relationship with his
customers, and it gave him great pleasure to connect with
them and understand their plans and aspirations as well.
According to Ravi, it was the Mobiveil team that inspired
him to think big and look for even greater challenges.
Mobiveil is bound by the passion for technologies that
accelerate electronics product development. His co-
“I believe in setting the vision and communicating and
motivating the team around the common vision and then
through consultation, establishing periodic goals for each
group. I prefer the team to use their creative energy to
accomplish these goals. I trust my team and do not try to
micromanage them daily.”
13. founders at Mobiveil – Gopa Periyadan (COO), Amit
Saxena (VP of Engineering), Srinivasan Duraiswamy (MD,
Indian operations) were his colleagues at the previous start-
up GDA. Working with them and other senior managers
has been very satisfying journey for Ravi, as has being a
part of an interesting domain. He feels grateful working
alongside highly creative customers and a highly skilled
and talented Mobiveil team.
Mobiveil’s motto is “Investors in Innovation.” We are
investors in R&D in many areas in electronics, such as
technologies that goes into flash storage, enterprise/cloud,
IoT, and automotive markets. In electronics, domain
standardization is key to the disaggregation of the industry
and unlocking innovation and market potential of fast-
growing companies like Mobiveil. Standardization has
enabled engineers at Mobiveil to cooperate with their
counterparts from leading electronics companies around the
world. It also allowed R&D companies like Mobiveil to
monetize their IP by designing it once and reusing it many
times. Currently, Mobiveil is part of several industry
standard organizations. It implements these standards and
markets them as reuseable IP to semiconductor
development groups worldwide.
“Our customers implement the standards-based design we
license in their semiconductor chips as a building block,”
I had the technical
and business skills
needed to be a CEO before
venturing into the world
of entrepreneurship.

Silicon Valley those days,

a startup and along
with couple of friends

in 1997
Ravi Thummarukudy, CEO of Mobiveil
14. says Ravi. Mobiveil also goes one step further by not only
developing the technology but also producing an
application platform enabling customers to accelerate their
product development. Over the years, Mobiveil’s
management learned that an innovative team needs to
maintain an open work culture with the least amount of
hierarchy so employees can learn while contributing to
customer success. “A small company culture allows our
employees to take more ownership and responsibility. It
helps them grow quickly personally and professionally,”
states Ravi.
Navigating through Rough Patches
Like most companies, when Mobiveil was founded, it was
an unknown. Because of the high cost of fabricating
semiconductors, it is extremely tough for start-up
companies to be a supplier of key building blocks to large
electronics product companies. Even if the company knew
Ravi and the team, Mobiveil did not have a history or track
record. Thanks to Mobiveil’s leadership in critical standards
development, technologies and platforms, many doors soon
opened up enabling the company to grow rapidly.
Once Mobiveil started working with customers, it kept
them as their long-term partners. Sometimes it took several
years to be qualified as vendors with some large customers.
In other cases, it was difficult to run operations profitably
on a quarterly basis, one of Mobiveil’s important objectives.
In 2007,
GDA was acquired by
L&T Infotech and I worked
there until 2012. While
there was nothing to
complain about working at
L&T, we longed for the
excitement and freedom of
a startup venture and set up
Mobiveil with few friends
and colleagues
15. “In our domain, technologies change rapidly, and we need
to be at the top of our game to react to the changing
requirements from our customers,” explains Ravi.
Like every company, the pandemic had a major impact on
Mobiveil’s operations. Some of the work is well suited for
remote working so the team quickly mobilized an
infrastructure to complete such work. Also, many customers
accommodated Mobiveil consultants’ need to work
remotely. “Some work needed to happen at the lab. We had
no choice but to strictly implement local COVID-19
guidelines irrespective of the cost,” describes Ravi.
Ravi believes that working remotely is not the best way to
innovate since many ideas are created by interaction
between different teams, oftentimes in informal settings. He
looks forward to the time where the majority of the
Mobiveil team can go back to the office. Overall, the
Mobiveil team responded to the pandemic and was able to
grow the business last year.
Striving for Success
Most of Mobiveil’s work is for next-generation products
and technologies where there is plenty to learn for
everyone, probably the best motivator for employees.
Employees who are curious and smart can learn a lot and
thrive at Mobiveil. An open work culture helps facilitate
without barriers allows easy communications, continuous
learning and growth opportunities.
When advising young entrepreneurs, Ravi offers, “Do
something you enjoy and be passionate about it. Look for a
team equally passionate about your dreams that can
support you in accomplishing that goal.” Indeed,
understanding customers and employees is crucial in
creating and running a successful business.
In terms of future growth, Ravi believes that Mobiveil has
excellent growth prospects as it observes many prospective
areas in electronics product development including cloud
applications, security, IoT and autonomous driving. He sees
the Indian market to be primed for companies like Mobiveil
to develop electronics products customized for local
applications.
Along the way, Mobiveil setup a VLSI institute to train
fresh graduates. “At Ampere VLSI institute, we teach VLSI
design not from academic point of view but from a
practitioner’s point of view.” Successful candidates who
come out of this institute will be either absorbed by
Mobiveil or are easily qualified to join prestigious
corporations.”

others is a basic piece
of the equation for
accomplishing your goals and
dreams. We all had our shares of
disappointment with our
colleagues, friends and partners
who wouldn't coordinate with us,
and representatives who couldn't
be motivated.
Considering stories of our past
that changed the direction of our
life – that could either be a story
of enormous success or
catastrophes, that could either be
on how we are inspiring others or
even others are directing us with
a path of growth.
It is essential to set aside those
efforts and understand what the
basic facts were across every one
of them. Was there a repetitive
subject or message altogether?
Permit those messages to seep

bragging about potential and proficiency, and start
speaking on the skillsets and aptitude that is actually
beneficial for them.
Encouraging for public speaking is also a significant part
to shape the identity and inherent true inspiring words
into their persona. The principles of public speaking are
generally applied to maintain or raise a business.
Understand what your crowd definitely knows and
needs and use sympathised words to find your crowd's
needs and necessities. By thinking about your
audience's viewpoint, you'll find their perspective while
likewise facilitating your own jitters. With training,
you'll discover that showing sympathy is quite possibly
the most incredible assets in dominating how to inspire
others through entrepreneurship.
However, accomplishing your goals in work and life, and
exclusively focusing on the results is certainly not a
viable method to inspire and motivate others. At the
point when you're only oriented with goal, you lose that
individual touch that charms others to your motivation.
Understanding that cooperating with others is process
of creativity and it’s crucial to value everybody's style
of leadership, regardless of whether it's
entrepreneurial, administrative or creative.
When you are exhibiting respect for all, on mutual
terms, the way toward working together or uplifting
others through risk-taking experience, then it turns into
a wellspring of motivation all by itself.
thing that makes you normally inspires one to
accomplish something. It is the thing that eventually
moves others to become a better version of them.
It is these messages, conveyed verbally and through
your activities that genuinely strike individuals' souls. It
comes from what your identity is, the place where you
have come from and what your message is to the world
and to your group. Lead from that point and you will
rouse hoards that you may never at any point meet.
While working in a corporate, we meet a number of
people with different sets of leadership skills – First,
there are leaders who just believe in doing their work
on time and not take much effort in aspiring others.
Then there are the leaders, who have worked hard to
reach at a position and are more passionate about their
work. They not necessarily take active part in handling
certain responsibility but at the same time want their
influence to be deemed.
There are also inspiring leaders who mold others
though their achievements in workforce and assist
others to perform better. But again, there are still these
hidden qualities that set apart some leaders who build
their legacy in an organization, inspires other to come
out of their comfort zone and do things that are right
for them. They help them in believing themselves and
guide them with where they truly belong in their career
and life.
Ultimately, the idea of investing in entrepreneurship
emerged, to make people envision their goals and apply
their expertise – in designing their innovativeness to a
fully-fledged business.
It is important to encourage people through
entrepreneurship to focus on building their relationship
with others. Without a strong establishment of trust, it's
inconceivable for somebody you're attempting to
inspire, to feel great around you. Approach this
individual from a state of interest in their inclinations.
From here, you're better ready to discover regions of
union to shape those goals. At the point when the two
players appreciate a relationship and advantage from
their cooperation, structures the premise of seeing how
to move others.
Allow your actions to speak for themselves – if you really
believe in inspiring others through your years of
experience, accomplishments and flexibility of handling
situations – then it’s important to leave your ego

22. Dedicated CEOs have a clear vision and a strategic
game plan to achieve company goals. Successful
CEOs care for their employees’ well-being and
treat employees as family. The best CEOs are gifted with
wisdom, foresight, and an indomitable drive. One such
CEO changing the business landscape is Chanie Gluck, the
CEO and Founder of 4D Global, Inc – an Arizona based
company with offices in Chennai.
Chanie’s entrepreneurial journey began 18 years ago. And
she has not looked back since. She learned not only how to
be a successful CEO, but also how to lead a team of
hundreds of employees.
About 14 years ago, Chanie made her first trip to India. At
that time, Chanie owned a medical billing company and
needed first-hand research on medical billing outsourcing.
She searched for information on Indian outsourcing
companies, but this was before the days of social media,
and so the primary information source was limited to
company websites.
After this initial trip, Chanie decided to launch 4D Global,
an American-owned and managed medical billing company
based in India. Her goal was to employ some of the most
experienced medical billing talent in all of Chennai, and be
a place where people loved to work. Chanie vowed to treat
her employees with dignity and respect, ensuring that
everyone felt secure to voice their opinions and initiate
changes for the better.
Over the years, Chanie achieved this by developing a
company culture of positivity and providing virtually
unlimited opportunities for employee growth and
advancement. Chanie celebrates employee birthdays and
weddings and respects the holidays of Indians of all
religions and ethnicities.
A Motivated Frontrunner
Chanie is inspired by her 4D Global team. They all strive to
succeed and grow in their career paths with the company.
She sees much potential in many of the team leaders, even
if they don’t see it in themselves. Chanie derives much joy
and fulfillment every day watching the company leadership
teams develop and advance.
For Chanie, being a CEO means being responsible and
concerned not only for the life and career of one’s
employees, but also for their families. She takes this
responsibility seriously and always tries to put them first
while making company decisions. For example, 4D Global
voluntarily pays death benefits to company employees that
experience a sudden death in the family.
Combating the Pandemic
Like everyone else, 4D Global experienced the effects of
not being able to work in-office and had to quickly adjust to
a remote work situation. Furthermore, employees had to
perform this transition while maintaining a rigorously high
standard of results for the clients.

24. “I’m extremely proud of how the 4D Global team used this
opportunity to showcase their dedication to excellence, but
even more so that they contributed to their community
during the pandemic by distributing food, water, and other
necessities to those less fortunate.”.
Perceiving Challenges as Opportunities
Chanie led 4D Global to handle the worldwide challenge of
the COVID-19 pandemic exceptionally well. “Because it hit
the U.S. before India, we had some time to prepare for it,
including a smooth transition to working remotely,” she
says. Although many fellow companies had to lay off or
dismiss their sales team, 4D Global doubled down and grew
its sales team and the business significantly during the
pandemic.
Chanie further adds, “There are many challenges we as
CEOs face. I view each one as a teachable moment to show
employees how we can use each obstacle as an opportunity
to learn, grow and improve for the future”.
A Compassionate Leader
“You can feel the energy and positivity of the 4D Global
team the minute you walk into our offices”. Under her
leadership, the company strives to create a sense of
community and friendship that starts at work but hopefully
lasts a lifetime for each employee.
The company’s culture committee plans various events,
including Fun Friday activities, and monthly cricket games.
4D Global recently moved to a bigger, modern office that
provides employees with amenities such as a gym and a
large cafeteria. The investment into our employees’
worksite means that employee welfare, and overall
happiness is our priority. “We want all employees to love
their job and feel natural loyalty to the company. Our
employees know that we truly care about them – and it’s
reflected in all aspects of the company.
About 4D Global
4D Global serves medical billing companies to scale up and
grow their business – leading to increased efficiency and
profitability. 4D Global’s mission is to exceed expectations
in delivery, performance, and accuracy. It achieves this by
performing data entry and revenue cycle management tasks
through clear-cut processes, open communication, and
quality review at various levels.
The core values of 4D Global are respect, integrity,
teamwork, innovation, growth, and excellence.
4D Global constantly works on creating and maintaining
close relationships with all of its clients.
Inspiring Words
Addressing the young entrepreneurs, Chanie says, “Dare to
be brave”. No doubt, the path to entrepreneurship is
challenging. It is not for everyone, because it requires a full
range of skills, from sales, human resources, operations,
finance, marketing and so much more. The key is to be an
avid learner and to cultivate skills in each of these areas and
beyond.
“In the startup phase, you’ll have to wear multiple hats and
be knowledgeable about each of your company’s core
activities. As you grow your business, you’ll be able to
afford to build your team by hiring people with experience
in these areas”.
Chanie encourages the emerging leaders to be a lifetime
learner. She advises them to read, listen to podcasts, and
create value for others. “Of course, you must invest in
yourself and your personal development, but also don’t
neglect to take time to enjoy life”, adds Chanie.
Pathway to the Future
Speaking of her upcoming plans, Chanie says 4D Global
will continue to grow the business each year while
maintaining fiscal health. “I plan to continue to grow along
with the company, but eventually, we will hire a CEO to
replace my spot.” Chanie is passionate about giving back to
the Chennai community and plans to continue finding
charitable causes in India for which she can make a
difference.
“You might be seeing more of me soon! I’m a partner in the
upcoming reality television show ‘The Social Movement,’
on which I’ll be tasked with finding a solution to a world
problem…in four days!” She is excited to see what ideas
the “Social Movement” show will generate and if another
company or business idea will be created through it.

28. Every workplace relies on the relationship
between the employer and the employee. They
also reflect on the applicant's work history and
level of education while looking for the best candidate
to fill a position. It may also come down to who they
know or who recommended them. The skills of the
applicant, however, should be the main priority.
Employers look for certain skills in a candidate,
regardless of the position they will fill. Every employee,
from entry-level employees to executives, should have
these personal skills in order to thrive and help your
business grow. Everyone is the workplace has the same
relationship with each and every one of their
employees, and it is this relationship that decides the
quality and effect of that employee's tenure at the
company.
In order to benefit everyone in the company as a whole,
an employer's relationship with their employees must
be nurtured and cared for. Employees who have a good
employer-employee partnership feel valued,
encouraged, and protected. These feelings foster high
employee morale and a vibrant company atmosphere
by fostering enthusiasm and commitment in the
workplace.
Employees who are happier are more likely to give it
their all at work. Employee satisfaction impacts
everything from revenue to employee engagement
because happy workers are more likely to work their
hardest and remain in their jobs for the long haul.
Many traditional employer-employee relationships
differ on a scale of closeness and familiarity, but these
are five main characteristics which should be present in
all employer-employee relationships:
Thankfulness:
Thankfulness and gratitude should occur on both sides
of the relationship, but the employer's obligation to
consider and acknowledge outstanding work from their
workers is likely to be greater. Employees may become
disheartened, dissatisfied, and apathetic about their
work if they regularly perform and receive little to no
recognition, which decreases productivity. A simple
thank you is always sufficient (and this is true in both
directions), but employers may wish to actively reward
their workers for genuinely outstanding performance.
To figure out what this is, they should depend on their
intuition and knowledge of the individual.
Communication:
Openness and Communication are essential
components of every safe working climate. Employers
can assist in the creation of an open and truthful
environment by asking workers candid questions about
their lives, families, and hobbies. Employees can
contribute to this environment by being open about
their personal lives outside of work. For circumstances
that are critical to the organisation or need a serious
approach, openness and communication are even more
necessary. For workers, this may mean telling their
supervisor about a family emergency that could impact
their performance, or voicing a desire to change jobs.
Support:
Employers may want their workers to achieve their full
potential and understand when their talents go beyond
their current duties. Allowing natural talents to stagnate
would cause boredom and anger in the employee, as well
as waste valuable resources that could be better used to
support the team, as previously reported. Create a
diagram of your ideal business structure, or your current
business structure, and list every task and position that
is required for it to function properly. This will not only
help you to recognise holes in your current team, but it
will also enable you to determine who is doing well and
who would be better suited to a more senior role.
Reliability:
Both the employer and the employee should be able to
rely on each other in a healthy way. The employer
expects the employee to do a good job for the company's
benefit, while the employee expects the employer to
treat them equally and pay them fairly. Problems will
eventually arise if this collective dependence becomes
imbalanced or one-way. The employer may begin to
believe that the employee's efforts are no longer
valuable to the company and dismiss them, while the
employee may lose interest in their work and become
disengaged.
Respect:
It's perfectly acceptable to develop a stronger bond with
your workers, even to the point of socialising with them
outside of work hours. Even in a laid-back setting, it's
important to maintain the traditional hierarchical
structure and make sure your workers are aware of it.
Whether it's about tasks, employee appraisals, or
constructive criticism, as a leader, you must be prepared
to give your team truthful and frank feedback. Romantic
relationships in the workplace are often a bad idea, but
keep in mind that they may have an impact on the
workplace long before they become public or common
knowledge — perhaps without either party realising it.
Simply drafting an office code of ethics, as well as a set of
rules or regulations outlining the desired dynamics of
the employer-employee relationship, is not enough.
Natural habits are created only by repetition, and
employers can promote these behaviours through
leading by example which will definitely make up for a
good employer.

Words for the Future Leaders
Mr Kali advises the emerging entrepreneurs to be prepared to
fail. He says, “In my 13 years of professional career, I made
mistakes and learned a great deal of knowledge about the
importance of failing”. However, that did not stop him from
achieving what he dreamt of.
Mr. Kali invested in analyzing true entrepreneurship by
learning from his previous failures and initiated reorganizing
things the right way. He believes that to do it all in a more
precise way, one needs a special set of entrepreneurial traits.
Mr Kali states that leaders should never hesitate to take risks
and implement new ideas. Because, if they do not
take risks then they will not be able to know what
the possible outcomes might be. Hence, he always
encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to take risks and
invest in new ideas.
He advises, “Have a clear vision and take action.
A true entrepreneur always has the vision to create
something that adds value to the world”. He
believes that to achieve their vision, one needs to
put in appropriate action. Without proper action,
their ideas will not become a reality.
According to Mr. Kali, another important thing that
makes a strong entrepreneur succeed is having a
bunch of good and dedicated people who believe in
the company’s goal. Like-minded people are an
added bonus for any business as they bring about
necessary changes in the business in a faster way.
Last but not the least, he advises the leaders of
tomorrow to always challenge themselves. By
challenging themselves, they will get to know what
they are capable of. “You will accomplish wonders
that you never even thought of achieving”, adds
Mr. Kali.

ultimate goal is to expand the services across the
nation in order to achieve a PAN India presence”.
