The document describes the iterative process of designing a magazine page layout. 2. 1 I added the
coloured boxes, as
it would help me
visually when
placing the graphic
features.
I originally had chosen this
picture, as I think it has an
urban edge due to the
brick background
At this point I was not
100% sure on what text
I wanted to use, and I
wanted to ensure I had
written one that was
completely
appropriate, before
adding it.

3.  I had then decided to
change the central image,
as I believed this one was
more fitting.
I had decided to change
the header by adding the
‘Getting to know’ part, to
make it seem as if it is a
consistent page in the
magazine, that is
featured in every issue.
I had also chosen the text I
wanted to use for my
summary of the article.
Ensuring the ‘(Available on
ITunes now)’ part stood out,
to grab the eye.
I had also chosen an
appropriate pull quote, and by
mentioning an extremely
rapper (Jay Z) it automatically
would draw in his fans to read
the article as well.
I had also removed
the ‘Flash’ as it
looked out of
place, where it
originally was placed.

4. 4.
 I changed the font of the
header, as I thought this
font, and background
fitted with the theme I
was trying to follow.
Overall adding a more
professional feel.
I moved the second graphic
image to the bottom right
hand corner, and ensured it
was one that really portrayed
his wealth. Which is why I
chose to use one with an
expensive car.
I included the buzz word ‘WIN’
to grab the attention of the
eye, and added an opportunity
to win concert tickets. I
thought it was important to add
this as, prizes help entice
readers into becoming loyal to
a company.

5.  I had now decided on the
questions and answers of the
article, and made sure I listened to
my feedback about not making
them to long, or to short.
3.I then wanted to double
check I had made the
right choice with the
header, and so tried the
old font again, to see how
it looked on the page.
The smaller
graphic feature
was removed as
I wanted to
simplify the
page.

6. 5.Changing it back, I
decided to go with the
second font option.
I had changed the
‘Available on ITunes’ to
red, to fit in with the
white, black and red
theme of the page.

7. 6.
I lowered the placement
of the pull quote, so
there would be a better
focus on the central
Image.
I added the ‘TB’ to
represent the name of
the magazine (The
Beat) and also as a
way of framing the
text.
I had changed the background
colour so that the ‘TB’ could be
seen, and also because it
blended better with the rest of
the colours.
