On the 2 April, 2016, I went to see the longest–running production in Broadway history, "The
Phantom of the Opera" at Majestic Theater on 247 West 44th Street Manhattan, New York. The
opening night, premiere of the spectacle was on January 26, 1988. The musical is based on the novel
"Le Fantom de L'Opera" by Gaston Leroux, under Harold Prince directory. The organizer of the
theater production is Philip J.Smith and Robert E. Wankel is the president. The musical is classified
as a horror in genre, and it aroused confusing feelings in me, from the rapture of infantile style and
delight to fine tune of plot. It revolves around the man who sheltered outside of the world in the
underground cavern who is lonely, romantic man tutors and composes operas for Christine. He hunts
the Paris Opera building in Europe. This play belongs to original track that should be familiar with
everyone. In the opera change of a leaderships happens, new directors receives a message that the
opera is hunted by a ghost as the tittle suggests–phantom. Richard and Moncharmin get another
message stated that alleged phantom wrote "the book claims" that consists excessive financial
requirements. Despite the phantom's threats the directors ignored the request. In such as a turn of the

Roger Waters mentions Webber's thievery in an interview about the album and its similarities to
Webber's, but ultimately shrugs off taking Webber to court knowing he could not possibly win the

There is a divide between those with money and those without. Wealth bought power and privilege,
which allowed Potiphar to buy Joseph when he was sold into slavery. Wealth also allowed for

wife. In Egypt, Pharaoh held all the power. He would get what he wanted or else someone would
pay a price. He had the power to pardon Joseph and release him from jail. When Joseph interprets
the dreams correctly and comes up with a plan for the famine, he gains status in the ranks of
Pharaoh's advisors. He can then use this power to both help and test his brothers when they suddenly

I looked on as Del Packard struggled with the police about getting into the car. The people who had
gathered around to watch the action asked about what had occurred and how I managed to figure it
out. I repeated the story of the murder out loud as I had practiced multiple times before in my head.
Del was worried about Rich removing him from his will taking with it the only life he knew and

is an opera singer. The opera house is bought by two people, whom are unaware of the role the

It is "arguably the most popular musical of all time" and for good reason(The Phantom of the Opera
Website). "The Phantom of the Opera" has been performed in many countries and continents such as
Africa, Australia, Japan, and Latin America, and over 130 million people have seen it (The Phantom

show is kind of a flashback and it's not really taking place in real time. That's not very apparent
throughout the show and it does not really impact it but I enjoy that it's different. I also never

it was a part of. I really enjoy this show despite it not really being my type of musical. I like that it is

The musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has lyrics written by Tim Rice and
music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Gänzl). Joseph is one of Lloyd Webber's most popular works and
has been performed in multiple countries both professionally and in schools. It is based on the story
of Joseph and his coat of many colors from the Torah. The majority of the musical takes place in
ancient Egypt during Biblical times. Joseph's interpretation of ancient Egypt influences the
audience's perception of the country in that time.
Joseph's first "performance" was in March of 1968 at St. Paul's Junior school in London England
Originally composed for a school choir as a 25 minute piece. It was the first piece of work by Lloyd

There are many ways to tell a story. Throughout my life I've find this to be true. As a storyteller
myself, I always try my best to utilize the many different approaches to telling a story. Whether
through music, books, poetry, drawings, films, etc. I've tried them all. I've always been fascinated by
other people's stories. I will always try to retell them myself. Most of the time I usually just talk
about them. But once in awhile, I like to use what I think is the most powerful form of storytelling,
music. Music has been part of my life for a while now. Throughout middle school and high school I
was in both Band and Choir. And throughout these years I come to understand the power that music
has with storytelling. Especially in films, I've grown up watching films and they have impacted my
life greatly. The films, "Jesus Christ Super Star," "La La Land," and "The Grand Budapest Hotel"
have a musical score that expresses a story better than any words could ever express.
I grew up Catholic, just as my family grew up Catholic. Every year during the season of Lent,
around the time of Holy Week, my family and I would honor Jesus's final days with many traditions.
Tradition such as attending mass, receiving palms, having our feet washed and of course watching
the 1974 classic "Jesus Christ Superstar." Now the Roman Catholic Church dosen't considered
"Jesus Christ Superstar" a tradition, but I do. My family and I will all get together and eat some
popcorn and drink some pop.

But almost no one recall the original novel of Gaston Leroux, which, as I personally think,
undeservedly forgotten.
I have read the original novel after watching the movie and the musical. In this work I would like to
compare the novel and the movie to each other. For comparison I have chose the movie "The
Phantom of the Opera" of 2004, by Joel Schumacher.
There are significant differences between the original novel and the plot of the movie, despite the
creators saved the major storyline.
The most significant difference between the novel and the movie, that I have noticed, is related with
positioning of the main character. In the novel Opera Ghost Eric is shown as a complicated and
controversial person. We learn him not only as a musician but also as a traveller and an engineer. In
the novel only three characters have seen the Phantom of the Opera close enough. They are
Christine, Raul and Persian. In the movie Opera Ghost is almost depersonalized. He have lost his
name and turned into a cold–minded, prudent, ruthless and possessed

they filmed, portrayed a perfect innocent Christine with a voice of an angle. Many agree Rossum
"seems born to play Christine, the trusting ingénue" (Puig). It is possibly she even upstage the
talented Sarah Brightman with her portrayal of Christine. On the other hand, her counterpart Raoul,
who was played by Patrick Wilson was not as successful as the swashbuckling hero. Although, his
voice did help distract one from what he lacked in other areas. US Today's review says "Butler's
brooding Phantom is a much more compelling screen presence, and the half of his face we do see is
manly and handsome" (Puig). Gerald Butler played the phantom and he did this with ease, even

Phantom of the Opera was created by the amazing Andrew Lloyd Webber. Andrew was born on
March 22, 1948, in South Kensington in London, England. He was the first of two sons of William
Lloyd Webber, who was an organist and composer. His mother, Jean Johnstone, was a pianist and
violinist. Andrew Lloyd Webber learned to play many musical instruments at home and began
composing extremely early. He continued his musical studies at Westminster School, where his

She is our protagonist. Her father died when she was only seven. There is also a man, of the name
which is not said. His name in the play is just The Phantom of the Opera. He however, has actually
had a much more torched life than poor Christine. He was abused as a child and was deformed.
Because if that, he was sent into a circus gang and was later taken out by the people of theatre. The
Phantom was sent to live under the theatre. There, he learned many songs and kept all the extra and

The Phantom of the Opera started out as a book written by Gaston Leroux, published January 8th in
1910 (Haining, 1). There have been several adaptations since then, including Andrew Lloyd
Webber's musical. The other adaptations were Das Phantom der Opera, which is also known as Das
Gespent im Opernhaus produced during 1916 in Germany as a silent drama film, this is known as a
lost film due to no known copies existing at this time. A silent drama horror was produced on
November 15th, 1925, a drama thriller was produced during August 27th in 1943, a horror film was
produced June 25th during 1962, and an indie thriller, called Phantom of the Paradise was adapted
from Phantom of the Opera and then produced in October 31st of 1974.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the son of William Lloyd Webber as well as an English composer and
producer who studied at Westminster school, RCM and then at Oxford University. He wrote
incidental music for shows at toy theaters before he went to Westminster. While at Westminster he
wrote music for school revues. Afterwards he was commissioned to write choral music for Colet
Court School. Webber has also written film scores and variations for a cello and rock band (Lamb
1). He divorced his first wife in September 1983 and the next year married Sarah Brightman. She
proceeded to create the role of Christine to test her vocal range as a soprano. They were divorced in
November 1990 (Callum 1).

In the University Of Arizona Museum Of Art, the Pfeiffer Gallery is displaying many art pieces of
oil on canvas paintings. These paintings are mostly portraits of people, both famous and not. They
are painted by a variety of artists of European decent and American decent between the mid 1700's
and the early 1900's. The painting by Elizabeth Louise Vigee–Lebrun caught my eye and drew me in
to look closely at its composition.

The little girl's dress gives the texture of lightness and seems like airy fabric that would be thin and
translucent. The time in this piece is very accurate of the late 1700's and when viewing it, the time
seems classic. The emphasis of this piece is mainly the mother and the daughter, however when
looking at them you are drawn into looking at their realistic eyes. The eyes seem like the focal point
which draws the viewer in to the picture.
The relationship in the painting between the mother and daughter give it a definite asymmetrical
balance and maybe a little radial balance. A radial balance because of their eyes being the central
focus, then the faces, then the holding of each other, then where they are placed on the canvas, and
then the bench and the landscape. The colors used by the painter, also creates balance with in the
picture. The wine colored dress of the mother, red sash of the daughter's dress, ruby lips, and the
rosy cheeks give a warm feeling to the central focus of the mother and daughter. The cool color of
the sky is the same as the women's eyes as well as the trees and green on the mother's dress. These
balances give unity or a unifying feeling to the painting, especially between the mother and
daughter.

movies, there was Broadway. Broadway originated in New York in 1750, when actor–manager
Walter Murray built a theatre company at the Theatre on Nassau Street. A musical would show about
once every weekend. The shows were very male based, and would commonly show a relationship
between young boys and their fathers. Women were slowly integrated into Broadway, and as society
changed its point of view on women, so did theatre.

There is immense power in well–written satire: it can make its audience laugh with witticisms
rooted in truths, even make them think differently about any subject, mundane or critical. Bad satire,
however, emphasizes all the wrong parts: it gets its facts wrong, goes off track, and closes its
audience's minds to any new way of thinking it might present. Li Chongyue and Wang Lihua's
article would be bad satire, a bad argument. Chongyue and Lihua's "A Caricature of an Ungrateful
and Unfaithful Wife" distorts Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" through imaginative
exaggeration of character interaction, emotional ignorance, and its simplification of the characters
and the text. Firstly, there is no evidence in the text of "The Story of an Hour" to suggest that Louise
Mallard has been at all unfaithful to her husband. One sentence within the article suggests that some
readers have sensed an extramarital affair–or an attempted one–between Mrs. Mallard and Richards,
which, given its inclusion, the authors appear to agree with (Chongyue and Lihua). However,
Richards is mentioned by name in the text of the short story three times: at the beginning when he
confirmed the news of Brently Mallard's death, toward the end when he awaited Josephine and
Louise at the bottom of the staircase, and when he tries to block Louise from seeing Brently Mallard
