The New Deal was a set of federal programs launched by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 in response to the Great Depression. It had four major goals: economic recovery through stabilizing banks and prices; job creation through agencies that employed millions of workers; investment in public works like buildings, roads, and parks; and civic uplift through improvements that reshaped American communities. The New Deal aimed to provide relief, promote recovery, and reform the economy and financial system.
