This document discusses the potential for mobile phones to become health hubs using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. It describes the Continua Health Alliance, which has selected Bluetooth as the standard for connecting medical devices. Bluetooth Low Energy allows devices like weight scales to advertise their services to mobile phones, which can then select apps to access the device's data and integrate it with health services. This creates opportunities for accessory makers, app developers, mobile carriers and others. CSR provides Bluetooth Low Energy silicon and software to enable these connections between accessories and mobile phones. Open standards, apps and certification are still needed to fully realize this vision of mobile health.
