the priests and
monks and
nuns, most
bishops come
from nobles.
5. Abbot
• An Abbot in
the middle
ages is a
person in
the church
that has
more power
than monks,
and he can
control
them.
6. Monks and Nuns
• They are men and women that dedicate
themselves and their lives to God; praying,
helping the poor etc. A monk or a nun is a
"properly member" in a monastery or a
convent under a more powerful person. The
difference between a monk and a nun is that
monks are males who live in monasteries and
nuns are females who live in convents.
7. Convents
• A convent is an
organization that is
made and controlled by
monks and nuns. They
are religious people that
have a high rank.
8. Cardinals
• The cardinals are people that are chosen by
the pope, and they form a sacred college,
which then choose the pope that will rule
after the death of the other one.
9. Abbess
• In the middle ages an abbess was a woman
that is superior over a group of convent nuns.
She is basically similar to an abbot, but the is
a female.
10. Secular Clergy
• They are
religious people.
They are exactly
like the priests,
but they are not
joining the
catholic church,
and they help
and support
people with
advices., they
interfere with
people.
11. Regular Clergy
• They are the same as a secular clergy, they
give people advices to support them, but the
only difference is that they work in the
church.
12. Archbishop
• An archbishop
is as a regular
bishop, but
the
archbishop
has a higher
rank than a
bishop they
have higher
rank.
13. Parish Priest
• A parish priest is a regular priest, he controls a
small church rather than a big one. Yet he is in
charge of the legal aspects of the church.
14. Parish Church
• This church is the one controlled by a parish
priest. The difference between a parish
church and a regular church is that the parish
church is a small church than the regular, but
at the end they have the same things.
15. Vatican
• The Vatican is the largest church in the world
in which the pope lives and rule from it.
16. Curia
• A curia is a group of people that help control
the churches and they are under the Pope in
power right away. Another name for them is
Cardinals.
