This document provides an overview of different means of communication and how they have evolved. It discusses what means of communication are, how they are classified into interpersonal and mass media, and examples of each. It also examines how means of communication have changed over time from oral traditions to modern digital media. The document emphasizes that both interpersonal and mass media are important for sharing information and forming public opinions.
This document provides an overview of different means of communication and how they have evolved. It begins by defining means of communication as systems used to establish information exchange. It then classifies communication means as either interpersonal (between individuals) or mass media (reaching large audiences). Various mass media like print, broadcast, digital and audiovisual media are described. The document also discusses the importance of communication media and provides some examples from the past like cave paintings, bells, and carrier pigeons. It concludes by noting how technological developments have allowed people to connect across greater distances over time.
Media, Technology and Society - Introduction : A Second Media Age Faindra Jabbar
This document discusses media, technology, and society in the context of the first and second media ages. It describes how technology has changed how people interact and communicate through the expansion of social media networks. It also explains how various media like television are now interactive rather than one-way. Cyberculture and its effects on communication patterns and information access are examined. The interrelationship between media and technology and their influence on contemporary society is explored.
Historically, we have valued creative writing or art classes because they help to identify and train future writers and artists, but also because the creative process is valuable on its own; every child deserves the chance to express him- or herself through words, sounds, and images, even if most will never write, perform, or draw professionally. Having these experiences, we believe, changes the way youth think about themselves and alters the way they look at work created by others. In this session Mike King will present the art of digital storytelling as it applies to project based learning and authentic assessment. Participants will learn how to create digital mash-ups in a storyboard through the use of avatars, creative common picture searches, record written narratives in audacity, royalty free music and how to develop a digital story in MovieMaker, and or Photostory3.

The French Revolution occurred from 1789-1799 in France. It began with the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris in July 1789 by French citizens who were tired of the absolute monarchy of King Louis XVI. This led to the formation of a National Assembly to create a new government based on the ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. The Revolution had major effects both in France and worldwide by encouraging people to fight for their basic rights and sparking other revolutions.

The concept of 'social media' is vast and therefore this presentation looks at three key areas:
- The origins of social media
- Where social media is today + case studies of best practice
- Where we expect social media to go next
Social media has always been a personal and professional passion of mine so I wanted to tell story. Much of the research about the history of social media is taken from the work of Tom Standage, deputy editor of The Economist and author of 'Writing on the Wall', a historical look at social media over the last 2,000 years.
One of the key aspects of the presentation I would like people to take away is what I defined as the 'five key tenets of social media':
• Connection
• Engagement
• Shared interests
• Content
• Conversation
This document summarizes a white paper about major trends impacting content industries, including the disappearance of physical space due to ubiquitous connectivity, the asynchronicity of time in global collaboration, consumers becoming producers of content, consumers raising corporate consciousness through social media, and the blending of personal and professional lives online. It also announces a series of webinars discussing these trends and their implications.

CYBER SECURITY ENHANCEMENT IN NIGERIA. A CASE STUDY OF SIX STATES IN THE NORT...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Security plays an important role in human life and endeavors. Securing information and
disseminating are critical challenges in the present day. This study aimed at identifying innovative technologies
that aid cybercrimes and can constitute threats to cybersecurity in North Central (Middle Belt) Nigeria covering
its six States and the FCT Abuja. A survey research design was adopted. The researchers employed the use of
Google form in administering the structured questionnaire. The instruments were faced validated by one expert
each from ICT and security. Cronbach Alpha reliability Coefficient was employed and achieved 0.83 level of
coefficient. The population of the study was 200, comprising 100 undergraduate students from computer science
and Computer/Robotics Education, 80 ICT instructors, technologists and lecturers in the University and
Technical Colleges in the Middle Belt Nigeria using innovative technologies for their daily jobs and 20 officers
of the crime agency such as: Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) andEconomic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three research purposes and questions as well as the hypothesis guided the study
on Five (5) point Likert scale. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the three
research questions while three hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Major findings
revealed that serious steps are needed to better secure the cybers against cybercrimes. Motivation, types, threats
and strategies for the prevention of cybercrimes were identified. The study recommends that government,
organizations and individuals should place emphasis on moral development, regular training of its employees,
regular update of software, use strong password, back up data and information, produce strong cybersecurity
policy, install antivirus soft and security surveillance (CCTV) in offices in order to safeguard its employees and
properties from being hacked and vandalized.

On Storytelling & Magic Realism in Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Shame, and ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Salman Rushdie’s novels are humorous books about serious times. His cosmopolitanism and
hybrid identity allowed him access to multiple cultures, religions, languages, dialects, and various modes of
writing. His style is often classified as magic realism, blending the imaginary with the real. He draws
inspiration from both English literature and Indian classical sources. Throughout his works, there is a lineage of
‘bastards of history’, a carnival of shameful characters scrolling all along his works. Rushdie intertwines fiction
with reality, incorporating intertextual references to Western literature in his texts, and frequently employing
mythology to explore history. This paper focuses on Rushdie’s three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame, and
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, analyzing his postmodern storytelling techniques that aim to explore human
vices and follies while offering socio-political criticism.

3. What are means of communication?
Means of communication are all those
systems used for the establishment of a
communication.
These systems are mainly based on a set of
communication channels and instruments
that allow the development of an exchange
of information.
Nowadays, there are multiple means of
communication. Although this concept is
sometimes related only to mass media such
as radio or television, we also understand as
a means of communication two-way
communication systems such as the
telephone.
4. How have they evolved?
Origen de los medios de comunicación
The printing press The herald Word of mouth
Invented by Gutenberg, it is
considered the beginning of
mass media. Thousands of
pamphlets and newspapers
began to circulate and
become available on the
market.
This figure was an
individual who announced
the main news without any
support, only through his
voice in certain places of
the city.
The transmission of fables,
myths, or sometimes
hoaxes, is considered as
another of the initial forms
of communication and
sharing of ideas among a
group of people.
In society these types of channels were/are used for people to
interact and end up sharing common criteria.
5. How are they classified?
The means or channels through
which an exchange of information
takes place within the private
sphere.
For example: telephone, fax...
The media that reach a large
number of the population and
transmit information of a public
nature. In turn, they are classified
according to the medium or
support used for the transmission
of information.

seen and heard. They are based on technological
devices that emit images and sounds in order to
transmit information, such as television.

They are based exclusively on information
transmitted in sound format. In recent decades,
there has been a development of online radios and
audio content such as podcasts whose production
process is radiophonic and then distributed digitally.
Broadcast media

9. Classification of mass media
Through the Internet, information reaches a large
percentage of the world's population in a simple and
immediate way. Digital media are supported by
personal computers, cell phones, tablets and other
mobile devices, through which information is
transmitted with a speed that surpasses any other
mass media. Information reaches thousands of
people in seconds. They fulfill the function of
informing and entertaining.
Digital media
10. Elements of communication
Any communicative situation in which there is an exchange of information
between sender and receiver is a communicative act.
A sender sends a message that is received by a receiver through its
propagation in a shared channel and code.
The communicative act does not require a two-way exchange in which sender
and receiver are in the same space and time, but what is important is that one
of the agents sends a message to the other.
11. Importance of the media
Interpersonal
communication media
● Have allowed people to communicate with each other
across distances.
● Over the years and thanks to technological
development, they have brought people from different
parts of the world into contact with each other.
Mass media
● They have a wide variety of functions: to inform,
entertain, form opinions, educate...
● They transmit specific information that they want the
public to know.
● They form a general opinion at a given moment
regarding knowledge and judgments about the
surrounding reality.
12. Media of the past
Cave paintings and all
forms of artistic and oral
manifestations are
understood as the first
means or systems of
communication among the
members of a community.
Arte and speech
The development of writing
and the appearance of
papyrus gave way to
manuscripts.
Writing
The ringing of bells
functioned as a way of
making announcements
and transmitting a
message.

13. Media of the past
The trumpet was an
