Three out of five NPR listeners consider their local public radio station to be of very high value to the community. More than nine out of ten NPR listeners have taken some action, such as talking to others, doing further research, or visiting a website, after hearing a story on NPR. Almost two-thirds of listeners discuss NPR stories with friends, family, or colleagues at least once a month, with many doing so once a week or more. The survey was conducted online in July 2009 among 497 regular NPR listeners to understand the impact of NPR programming.
