The document outlines an assignment where students will create a 6-8 minute video explaining real world applications of economics. Students will be split into groups and take on roles such as the hidden economist narrator, script writer, video recorder, editor, and actors. The video will follow people through a typical day, demonstrating 4 economic concepts and how understanding them provides insights and helps people make better choices. Students will have a week to complete the assignment by selecting topics, writing a script, recording footage, and editing a final video. They will be assessed on explaining the concepts, providing insights, video quality, creativity, and including additional examples for extra credit.
"The problem is we don't understand the problem": Problem Framing as a tool t...Rupert Platz
Held April 30th at "Design to Align", DMI / Intersection15 conference for Strategic Enterprise Design, Berlin http://2015.intersectionconf.com
The purpose of design is to solve problems. Its added value is not only derived from shaping good solutions: it is equally about getting the problem right in the first place.
Often enough in practice though, gaining an accurate, shared understanding of a design problem is neglected in favour of intense involvement with potential solutions. Which can lead to situations later in the process where it turns out everyone involved has a completely different set of unspoken assumptions on the underlying issue, or you may even discover you've developing the perfect response to the wrong question.
In his talk, Rupert will outline the benefits of (re-) framing problems as a universal design technique and share practical tips for shaping precise and actionable problem statements.
Establish the foundation of your content strategy,
optimize the viability of your video content,
and explore various ways to monetize your content as an entrepreneur and as a creator.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

The Hidden Economist

“The Hidden Economist”
IN ACTION!
Essential Question(s):Where do economic concepts exist in the world? In what ways can we
explain the mysteries of society through the lens of an economist? How can we use economic
intuition to solve the problems we face?
Summative Task:The average person’s understandings of the intricacies ofeconomicsare often
lacking and inadequate. Little do they know that economics exists everywhere, and the truths of
economics constantly surround every situation.
You have been hired by NBC as an “undercover economist.” Create a 6-8 minute video that explains
at least 4 real world applications of economics in our world as you proceed through a normal day.
Your video should demonstrate to the public how understanding the intricacies of economics helps
individuals and communities in two ways--by providing answers to daily mysteries and training us to
make better choices that benefit society as a whole.
Your video must follow individuals through multiple encounters in an average day. You might take
your audience through schools, interview teachers, travel to the grocery store, travel to a restaurant,
go to the mall, etc.
Topics you might include, are (but aren’t limited to):
Specialization
Opportunity Costs
The tragedy of the commons
Perfect Information
Price Discrimination
Firm Behavior and/or the Prisoner’s Dilemma
Marginal Utility
The Law of Diminishing Returns
Process:You will have one week to complete this task during class and outside of class. Your videos
are due on Monday, May 24th. We will watch them the last days of class.
1) 5/16: Select a group of 4-5 people.
2) 5/16: Assign Roles:
a. “Hidden Economist”: Speaks in the Video to explain how the concepts are
applied and gives solutions or insights from the concepts
b. Script Writer: Writes the script for the actors in the movie
c. Video Recorder: Records and Directs the video clips
d. Video Editor: Compiles the Video and also helps stage props during recordings
e. Actors/Actresses: Memorize the scripts in the video and act as consumers,
students, etc in diff situations.
3) 5/16-5/17: Select topics your Group will focus on and where they are seen in our lives.
4) 5/17: Write the Scripts for your videos; finalize the plot of your video.
5) 5/18-5/19: Record your Video.
6) 5/20: Present 60 second “Skit” of the trailer for your segment to get more TV viewers.
2. Name__________________________date_____________________class_________________
Assessment:You will be assessed based on the following components. Groups that include more
than 4 concepts can earn up to 5 extra points on their final grade.
