Digital revolution with Cloud computingTarry Singh
Digital revolution is upon us. Cloud has become increasingly mature, social has taken over our lives by storm, whether twitter, Facebook, linkedin or just about doing anything with our personal or private lives. Mobile / smartphone is almost literally wearable tech in our pockets but more is coming. And finally with big data & analytics (structured and unstructured), we are at the brink of defining our new lives as "fully informed consumers". IoT (Internet of things) is the next big platform, a marketplace where all things will happen. Yes, all of the things!
This presentation was given in Malaysia conference 2009 and it still holds true!

Market share would appear to be a simple set of calculation of its our product for customers against our competitors offerings. But in reality it is a complex permutations and combinations of a lot of factors such as what units are being used, and where in the value chain - social, digital, non-marketing etc, do we Which units are used? Where in the value chain do we capture our information? What time frame will maximize our signal- to-noise ratio? In a metric as important as market share, and in one as closely monitored for changes and trends, the answers to such questions are crucial. This simple infographic takes a look at key components of market share, including penetration share, heavy usage index, likability, reach, impressions, brand penetration, brand awareness, top of the mind, hierarchy effects, ad awareness which can in turn help those right brained creator marketing managers to finally measure the effects of what gores in (effort - money, time, resources) as to what comes out (value - more consumers, positive ROMI, promotional spend optimization etc)

Digital disruption mobile only revolutionTarry Singh
Come 2015 and the world is increasingly becoming mobile only and this they are doing by abandoning PCs and other devices for tablets, mobiles, phablets, and the new entrants - wearables tech.
Application interfaces are being built for mobile-only experience, should you be part of the PC or desktop era you're out. Even if you are on your laptop which is not mobile ready , you might be missing out a lot.
Here we talk about technologies such as Virtualization and WiMAX. The technologies are cost-effective and provide a high QoS. Thus an ideal candidate for Organizations and SMB enterprizes.
A secure cloud computing based framework for big information management syste...Pawan Arya
—Smart grid is a technological innovation that improves efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of electricity services. It plays a crucial role in modern energy infrastructure. The main challenges of smart grids, however, are how to manage different types of front-end intelligent devices such as power assets and smart meters efficiently; and how to process a huge amount of data received from these devices. Cloud computing, a technology that provides computational resources on demands, is a good candidate to address. a secure cloud computing based framework for big data information management in smart grids, which we call “Smart-Frame.
This presentation contains basic introduction to cloud computing and Grid computing . Also mainly focusing on comparison in cloud and grid. This presentation taking some references on research papers.
Do you think how big companies like google, facebook , adobe, ...etc, are store millians of data and also how they secure all those data. Please watch to know all these actual reality.

ScottMadden has developed an approach for analyzing data center requirements and driving improvements in existing data center retrofits. Our approach takes into account the technological requirements, the physical attributes of a data center, and the requirements for a rigorous measurement and verification program needed to ensure improvements actually capture the energy efficiently gains and the resultant greenhouse gas reductions.
Our approach addresses the latest trends in data center management such as virtualization and cloud computing and provide a framework for developing metrics needed to drive changes in data center performance.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
