Analysis Of Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing, A 1987 romantic based story movie, depicted the love story between Frances
Baby Houseman, performed by Kaleigh Courts, and her dance instructor Johnny Castle,
performed by Aaron Patrick Craven. It has been well loved for generations world widely.
Eleanor Bergstein, the writer of this film responded that the plot of this film was partially based
on her childhood. Eleanor had a nickname Baby which is as same as the name of the female
protagonist in her film. Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage is a live musical performance
form of the original film. To me, what made it more engaging than the movie is that it combines
real life story and dancemovements together to express that idea that dances come from life, and
life flows like a musical performance. There are beginnings, climax and ending, ups and downs,
peace and vitality. Due to the fact that Dirty Dancing was in a narrative form, it was more of a
challenge to the dancers to not only present themselves as dancers but also to put themselves into
the characters shoes, acting out the personalities which might be completely opposite of their own.
The opening scene of the performance caught my attention immediately. It was set up in two parts.
One of which was having the protagonist, Baby, sitting in the corner in the front stage, packing up
her suitcase and preparing to go on a vacation with her family. There were three pairs of performers
dancing behind a screen which projected the shadow of their

Selling In International Marketing Essay
Some small companies never thought about going global, or in other words, becoming international
retailers. They think of selling their products in foreign countries and think of ways to do so.
Before you know it, they have become global marketers. Many companies know that by doing
business in other countries, they can broaden their potential buyers. By selling to foreign
customers, though, retailers are stumbling upon roadblocks. Selling their product in international
markets is not the same as selling in the United States. Retailers, especially small businesses with
limited resources, are realizing large capital expenditures in order to accommodate salesin foreign
markets. However, many companies are doing quite well in... Show more content on

Depending on what type of business you are in, you can find similar companies in other countries
and form a partnership. This gives the seller more recognition in the foreign country. But, it is
usually more costly due to the added expense of another office. By forming a partnership with a
company that is in the country you want to do business in, the partner possibly has a list of
contacts, already. This makes selling the product or service a lot easier. Still though, companies
wanting to expand in foreign markets must be careful in choosing their partners. If they are not
careful whom they choose as a partner, they could risk losing control of their product or service.
And, they need to pay close attention to the day to day activities of selling. Some small businesses
get too hasty because they want to expand their market and gross profit, so they make bad
judgment calls when it comes to finding a company to form their joint venture with. The third
method is by using a licensing agreement. Basically, the foreign company/business buys the rights
to the American product. They become the licensees. This would seem the simplest method, since
the licensee, it seems, would sell the product then send you a check every month or so depending
on the contract. However, you have to be careful of this strategy as well. Some licensees buy the
product and then shove it back on the shelves so it won t compete with

The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic
The Cave Allegory
Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the
allegory of the cave.
A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight
and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the
partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces
that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see.
The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people
mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and
reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more

They have never realized their mental models were controlling them.
One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and
statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking
happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance
state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is.
So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He
then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the
fire and the statues, he previously saw.
He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still
unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave.
Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state
and your default modes.
Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded.
Initially he can only look at shadows, then at

Stereotypes Of Today s Meeting
Hello, everyone,
I am emailing you because I am disappointed with the turnout of today s meeting. As president of
the club, it is my job to make sure all board members are pushing their own weight.
I understand you may not able to attend all the meetings, but you need to get into the habit of
informing another board member of your absence. It makes it difficult on myself as well as the
other board members when several of you do not show. Also, please only miss meetingsif you
absolutely have to. I understand having to attend class or work but deciding you do not want to
show up because you just do not feel like it is disrespectful and inappropriate in your position.
I also understand that we are coming up on Thanksgiving. I asked if we

One month before the day we planned to leave, they changed the destination to Universal Studios. I
was even more thrilled. On the opposing side of that, my cousin manny was jacking around with
me the day before that made me slip and fall on my phone. I was so upset because I wouldn t be
able to take pictures or communicate with my contacts. That following night I spent the night on
the couch at my Chantel and Manuel s home. I didn t go to be until eleven o clock and the plane
ride departed at five in the morning. The next thing I knew it was 3 in the morning and time for
us to leave. I packed everything the night before along with my family; we were prepared and
ready to go. We landed down around nine a.m. eastern time. The sky was so sunny and the
people lively with the palm trees moving along like they were jamming to a song. When we
obtained our entire luggage, the next stop was at the car rental services. My auntie and Uncle
went back in forth about what care to pick. The option was a family van or a ten passenger bulky
square truck that prisoner travel in for community service.
It was a long first day and we didn t get into the hotel until 8 o clock. We spend the first hours of
our time meeting Zulma, my uncle s sister, and her kids. My family stopped at Chick fil a for

Analysis Of Jack Londons For Build A Fire And His Wise...
In Jack Londons To Build A Fire, a stubborn man with no imagination and his wise dog set out on
the Yukon trail seeking out his camp in hopes to return and meet up with the boys. Being a
chechaquo, a new comer to the land (Dictionary.com, 2015), this was his first Winter. It was a
clear day and yet there seemed an intangible pall over the face of things, a subtle gloom that made
the day dark, and that was due to the absence of sun. The face did not worry the man. (London,
629). The newcomer was entering Winter temperatures in which he knew nothing of, reaching
seventy five degrees below zero and would soon be in a battle of man verses nature. But all this the
mysterious, far reaching hair line trail, the absence of sun from the sky, the tremendous cold, and
the strangeness and weirdness of it all made impression on the man. (London, 629). As the man
travels on through the freezingtemperatures he is remind of advice from and old wise man, he
had been warned of traveling alone and the dangers that could come with someone making such
decisions. The traveler was hopeful of making it back to camp by six o clock, and an hour into his
travels he is ready to stop and eat his lunch with pride in his traveling progress. However, an hour
into his travels the arrogant man was more concerned with chewing his tobacco, than thinking of
potential dangers despite his warnings, so he stopped for lunch, never sharing with his only
traveling companion, his loyal dog.

South Carolina s Total Land Area Essay
. As of 2011, South Carolina has 13,120.5 acres of forestland. This is nearly 67% of the state s total
land area. Out of all of the forestland in South Carolina, 88% is privately owned. 63% of the
privately owned forestland is family owned. The average family owned forestland is 80 acres, and
around 56% of private forestowners live on their land. 12% of South Carolina s forestland is
publicly owned, or owned and managed by forest industries. These forest industries own nearly
137,400 acres. This number is down 93% from where it was in 2001, and it is continuing to decline.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the total area of forestland in South
Carolina slightly declined between 2011 and 2014. The 2014 estimate of forestland acreage in
South Carolina was 12,974.1. This showed a decrease of about 1.12%. This seems to contradict the
stats given by the South Carolina Forestry Association in 2015, which say that South Carolina s
forests contain 25 billion cubic feet of wood, which they say is more than at any time during the
last century. The South Carolina Forestry Association also says that South Carolina s hardwood
and softwood forests are both growing more wood than is able to be harvested. The United States
Department of Agriculture shows that the number of live trees on forestland in South Carolina
actually decreased by 4.1 percent from 2011 to 2014. The number of live trees decreased from 10.1
billion in 2011 to 9.7 billion in 2014. The volume of

History and Evolution of Health Care Economics
Healthcare economics has drastically changed over the years. It makes up for one sixth of
American budget (Johnson, 2009). Health care economics has drastically changed partly due to
new advances in technology over the years. Money is the factor of health care economics.
Money drives economics and makes up health care and how far it can go. Economics will
continue to change and financial advisors who have more education on health care economic
advances will be beneficial to keep with changes in economics. Economics focuses on market.
Market is like the buyer buys a product or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One particular factor for the drastically changing health care economics is the fact that as
wealthier people became, the more willing they were to pay for goods and services. Even now,
health care is most often on people s list after they buy food for their families and essentials for
their home. With all the new advances in technology it has created a change in the supply and
demand of health care economics. People in the 1900s were not as eager to consult with getting
health care services as they are in today s time. Medical services have advanced with
medications, surgeries, exams, and patient care. Shifting the financial burden also makes
medical care more desirable to individuals. Insurance companies paying for all or most of
medical costs give people more incentive to seek treatment or get regular visits by the doctor.
The value of health care is also the change that has come to health care economics. People feel
their health is priceless and valuable. They are willing to pay to make sure they are healthy and
live a long life. Although the feeling has changed about health care and people have more money
to spend, health care has made dramatic changes in their costs as well. These changing costs
have made a change in health care economics as well. Debt in the US now is mostly credited to
health care bills that Americans rack up. People are willing to spend as much as money as possible
to pay for

Pet Ownership And Perceived Well Being
The researcher s hypothesis regarding pet ownership and perceived well being was not supported
by the data. Pet ownership was not related to perceived well being, even after controlling for the
gender of participants. The results of this study concurred with the results from Staats and
colleagues (2006) study. Both studies were unable to find a significant relationship between pet
ownership and perceived well being. However, unlike Staats and colleagues (2006) study, this study
did not obtain information on whether participants subjectively believed that pet ownership would
improve their well being. Future studies should incorporate this factor in order to understand the
effect of positive psychology.
The results of this study conflicted with the other previous researches. As indicated by Jorm and
colleagues (2002), pet ownership was associated with longer survival rates in patients who had
experienced a heart attack. Unlike coronary patients, the participants of this study did not suffer
any medical conditions, and not to the researcher s knowledge, ever experienced a heart attack.
Perhaps patients who experienced a heart attack were more attached to their pets as a form of
distraction from any lingering effects of the episode.
Further, in the study conducted by McConnell and colleagues (2011), it was revealed that pet
owners experienced greater perceived well being, and were not as vulnerable to feelings of
loneliness. McConnell and colleagues (2011) had incorporated

The Marquis De Sades Attitude Toward Women
The Marquis de Sade s Attitude Towards Women
The Marquis de Sade was an author in France in the late 1700s. His works were infamous in their
time, giving Sade a reputation as an adulterer, a debaucher, and a sodomite. One of the more
common misrepresentations concerning Sade was his attitude toward women. His attitude was
shown in his way of life and in two of his literary characters, Justine and Julliette.
The Marquis de Sade was said to be the first and only philosopher of vice because of his atheistic
and sadistic activities. He held the common woman in low regard. He believed that women
dressed provocatively because they feared men would take no notice of them if they were naked.
He cared little for forced sex. Rape is not a crime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He urges women to copulate as actively as they can, so that, quot;powered by their hitherto
untapped sexual energy they will be able to fuck their way into history, and, in doing so, change it
quot; (Carter 27).
Women see themselves in the reflection form Sade s looking glass of misanthropy. Critics say that
Sade offers male fantasies about women in great variety, along with a number of startling insights.
He is said to put pornography in the service of women (Carter 36).
The Justine series, consisting of six editions, was one of the most infamous and well known series
written by Sade. While the series had several editions, the storyline remained basically the same
throughout, though becoming more verbose in each edition.
Two characters emerge from the Justine novels: Justine and Juliette, who are sisters orphaned at an
early age. These two characters represent the opposite poles of womanhood in Sade s mind. Justine
is the innocent, naive type who gets mistreated throughout her life. Juliette is Sade s ideal woman,
being uninhibited in her sexual conduct and in her life, murdering and copulating at whim. She,
naturally, does well in life (Lynch 41 42).

Relationship Between ASL And FSL
American Sign Language is the primary language of communication amongst the Deaf community
in the United States. American Sign Language, more commonly referred to as ASL, is intriguing
to many with the ability to hear. Any form of sign language can draw attention from most
bystanders. The use of bodily language as a singular form of communication is vastly different for
those who use body language as an aid for understanding a spoken conversation. Many hearing
people use body language absent mindedly, from opening a one s stance to display dominance, to
crossing arms to display uncertainty or insecurity. However, those who use sign language purposely
adjust their body language in coherence with what they are saying. For example, in ASL, one...

Derived from French Sign Language, ASL has grammar that differs greatly from American English
or even British English. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school
for the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native
language was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened
throughout the United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong.
Undoubtedly, ASL is a singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier
can result between hearing English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author
of Significant Gestures a book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language
barrier generally between hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students
would head to school every morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that
is all their own, but when the students were sent home the would be subjected to broken
communication through signs, oral speech, lip reading, and writing. Often the written
communication of deaf children is different from hearing students. As ASL is a separate language
from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical system. Tabak eloquently summed up the
difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the relatively innovative approaches being
implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time when deaf students at Austine
School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers and teachers. Now students at
Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the Deaf community here in the
United States. Hence the importance of ASL being recognized as its own language and not a
subsection of English as many hearing people

Irony In Flannery O Connor s Good Country People
Unlike Alanis Morissette, Flannery O Connor used irony in a much subtler fashion in her work.
O Conner s unique use of literary tools is one reason she is considered one of the best short story
authors of the 20th century (Biography.com ). O Connor s use of irony is especially evident in
the short story Good Country People. Equally important is O Connor s use of clichГ©s. The
typical clichГ© lacks any substance. Ironically, clichГ©s expressed in Good Country People
depict abstract ideas. O Connor s unique combination of clichГ©s and irony forces readers discern
deeper concepts within the text. However, the readers ability to grasp these concepts hinges on
paying close attention to the character depictions of Mrs. Hopewell, Hulga Hopewell, and Manely

Hopewell s character is restricted to the use of clichГ©s such as that is life and nothing is perfect
(O Connor). Mrs. Hopewell s use of clichГ©s extends beyond dialogue. For Mrs. Hopewell,
clichГ©s represent her frame of mind. Mrs. Hopewell implies that she has an optimistic nature and
is always hoping for the best (Kirk 73). Although harmless on the surface, this perspective makes
Mrs. Hopewell blindly optimistic. Throughout the short story, Mrs. Hopewell correlates good
country people to the salt of the earth . Mrs. Freeman and her two daughters, Glynese and

DP updates the account of the investor.
Demat options
There are many hundreds of Depository Participants (DPs) offering the Demat account facility in
India as of September 2011. A comparison of the fees charged by different DPs is detailed below.
There are a few distinct advantages of having a bank as a DP. Having a Demat account with a
bank DP, usually provides quick processing, accessibility, convenience, and online transaction
capability to the investor. Generally, banks credit the Demat account with shares in case of
purchase, or credit a savings account with the proceeds of a sale, on the third day. Banks are also
advantageous because of the number of branches they have. Some banks give the option of
opening a demat account in any branch, while others restrict themselves to a select set of branches.
Some private banks also provide online access to the demat account. Hence, the investors can
conveniently check online details of their holdings, transactions and status of requests through their
bank s net banking facility. A broker who acts as a DP may not be able to provide these services.
Fees involved
There are four major charges usually levied on a demat account: account opening fee, annual
maintenance

Albert Camus The Myth Of Sisyphus
The Myth of Sisyphus The Myth of Sisyphus which was originally published in French in 1942 is
a riveting one hundred and nineteen page essay written by French philosopher Albert Camus. The
English translation by Justin O Brien followed thirteen years later in 1955. In this essay he tackles
the question; does the realization of the absurd require suicide? Throughout this essay I hope to
answer this question along with some other points made by Camus during the expanse of his essay.
Sisyphus is more well known for his punishment in the underworlds than what he did during his life.
The Myth of Sisyphus is overall pretty well known. In this myth Sisyphus, king of Ephyra was
punished for deceitfulness and exposing the secret of the gods. Sisyphus was condemned for the
rest of eternity to push a cumbersome boulder up a precipitous hill. Once he got to the top each
time to no prevail, he watched to rock roll back down the hill just to repeat this process forever.

Camus claims that there is a bitter conflict between what we want from the universe and what we
actually find in the universe. Meaning, order, and reason are widely wanted while formless chaos
is normally found. Camus believes that one either finds meaning and order in the world through
themselves or a higher being or they deem the world and life absurd and meaningless. If life is
meaningless than does that mean it is not worth living? There are generally only two options, find
meaning for your life or end it.
Camus believes there is a third option and is exploring the idea that we can accept and live in a life
devoid of meaning. He believes that facing the absurd does not entail suicide but requires living life
to its fullest. Many claim that Sisyphus is the ideal absurdity due to the fact that his punishment
represents the human condition: struggling permanently without hope for

The Feasibility Of Arming Security Guards
The feasibility of arming security guards is based on a group of college students interests, and
expectations for their college facility to alter its policies to aid in safety measures for its students.
The focus of this paper is research into gun violence in educational facilities, access to firearms in
our state, and researched conducted in Linn Benton Community College s policies on guns. We
investigated into LBCC s finances for the conditions and costs that altering the policy entail, as
well as what needs to take place before allowing armed security. Furthermore, research was
conducted into other educational facilities that already have armed guards the benefits, as well as
the downfalls. With the gathered information, we concluded that including an armed guard in our
school safety measures would only benefit the facility and the well being of its student body and
staff. Introduction A school shooting has been a common occurrence in the United States. There
were 23 college campus shootings in 2015, according to Josh SanBurn a columnist for Time
Magazine (SanBurn, Josh). Such occurrences include on October 1st, 2015, where Oregonians
were met with a hostile threat at Umpqua Community College, when 10 lives were lost due to gun

same format, which was: 5 matching questions with a word bank of 10 words, two multiple choice
questions with four options each, and three short answer questions which had two part response.
This study was important to do because students with disabilities struggle in core subjects,
especially science. This study was conducted to see if there is a research based way to effectively
help these students.
For this study, each daily science lesson in the biology class was given by the science teacher. The
special education teacher was in the classroom to support the science teacher. Every day, the general

The Various Genre Of Video Games
A gameplay is a specific process of playing and designing a video game. The term gameplay is
related to the player experiences during the interaction with game system and with other players in
that game. It defines what the player can do in the game, what is the goal of the game and how a
game can be modified. 1.1 Various Genres of gameplay The classification of gameplay is based on
gameplay interaction, game content and gameplay challenges. Video games are commonly

Walmart s Vertical Integration
When Walmart stepped out of the traditional way of the wholesalers way of business, a change
took place that changed the wholesalers industry and way of business. Vertical integration is a
business growth strategy for economics of scale. It is where one company is involved in different
parts of production; such as marketing, transporting, retailingand manufacturing. Walmart is in the
business for expansion, pushing it to the limits with production for the business and low cost for the
consumers.
The main advantage of the vertical integration is the increased control. Suppliers seem to gravitate
towards companies like Walmart and Target due to its large market shares. In doing so, Walmart

Stereochemical Dependence for dSp
Interestingly, studies from our laboratory and others have demonstrated a stereochemical
dependence for dSp processing by enzymes in ODNs. The first instance of a dSp diastereomer
difference was reported from our laboratory when Klenow Fragment (exo ) was allowed to insert
dATP opposite the isomers for which dSp1 containing ODNs were found to be the more
favorable substrate for insertion and bypass.32 This study was extended to in vivo experiments
by Neeley, et al. to include pol II and pol IV, also showing more favorable bypass kinetics for
dSp1.34 As further evidence for in vivo stereochemical dependency in dSp processing,
Henderson, et al. utilized the restriction endonuclease and postlabeling assay (REAP) to
determine the mutation profiles for dSp1 and dSp2 in Escherichia coli.28 In the sequence context
5 d(GSpA) 3 , they found a strong stereochemical dependence in the relative amounts of dG→dT
and dG→dC transversion mutations for dSp1 and dSp2. In subsequent experiments, Delaney, et
al. showed a somewhat different dependence of mutation profiles on the dSp diastereomers in the
sequence context 5 (TSpG) 3 using the REAP and competitive replication of adduct bypass
assays (CRAB).29,30 An additional observation from our laboratory quantified the digestion
kinetics of dSp isomers in the dinucleotides 5 d(Np[Sp]) 3 (N = A, T, G or C) by nuclease P1 that
showed dSp1 was the kinetically preferred substrate in all sequence combinations.33 Lastly, in

Summary Of My Papa s Waltz
The Waltz in a Ballroom of my Memory
A waltz is a beautiful dance done between two partners in 3 4ths time; a magical dance done
rhythmically around a ballroom. Cinderella and her prince did it; Belle and the Beast did it. Now
we see that Theodore Roethke and his father have done it. While the subject of My Papa s Waltzhas
spurred passionate academic debates from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery,
syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Theodore Roethke wrote My
Papa s Waltz as a reflection on the short childhood memories he had with his father. Indeed, the
theory that the author s father was abusive, is agreeable to a point, I cannot accept the overall
conclusion that the whole poem was written as a reflection on the author s abuse from his father.
The hand that held my wrist[, w]as battered on one knuckle, Roethke states in stanza 3. Though
one can see how the two lines can be taken as if the father was firmly grasping the child s wrist,
while at the same time, others see it as a father gently holding ... Show more content on

Although many can argue that this poem is entirely based on the abuse his father brought upon
Roethke, Many others believe that this poem is a reflection of his childhood memories, which
the author remembers fondly. Not only had Roethke s father died when he was a teenager, but
his uncle, to which he was very close to, committed suicide. Considering he was surrounded by a
dense cloud of death, It is obvious that the poem is about fond memories Roethke remembers
about his father many years ago. Roethke didn t have the best relationship with his father, there
were some ups and downs, to which we can all relate to. However, he loved his father more than
anything, which is just as lovely of a thought as a waltz is a

My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone
My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many
Christian hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work
in 2000 and completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s
grandeur, strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs.
In Christ alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its
personal impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000,
songwriter Keith Getty(Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in
England. The two soon became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their
work includes How Deep the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their
most famous hymn by far is In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express
the theme of the life, death and resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once
released, In Christ Alone did just that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian
music purists as well as fans of more contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary
Christian group, The Newsboys, released a version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The
Worship Album that topped the Christian Music charts in the United States. Christian groups

The Controversy Of The 18th Amendment In The United States
Latter Amendments Essay: Amendment 18 Imagine having something dear to you, that you and
your elders have had for centuries, taken away by the government. That is what the 18th
Amendment is and that special thing is Alcohol. The 18th amendment was ratified on January 16th
1919, but it wouldn t go into effect until January 20th 1920. Ever since Colonists came to America,
alcohol has played a major role in the lifestyle of Americans. The 18th Amendment was repealed by
the 21st amendment, or its affect was no more. This took place in 1933. The 18th Amendment was

The Crusades Essay
In 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban II began a striking expedition to Jerusalem in
order to release the city from Muslim control. His moving campaign and the promise of an immense
reward was inspirational to the many willing participants. One must essentially understand that the
leaders of these crusadesconnected almost every accomplishment to the works of God, and felt a
huge moral obligation to take back what once belonged to Him. The extent of the crusades shows
the deep devotion that most of Western Europehad towards Christianity and the desire to rid the
world of unnecessary evils.
During the Middle Ages, heresy was one of the prime issues that affected the solidarity of the
Church. In order to maintain the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The general consensus of the Western European societies classified their enemies as anyone who
differed even slightly from the Catholic beliefs. Their society appears to be a very strict and
conformal atmosphere in which autonomy did not play much of a role. As such, in regards to the
sentencing of the Count of Toulouse the writings on the crusades contain much information that
points to the choice of conversion or condemnation. Eternal damnation was believed to be the
result of a person who did not show repentance or debarred heresy, and shows no devotion to the
cause of reconciliation.
Even though the principal language used throughout the crusades was Latin, the context of it was
used in a multitude of ways. The broad applicability of Latin was used because it was the official
language of the Roman church. The Church was the main source of education and therefore created
a web of writings, textbooks, and biblical translations which allowed much of Europe and Asia
Minor to understand the message of Western Christianity. The direct meaning of the word crusade
was taking the cross though this period was not named as such until later in the sixteenth century.
The soldiers of the Crusades apperceived that the idea of taking one s cross meant to follow Christ,
which allowed for such substantial influence

The Public School Education System Is Failing Our Youth

The Public School Education System is failing our Youth While in high school, many students
complained about standardized testing and how ridiculous it was our education standards were on
the line for it. How we never learned anything long enough to remember it. Students are supposed
to enjoy learning. Instead students dread their mornings and hours spent in a classroom. Pass the
OGT or the new PARCC testing in order to graduate. Being taught at an impossible pace that many
cannot remember the information for the next year but instead just remember for the moment.
There are teachers who are sitting fancy, but don t even do their job to the core standards.
Looking at a few others who notice these flaws, a source from Sandra Stotsky s article says:
To begin with, education schools supply far too many teachers with an inadequate background in the
subjects they are licensed to teach. As one school administrator discovered when she examined
her teacher s college transcripts while preparing a proposal for a Teaching American History
grant, fully one third of our middle school social studies teachers had zero hours in college history
courses. Another 53 percent had fewer than ten hours of any college history. (Stotsky 44). Many
teachers cannot answer your questions simple or not. They don t have extensive knowledge to
hold onto because of lack of passion or having such a repetitive way of teaching

Theme Of Twelfth Sin The Jewel Box In Anger
In the story Du Tenth Sinks the Jewel Box in Anger, Du Tenth shows complete devotion to Master
Li Jia and by the end of the story, we see that the devotion she has for him is not reciprocated. One
s feelings may be stronger than the others, but couples choose to stay together. In some instances,
individuals may choose to stayin the relationship for convenience, rather than feelings. Regarding
Du Tenths situation, I feel that she continued her relationship for both reasons. Tenths feelings for
Master Li were very strong but in addition, it was more convenient for her to pursue a life with Li
Jia, than continue the life she was living. This trend is not only seen is stories, but it has also
become the reality of today s society.
For obvious reasons, Du Tenth pursued a relationship with Maser Li but the question is why did
she decide to stay with him after he lost all of his wealth? If we look at all the factors, Du Tenth
had lots to gain by officially being with Li Jia. Without Li Jia, she was just a courtesan. Master Li
s parents did not approve of their relationship due to this. The first thing that Du Tenth would gain
is a better name for herself. Tenth would be with a man that had a good name, which could... Show

The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect...
2. Background Information
This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on court
performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle
memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral
nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables
measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the
movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement;
and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous
studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and
Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in
performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of
Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time
and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the
ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill,
then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is
important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of
offensive and defensive skills. Most notably,

Figure 1. Results recorded from experiment. After every 15 seconds for four minutes, the
absorbance was recorded.
Based on these results recorded in Figure 1, it appears that Tube 2, which contained the 10% salt
concentration, would be one of the optimal concentrations due to its high absorbance similar to
Tube 3 and Tube 4 and it having a rate of the reaction was significantly faster than the other tubes.
However, taking a deeper look into understanding the information, we can attribute human error to
Tube 2. The reason it is believed that Tube 2 contained human error was because the initial
recording started with a very high absorbance reading and did not have a large change in
absorbance.
To determine the optimal concentration, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After reviewing the data, it can be concluded that our hypothesis was, indeed, true. Though it is
difficult to confirm whether the cuvettes that contained the highest concentration (15% and 10%)
denatured, our team agreed that the higher concentration was less effective due to lower change in
absorbance.
Problems Encountered There were a couple of problems that our group encountered while
conducting this experiment. Since this was our first experiment dealing with enzyme activity, the
probability of human error increased. We found it difficult to go through the procedures with
undefined roles for our team. The other problem that our team encountered was the getting the
cuvettes into the spectrophotometer quickly once the enzyme was introduced to the cuvette.
Solutions to Problems The solutions to our problems are simple. As more experiments are
conducted with similar procedures, human error will decrease. As well as, defining the role of each
member of the team, such as designating one member to create all of the stock solutions, while
another prepares the enzymes and so on. Creating the final solution near the spectrophotometer
would solve the problem of transferring the cuvette faster. The quicker the cuvette is placed, the
quicker you can get accurate absorbance

The Art Of The Human Body In Art
For centuries, artists treated the human body with reverence. The Greeks idealized the human body
in sculpture. Michelangelo idealized the human body in painting, as did the Neoclassical and
Romantic artists. While the Realists may have been the first to resist idealization of their subject
material, it wasn t until the Expressionists in the late 19th century that artists began to deliberately
distort the human body for a psychoanalytical purpose. Painters such as Gustav Klimt and Egon
Schiele developed new painting styles to explore a greater truth not accessible through mere
representation. For example, Klimt further developed Gustave Moreau s Symbolist style,
frequently recalling Greek and Roman myths in his works, such as the Furies in Jurisprudence.
Schiele used distortion of the outer body to express a tormented inner state, such as in Seated Male
Nude (self portrait).
Oskar Kokoschka s self portrait cover design for Der Sturm magazine continues the development of
Expressionism in two key ways. First, the figure s resemblance to Jesus Christ exhibits a
continuation of resorting to symbolic structures to convey a greater theme. Second, Kokoschka s
decision to paint himself reflects a trend of Expressionist artists at the time focusing on themselves
as subjects for art. Both of these techniques combine to express Kokoschka s self identification as
an Expressionist martyr.
The Expressionists were heavily influenced by the Symbolist s emphasis on non representative art to

The Aggression Scale Movie
Aggression scale is a film about trauma. Specifically, coping with trauma by using anger. An
unjust event shattered Owen and Lauren s lives. Mobsters are coming to reclaim money stolen by
their father and kill the family for the father s sins. When the mobsters arrive Lauren in the shower
and Owen is already scheming a plan of attack. What the mobsters do not know is that Owen has a
diagnosed behavioral problem. Aggression.
The trauma we act out is guided our place in ideological systems. Gender interprets our trauma in
terms of weakness and power. Masculinity teaches trains boys that manliness is defined by
toleration of pain. A boy proves manhood by taking more pain then the next guy. But if a boy
flinch s or is swayed by tragedy his very genitalia is called into question. A girl, on the other hand,

What does set him apart from traditional slashers is his enjoyment of violence. While the film
justifies Owen s violence as vengeance against home invaders and attacks by bullies this does not
tell the whole story.
Lauren, Owen s stepsister, on the other hand, reacts to trauma differently. The only clue we are
given about her history is the scars on her wrists. Some unknown event has rattled its way into her
brain. In all likelihood, she was the victim of someone s whims or dealt a bad hand of genetics.
Whatever is the cause of Laurens tragedy, she directs her aggression inwards. Internalizing the
aggressor and re victimizing herself.
The scene about midway through the film where Lauren respectively stabs one of the mobsters is
telling. Unlike Owen who is calm and numbly collected when he traps and hunts the mobsters,
Lauren screams while she repetitively stabs the mobster. From her depths, something larger than the
violence is bellowing. The opposite of relief. Lauren is crossing a line from victim to something

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Echo By Christina Rossetti
Christina Rossetti s Echo
1Come to me in the silence of the night;
2Come in the speaking silence of a dream;

The most notable is dream, the rhyming word in 2. Rossetti repeats the word in 7 and uses the
plural in 13 and 15. In 7 the rhyming word sweet is the third use of the word, a climax of how
sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet. Concluding the poem, Rossetti repeats breath (16), low (17),
and the phrase long ago (18). This special use of repetition justifies the title Echo, and it also
stresses the major idea that it is only in one s memory that past experience has reality, even if
dreams are no more than echoes. Thus rhyme is not just ornamental in Echo, but integral. The skill
of Rossetti here is the same as in her half serious, half mocking poem Eve, even though the two
poems are totally different. In Eve, she uses very plain rhyming words together with comically
intended double rhymes. In Echo, her subject might be called fanciful and maybe even morbid, but
the easiness of the rhyming words, like the diction of the poem generally, keeps the focus on regret
and yearning rather than self indulgence. As in all rhyming poems, Rossetti s rhymes emphasize
the conclusions of her lines. The rhymes go beyond this effect, however, because of the internal
repetition echoes of the rhyming words, Echo is a poem in which rhyme is inseparable from

Transformation In A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843,
the novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story
seems to come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a
miserable old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if
he doesn t make drastic changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder
more pleasant man. A Christmas Carolis a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children
Ignorance and Want, Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce
significant themes like social isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme
of rebirth through Scrooges transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a
kinder nicer man, each stave represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two
men come into Scrooge s shop and ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives
them no money and asks why these people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7).
He feels by paying his taxes he has done enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they
rather die...they had better do it and decrease the surplus population (Dickens 7). But in stave 3,
Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim, a young innocent boy, will pass away in the future. Scrooge begs the

Issues Among Today s Latent Fingerprint Detection Techniques
Issues Among Today s Latent Fingerprint Detection Techniques
Zachary Fisher
Even with the advanced state of forensic sciences some surfaces and circumstances prove difficult
to successfully lift, or even detect, fingerprints from. There are now several methods of enhancing
latent fingerprints for collection. These methods use chemicals, light sources and other techniques
to enhance latent ridge marks on materials that prove difficult to successfully identify and lift prints
from. These surfaces include certain types of metals, porous surfaces, and certain kinds of paper.
We will discuss three types of latent finger print enhancement that are relatively new or still in the

Lastly, reliable print lifting and identifying are necessary because fingerprints are often the only
way to tie a perpetrator to the crime itself.
Electrochromism is a relatively newly discovered method that allows for the capturing of a
negative image of a fingerprint on a metal surface. The material poly(3,4 ethylenedioxythiophene)
is applied to the area that is being searched, once applied a charge is applied to the material that
causes a shift in color that allows for the print to be identified with great detail. (Brodie)
Curcumin, yellow 3, can be used to develop latent prints that are otherwise difficult to lift useful
prints from using other traditional methods, particularly metal and hard plastics. Currently basic
violet 3 and solvent black 3 are used but pose issues as solvent black 3 is a carcinogen and must
be used in laboratory conditions and basic violet can be difficult to see on many surfaces. Yellow
3 naturally occurs in the popular Indian spice turmeric and is commonly used as a natural food
coloring. When used as a reagent in fingerprint collection it targets the non water soluble material
with the fingerprint residue, and can be used on dark surfaces in place of solvent black 3 due to its
naturally bright color. Due to the fact that it targets the non water soluble material it can even be

An Efficient Way Transmit Codes
Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after
World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for
codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were
easy to train, and a abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code

kid and into his teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all
the time that Johnston spent of the reservation he became familiar with the people and their

In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy
the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this
was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their land,
families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years (Robert A. Roessel, 1). In
this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who were in position of

Copyright Laws And Its Impact On Intellectual Property...
Introduction Copyright laws were established to provide authors with rights over their creations
and to prevent unauthorized use and distribution of these creations by others. Although the law
grants ownership to one party, usually the author of the work, there is a doctrine for granting
ownership of work made for hire to educational institutions (Crews, 2006). This doctrine supports
that if the employee developed the work under the parameters of their scope of employment or
through the use of resources provided by the employer, then the employer owns the rights to the
work (Crews, 2006). In an effort to clarify the mandates of copyrightlaw and improve understanding
of intellectual propertyownership, educational institutions have developed their own policies
addressing intellectual propertyownership. The policies vary by institution, but share the same
purpose of providing guidelines and conditions for ownership of creations by the educational

Explain How To Teach Children To Swim
To teach children to swim, you will need a pool and patience. Lessons are taught by lifeguards,
as well as by individuals in the community. Swimming is a helpful skill to learn for people as it is
great exercise and fun to do. This can be a frustrating job but is worth the trouble. The first thing
to teach children is to put their face in water and blow out of their nose. This is vital to teach
early on in order for them to grasp the concept that they will not get water in their nose. They
really have to figure that out for themselves, but you must in order to guide them in the right
direction. Still during day one, you should have the child sit on the side of the pool and learn how
to effectively kick. This is done by pointing the toes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These skills can be life saving in some circumstances. To teach the child how to float on their
back, you should use a noodle under either the back or under the arms to start. The child will be
scared at first, so they must be convinced that nothing bad will happen when they lay their head
back. You should help the by getting their body in the right place by getting them to move their
legs as if they were slowly riding a bicycle. After they are comfortable, remove the noodle
carefully. It will take a few tries for this to be successful as the child is alarmed by their support
being removed. Once learned, floating on the back is a relaxing a life saving skill to obtain.
Treading is a more tiring activity but is important nonetheless. To teach this, you should be in an
area of the water that the child can touch but is not halfway out of the water. You should explain
to the individual that they should move their legs like they are riding a bike in the water. The
arms should move around in circles to help. This should be a relatively easy thing to learn once
the child can swim fairly well and the child is comfortable in deeper

The Theory Of Nursing Theory
Roy s Adaptation Model Aisha Noah Chamberlain College of Nursing. NR 501 Theoretical Basis
Adv. Nursing. Introduction Nursing theory is a belief, policy, procedure proposed or followed as
the basis of the action. It is used as the basis to organize framework of concepts and purposes
designed to guide the practice of nursing. Nursing theory started in the 1800 when emphasis was on
nursing education. Most of the nursing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nursing theories have also made their influence on patient care and outcome. The theory I have
chosen to treat in this paper is Roy s adaptation Model. The Roy s model is about adaptation. It has
four key concepts, the person, health, environment and nursing. The Roy s adaptation model states
a person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The
adaptation has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process
involving four cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning,
judgment, and emotion. And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive
process that responds automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels.
ANALYSIS OF NURSING THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing
education, it has helped create a focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional,
managers and patients make unique contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J.
(2012) Believing that the trends of focusing on specifics in theoretical works, close linkage to
research, and integration to practice are positive in the sense that the close linkage to research could
provide solid grounds for theoretical development in nursing and that the specifics could facilitate
and strengthen the linkages between

The Movement Of Canada And The Quebec Separatist Movement
Countries fight themselves am I right? American fought themselves twice in the mid 1800s and
1900s. During the mid 1900s, Canada did their movement also it was called the Quebec Separatist
Movement. The movement was about Quebec s independence. The movement contained the Prime
Minister and this group called Front de Liberation du Quebec. They had kidnapped most influential
people in Canada. In the Quebec Separatist Movement, Quebec s citizens ambition to become
independent, the whole country became violent.
The historical context of the Quebec Separatist movement includes The Quiet Revolution. The
Quiet Revolution was a long built up of many groups that mostly contained with Francophones,
French speaking citizens, who wants independence from Canada. First, Canada made a bill
stating that it will create a better future for Canada. The Official Language Bill is a reflection of
the nature of this country as a whole and of a conscious choice we are making about our future.
Canada wants to be a whole and having one language will make them feel like a whole. After this
bill, Canada s government did believed that there should be two official language, yet the citizens
of Canada was still deciding if they wanted that to become a law. We believe in two official
languages and in a pluralist society not merely as a political necessity but as an enrichment. This
started to upset Francophones because the government was still deciding if they wanted French to

Judith Plaskow Research Paper
Judith Plaskow Judith Plaskow began her study of feminism while pursuing a Phd at Yale and
continued on to cofound B not Esh, a Jewish feminist spirituality collective, as well as author
many theological books (Braude, 2004, pg 219). She grew up in a Reform Judaism household
and as a child focused on ethical monotheism , which lead to her study of the Holocaust and the
development of a self image of victimhood (2004, pg 220). It was Naomi Weisstein, a psychologist,
who spoke to Plaskow women s group at Yale that really spurred her to reconsider her own
ambitions in life (2004, pg 221). In her discovery of feminism, Plaskow felt that she was able to
move past her self identity as a victim and began to examine how her womanhood and Jewishness
could contribute to the world (2004, pg 222). She began to connect feminism with religion along
with her college friend Carol P. Christ and even asked Rosemary Radford Ruether to... Show more

Christ is the main leader of the Goddess Movement, although she grew up in a rather
conservative Christian family (Braude, 2004, pg 97 98). Upon entering Yale, her political
views were opposite those of her childhood, however she was still treated more as a female body
than a female person (2004, pg 99). Eventually, she was able to make life giving connections
between herself and other women at Yale, such as Plaskow (2004, pg 100). Christ tried to find a
religion that could nourish her soul, just as her friendships did, however, it was difficult to do
so due to the deep embedded sexism in many religions (2004, pg 102). It was Starhawk, a now
famous neo pagan, who first introduced Christ to the idea of a Goddess, rather than the male
images of God she was accustomed to (2004, pg 102). This Goddess allowed women to have an
affirmation of their power, body and will (2004, pg 103). Though she has found great success in
her life as an author, Christ had struggled to find employment as a professor due to her not being

Defending Paid Parental Leave
In the spirit of debate I speak to the following representatives/senators of the concept bill C
addresses. Should parents be forced to suffer financially and mentally because they gave birth to a
baby? They should not and I am in affirmation of this bill because it protects families from financial
stress and has health benefits to the mothers and their children.
Paid maternity leave protects families from financial stress and bombardment. Per the Washington
Post in the article Defending Paid Parental leave on September 2, 2009, One of the side effects of
the bad economy is that good ideas that sound expensive begin getting ignored. Take paid
parental leave. Making sure that parents can afford to take time off to have a baby is a good idea
on a number of fronts. It protects families from the choice of financial calamity or time with a
newborn. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does us make us in the minority of something but it is also illogical. Paid maternity
leave offers a chance for mothers of newborns to take care of their children yet still stay
financially stable. This is especially important when a husband is not available as financial
support. 80.6% of mothers are currently single. If women are having children and their partner
absconds then that leaves many women vulnerable to the ghastly teeth of the economy. The cost
of baby for one year is about $36,750 if the mother must find someone to care for the baby. This is
due to her job she must keep up to provide income. On the other hand, if the mother can stay home
with the baby then it only costs about $4,194. This immensely lessens the amount. Therefore, this
could all be avoided if paid maternity leave was provided. Mothers wouldn t have to worry about
where the money comes

Classroom Reflection
At Rolling Green, many areas are used for gym classes now. The temperature recently just rose
to the mid 60s. Before the temperature rose, students would participate outside on the schools
tennis court, around the baseball diamond, and sometimes the old soccer field. Now, students are
participating in the small gym towards the middle of the school building. This helps make it
easier for students who didn t dress for the cold weather stay warm. As well as not fully
protecting students, but avoiding possibility for children to get sick due to extreme climate
change. In this reflection, I will give a brief description of the physical arrangements in the
physical education classroom inside. I will then give a description of routines and procedures.
Next, I will talk about one of the instructors grouping strategies and activities that stuck out to me
the most. Finally, I will speak about one change I would make, and why I would make that change.
To begin with, the inside physical education classroom is extremely small. Normally there will be
two classes in the room at one time, which leads to the instructors dividing the room up with the
middle door. When the gym is divided, the left side just has a stage and volleyball nets taking up a
small percentage of space. On the other side of the divided room, there are chairs, volleyball polls,
and tumbling mats cluttering the rooms space. Normally the Instructor will try to move extra items
out of the way as much as possible. If students have to run, then the items are moved to the four
furthest corners of that side of the room. Other times the extra items will be placed in the instructors
personal office, or even the equipment storage room. On both sides of the gym, there are posters all
over the walls to motivate the students to be healthy, happy and enjoy life t the fullest. There are
also some pictures of students with their instructors, and more photos of students in uniforms for
certain sports.
A daily routine for all of my instructors students, would be to come in the classroom and stand in
order by their last name. The instructor has already made groups for the students, there are
normally 4, but no more than 5 students to each row. After the students get into

My First Day At High School
Lucas Millen
Professor Kara Roche
English 101
23 October, 2015 Two and a half years
Dark, alone, and scared. This is what I felt my first day in high school. I went from a catholic
middle school knowing everyone and their family to a public high school knowing no one. A
once popular kid was now an awkward boy wondering around like a lost lamb in a huge school
with not one friend. I went on for two in a half years like this before I realized I needed to
change, break from my shell, and make friends. Who would of thought that decision would be
life changing for me. Deciding to be who I truly am opened doors and created lifelong friends. It
s 6am on the first day of school. I dreadfully dragged myself out of bed to check the weather
before I got dressed. As my eyes adjust to the painfully bright sun gleaming through my windows,
it hits me that I m about to go to a public high school where I can dress how id like, very different
from my catholic school uniform days. I had no idea how kids my aged dressed, what was in
fashion, or how to not look like a fool. I just threw an outfit together out of my limited supply of
clothes that I had which was ocean blue jeans with light streaks in them, a plain hangs grey shirt,
and my DC multicolored shoes. After packing my bag and eating a breakfast, coco puffs and
toast, my mom drove me to school. I started to see the bright yellow school buses loaded with kids
talking to each other and having fun, I could tell by their rosy

Inner-City Community Analysis
The Baltimore city community, where I serve, is predominantly a residential neighborhood in
Baltimore, MD. Over the course of the last few years, Baltimore has earned the title of having one
of the highest homicide rates in the nation. Despite the vortex of crime and violence, there are
many contributing factors that continue to feed the murder epidemic. These factors include drugs,
educational limitations, sustainable employment, increase gap affiliation and environmental
inequities.
The is the constant reality of many inner city residents who have been cast away and left out. The
have been considered as worthless and beyond help, often labeled as troublemakers, thugs and
those people . We see the increase in crime and violence in these inner city communities and
automatically jump to places of judgement and condemnation, yet we never take the time to
evaluate the contributing factors to why they do what they do: lack of education, generational
strongholds, cultural cycles, poverty, lack of health care and so much more. Many of them feel
like they are in a fight for survival where it is kill or be killed, in a place where power and
authority is connected to fear and violence. Even these individuals need the love, mercy and
compassion as God has commanded. The only way to bring about change, there must be a change

The National Science Foundation ( Nsf )
The National Science Foundation (NSF) leads a $280 million initiative enabling researchers to
recreate the most destructive natural forces on Earth by shaking and rocking full sized structures.
[1] In one experiment, Professor Tara Hutchinson tests steel beam resilience on the apparatus, on
San Diego s outer limits. The earthquakemachine utilizes strain gauges and accelerometers
numbering in the hundreds to record the many forces that artificially induced seismic activity
places on the structure.
New building codes and retrofitting practices have emerged due to the successes achieved at the
NSF research site. As a result, $65 million will go toward similar research equipment facilities over
the next five years.
As for Hutchinson s experiment, she discovered structural weaknesses during pretest trials that
exerted little force on the test subject. The implication was that small earthquakes might weaken
buildings before large events occur without leaving external clues.
Learning From the Past
Researchers, such as Professor Hutchinson, establish new safety standards and construction
practices using empirical evidence. [2] Early natural hazard mitigation projects included massive,
expensive and untested hazard deterrents, such as levees and floodgates. After a natural disaster in
the 1960 s, engineers discovered that the structures damaged the natural, protective landscape and
offered insufficient hazard protection. Resultantly, engineers develop mitigation plans

Analysis Of Much Ado About Nothing
Adapting a William Shakespeare play can prove to be a challenge, as so many have done so,
making it difficult to stand apart. Accordingly, Plymouth State University added a modern twist to
the play Much Ado About Nothing, and, despite certain missteps, I considered it successful.
Furthermore, director Jessie Chapman not only changed the time period to a post World War I
setting, but included modern music as well. Accordingly, the costumes were changed to fit the era,
including the soldiers uniforms. Despite consisting of one location, the set design was convincing,
and the actors used it efficiently. Speaking of which, the majority of the cast lived up to the
characters they portrayed, with several standouts. The lighting design had its own intricacies, with
the color of the background light changing based on the time of day or when certain characters
appear. The sound only played a role when the background music played, of which I question the
choices for music. Although the playplodded during certain scenes, other scenes, like that of
Benedick and Beatrice eavesdropping on conversations, never ceased to entertain. Ultimately, the
play served as a worthy adaptation of Shakespeare s classic story.
In Much Ado About Nothing, Don Pedro and his company returns from the First World War as a
guest of Leanata, the governor of Messina, Italy. The don s army emerged victorious over his
traitorous half brother Don John, who accompanies Pedro and his men. Upon their

Religion In Colonial Philadelphia
Based on the physical evidence found on the tour of Philadelphia, we can draw that colonial
Philadelphians valued religion greatly, they had advanced architecture and infrastructure, and they
carried out very modest attitudes. Some of the most historical figures came from and benefitted the
city of Philadelphia including Benjamin Franklin and Andrew Hamilton. In Philadelphia during the
eighteenth century, faith was the top priority for most of the city s population. There were many
Quakers inhabiting Philadelphia at the time. The first legal Catholic Church was established in the
colonial city in 1773. The first stop on the tour and a very important colonial landmark was the
Christ Church in Philadelphia. The Christ Church was the tallest building in British North
America in 1776. Some of the most important historical figures were memorialized at the church
such as Andrew Hamilton, who was responsible for establishing freedom of the press in America.
At that time, practicing Catholicism was frowned upon and people were killed for doing so.
Another landmark visited on the tour was Old Saint Joseph s Church. Old Saint Joseph s Church
was the only place in Philadelphia where it was legal to practice the Catholic religionin the
eighteenth century.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also became one of the centers of black conversion. Philadelphia was one of the biggest free
black communities of the colonies and it became an early center where African Americans could

by a slave named Richard Allen and has a long history of civil rights issues. It was one of the first

In the current administration the government and especially congress are viewed as dysfunctional.
Congress is the legislative , or lawmaking branch of the federal government. It s bicameral
legislature of representatives and the senate. Congress is made up of the legislative, judicial, and
executive branches. As argued by Ezra Klein, congress is dysfunctional due to democrats and
republicans denying each other accomplishments and it affecting the minority. However , Lee H.

My stance is that congress is dysfunctional because, congress bureaucracy is complicated. Ezra

Switch from Windows to Linux
Introduction
The switch from Windows to Linux is something that many organizations contemplate doing but
many tread this route with much care. In recent years management has been concerned with the
rising cost of doing business; the security of their patents and customer information were their
major concerns. While most agree that these issues deserve attention, consensus dissolves on how
to solve the concern. This proposal is to elaborate to the process to switch from Windows to Linux.

Plan for Migration from Windows to Linux
The transition from Windows to Linux can be long and take months to achieve, the moving of
data setting the installations of the servers and clients is time consuming and need professionals
to handle it, however the transition is more than worth it. A good transition to take place would
require extensive planning of resources, time and expertise. The best approach to deal with
migrate from Windows to Linux is gradual, one department after another. The service of servers
is the most critical phase to start with. A typical office uses shared resources to maximize on the
resource hence it is critical to start with the services that are shared the most and change those
first. Printing, Storage and application servers are some of the critical areas that any organization
s IT want to see go as smooth as possible. Linux can be configured from installation to be a server
or just a regular desktop client. Once the servers have been installed in place then the clients that
are going to be pulling the resources from it can be installed and integrated gradually to avoid
disruption of services to the workers.

Changes And Continuities And Changes In Russia From 1480
Russian princes, having gained back their territory from the Mongols, consolidated their power and
restored the Russian state in 1462 under Ivan the Great. The underlying cultural aspects that existed
in Russia from 1480 1800 like the Eastern Orthodox Church and the westernization of the boyars
certainly helped Russiaadvance as a world power. The political constants in Russia, such as the
serf and boyar control as well as expansion, also helped Russia to approach countries in the West in
terms of influence. In 1480, Ivan the Great successfully liberated Moscow and land stretching from
Poland and Lithuania to the Ural Mountains. Culturally, Russia was at a deficit and some Russians

Peter the Great ruled 1689 and 1725 continuing many cultural aspects of Russia, but making
changes and further advancing the state. Peter traveled to Western Europe incognito to
westernize Russia further and brought back hundreds of artisans from Europe and educated
himself in Western science and technology. An example of a change in culture to westernize by
Peter was the abolition of the whip giving practice. In upper class marriages it was customary for
the father of the bride to give the groom a whip, symbolizing the control of men over women.
This change in Russian illustrates how drastic a change was necessary for Russia to westernize
and it is likely many people were not accepting of this change as it had been engrained in Russian
culture for hundreds of years. Another cultural change was the requirement that all boyars cut of
their beards, pigtails, and long sleeves that were Mongol style and had been adopted by the
boyars. This conformity emphasizes the need for Russia to change by westernization in order to
gain the respect of the West. The bureaucracy was provided a higher level of

  • 2. Analysis Of Dirty Dancing Dirty Dancing, A 1987 romantic based story movie, depicted the love story between Frances Baby Houseman, performed by Kaleigh Courts, and her dance instructor Johnny Castle, performed by Aaron Patrick Craven. It has been well loved for generations world widely. Eleanor Bergstein, the writer of this film responded that the plot of this film was partially based on her childhood. Eleanor had a nickname Baby which is as same as the name of the female protagonist in her film. Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage is a live musical performance form of the original film. To me, what made it more engaging than the movie is that it combines real life story and dancemovements together to express that idea that dances come from life, and life flows like a musical performance. There are beginnings, climax and ending, ups and downs, peace and vitality. Due to the fact that Dirty Dancing was in a narrative form, it was more of a challenge to the dancers to not only present themselves as dancers but also to put themselves into the characters shoes, acting out the personalities which might be completely opposite of their own. The opening scene of the performance caught my attention immediately. It was set up in two parts. One of which was having the protagonist, Baby, sitting in the corner in the front stage, packing up her suitcase and preparing to go on a vacation with her family. There were three pairs of performers dancing behind a screen which projected the shadow of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Selling In International Marketing Essay Some small companies never thought about going global, or in other words, becoming international retailers. They think of selling their products in foreign countries and think of ways to do so. Before you know it, they have become global marketers. Many companies know that by doing business in other countries, they can broaden their potential buyers. By selling to foreign customers, though, retailers are stumbling upon roadblocks. Selling their product in international markets is not the same as selling in the United States. Retailers, especially small businesses with limited resources, are realizing large capital expenditures in order to accommodate salesin foreign markets. However, many companies are doing quite well in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on what type of business you are in, you can find similar companies in other countries and form a partnership. This gives the seller more recognition in the foreign country. But, it is usually more costly due to the added expense of another office. By forming a partnership with a company that is in the country you want to do business in, the partner possibly has a list of contacts, already. This makes selling the product or service a lot easier. Still though, companies wanting to expand in foreign markets must be careful in choosing their partners. If they are not careful whom they choose as a partner, they could risk losing control of their product or service. And, they need to pay close attention to the day to day activities of selling. Some small businesses get too hasty because they want to expand their market and gross profit, so they make bad judgment calls when it comes to finding a company to form their joint venture with. The third method is by using a licensing agreement. Basically, the foreign company/business buys the rights to the American product. They become the licensees. This would seem the simplest method, since the licensee, it seems, would sell the product then send you a check every month or so depending on the contract. However, you have to be careful of this strategy as well. Some licensees buy the product and then shove it back on the shelves so it won t compete with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic The Cave Allegory Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the allegory of the cave. A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see. The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have never realized their mental models were controlling them. One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is. So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the fire and the statues, he previously saw. He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave. Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state and your default modes. Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded. Initially he can only look at shadows, then at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I understand you may not able to attend all the meetings, but you need to get into the habit of informing another board member of your absence. I m sure many of my peers and those a little older than me can put down a long list of vacations they have went on through out there life. They could say how they traveled the world and took beautiful pictures that would make a lion shed a tear if they stared at it long enough. Unfortunately that hasn t been me, but I have been blessed enough to be able to travel to Boston, Massachusetts and Orlando, Florida. I ve been to other locations before in my life but I would put the mark down on these areas where I actually enjoyed myself. One month before the day we planned to leave, they changed the destination to Universal Studios. I was even more thrilled. On the opposing side of that, my cousin manny was jacking around with me the day before that made me slip and fall on my phone. I was so upset because I wouldn t be able to take pictures or communicate with my contacts. That following night I spent the night on the couch at my Chantel and Manuel s home. I didn t go to be until eleven o clock and the plane ride departed at five in the morning. The next thing I knew it was 3 in the morning and time for us to leave. I packed everything the night before along with my family; we were prepared and ready to go. We landed down around nine a.m. eastern time. The sky was so sunny and the people lively with the palm trees moving along like they were jamming to a song. When we obtained our entire luggage, the next stop was at the car rental services. My auntie and Uncle went back in forth about what care to pick. The option was a family van or a ten passenger bulky square truck that prisoner travel in for community service. • 7. Analysis Of Jack Londons For Build A Fire And His Wise... In Jack Londons To Build A Fire, a stubborn man with no imagination and his wise dog set out on the Yukon trail seeking out his camp in hopes to return and meet up with the boys. Being a chechaquo, a new comer to the land (Dictionary.com, 2015), this was his first Winter. It was a clear day and yet there seemed an intangible pall over the face of things, a subtle gloom that made the day dark, and that was due to the absence of sun. The face did not worry the man. (London, 629). The newcomer was entering Winter temperatures in which he knew nothing of, reaching seventy five degrees below zero and would soon be in a battle of man verses nature. But all this the mysterious, far reaching hair line trail, the absence of sun from the sky, the tremendous cold, and the strangeness and weirdness of it all made impression on the man. (London, 629). As the man travels on through the freezingtemperatures he is remind of advice from and old wise man, he had been warned of traveling alone and the dangers that could come with someone making such decisions. The traveler was hopeful of making it back to camp by six o clock, and an hour into his travels he is ready to stop and eat his lunch with pride in his traveling progress. However, an hour into his travels the arrogant man was more concerned with chewing his tobacco, than thinking of potential dangers despite his warnings, so he stopped for lunch, never sharing with his only traveling companion, his loyal dog. ... • 8. South Carolina s Total Land Area Essay . As of 2011, South Carolina has 13,120.5 acres of forestland. This is nearly 67% of the state s total land area. Out of all of the forestland in South Carolina, 88% is privately owned. 63% of the privately owned forestland is family owned. The average family owned forestland is 80 acres, and around 56% of private forestowners live on their land. 12% of South Carolina s forestland is publicly owned, or owned and managed by forest industries. These forest industries own nearly 137,400 acres. This number is down 93% from where it was in 2001, and it is continuing to decline. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the total area of forestland in South Carolina slightly declined between 2011 and 2014. The 2014 estimate of forestland acreage in South Carolina was 12,974.1. This showed a decrease of about 1.12%. This seems to contradict the stats given by the South Carolina Forestry Association in 2015, which say that South Carolina s forests contain 25 billion cubic feet of wood, which they say is more than at any time during the last century. The South Carolina Forestry Association also says that South Carolina s hardwood and softwood forests are both growing more wood than is able to be harvested. The United States Department of Agriculture shows that the number of live trees on forestland in South Carolina actually decreased by 4.1 percent from 2011 to 2014. The number of live trees decreased from 10.1 billion in 2011 to 9.7 billion in 2014. The volume of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. History and Evolution of Health Care Economics Essay History and Evolution of Health Care Economics Lauren Michaud HCS/440 Eric Oestmann August 12,2012 History and Evolution of Health Care Economics Healthcare economics has drastically changed over the years. It makes up for one sixth of American budget (Johnson, 2009). Health care economics has drastically changed partly due to new advances in technology over the years. Money is the factor of health care economics. Money drives economics and makes up health care and how far it can go. Economics will continue to change and financial advisors who have more education on health care economic advances will be beneficial to keep with changes in economics. Economics focuses on market. Market is like the buyer buys a product or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One particular factor for the drastically changing health care economics is the fact that as wealthier people became, the more willing they were to pay for goods and services. Even now, health care is most often on people s list after they buy food for their families and essentials for their home. With all the new advances in technology it has created a change in the supply and demand of health care economics. People in the 1900s were not as eager to consult with getting health care services as they are in today s time. Medical services have advanced with medications, surgeries, exams, and patient care. Shifting the financial burden also makes medical care more desirable to individuals. Insurance companies paying for all or most of medical costs give people more incentive to seek treatment or get regular visits by the doctor. The value of health care is also the change that has come to health care economics. People feel their health is priceless and valuable. They are willing to pay to make sure they are healthy and live a long life. Although the feeling has changed about health care and people have more money to spend, health care has made dramatic changes in their costs as well. These changing costs have made a change in health care economics as well. Debt in the US now is mostly credited to health care bills that Americans rack up. People are willing to spend as much as money as possible to pay for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pet Ownership And Perceived Well Being The researcher s hypothesis regarding pet ownership and perceived well being was not supported by the data. Pet ownership was not related to perceived well being, even after controlling for the gender of participants. The results of this study concurred with the results from Staats and colleagues (2006) study. Both studies were unable to find a significant relationship between pet ownership and perceived well being. However, unlike Staats and colleagues (2006) study, this study did not obtain information on whether participants subjectively believed that pet ownership would improve their well being. Future studies should incorporate this factor in order to understand the effect of positive psychology. The results of this study conflicted with the other previous researches. As indicated by Jorm and colleagues (2002), pet ownership was associated with longer survival rates in patients who had experienced a heart attack. Unlike coronary patients, the participants of this study did not suffer any medical conditions, and not to the researcher s knowledge, ever experienced a heart attack. Perhaps patients who experienced a heart attack were more attached to their pets as a form of distraction from any lingering effects of the episode. Further, in the study conducted by McConnell and colleagues (2011), it was revealed that pet owners experienced greater perceived well being, and were not as vulnerable to feelings of loneliness. • 12. The Marquis De Sades Attitude Toward Women The Marquis de Sade s Attitude Towards Women The Marquis de Sade was an author in France in the late 1700s. His works were infamous in their time, giving Sade a reputation as an adulterer, a debaucher, and a sodomite. One of the more common misrepresentations concerning Sade was his attitude toward women. His attitude was shown in his way of life and in two of his literary characters, Justine and Julliette. The Marquis de Sade was said to be the first and only philosopher of vice because of his atheistic and sadistic activities. He held the common woman in low regard. He believed that women dressed provocatively because they feared men would take no notice of them if they were naked. He cared little for forced sex. Rape is not a crime, ... He is said to put pornography in the service of women (Carter 36). The Justine series, consisting of six editions, was one of the most infamous and well known series written by Sade. While the series had several editions, the storyline remained basically the same throughout, though becoming more verbose in each edition. Two characters emerge from the Justine novels: Justine and Juliette, who are sisters orphaned at an early age. These two characters represent the opposite poles of womanhood in Sade s mind. • 13. Relationship Between ASL And FSL American Sign Language is the primary language of communication amongst the Deaf community in the United States. American Sign Language, more commonly referred to as ASL, is intriguing to many with the ability to hear. Any form of sign language can draw attention from most bystanders. The use of bodily language as a singular form of communication is vastly different for those who use body language as an aid for understanding a spoken conversation. Many hearing people use body language absent mindedly, from opening a one s stance to display dominance, to crossing arms to display uncertainty or insecurity. However, those who use sign language purposely adjust their body language in coherence with what they are saying. For example, in ASL, one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Derived from French Sign Language, ASL has grammar that differs greatly from American English or even British English. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school for the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native language was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened throughout the United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong. Undoubtedly, ASL is a singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier can result between hearing English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author of Significant Gestures a book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language barrier generally between hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students would head to school every morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that is all their own, but when the students were sent home the would be subjected to broken communication through signs, oral speech, lip reading, and writing. Often the written communication of deaf children is different from hearing students. As ASL is a separate language from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical system. Tabak eloquently summed up the difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the relatively innovative approaches being implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time when deaf students at Austine School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers and teachers. Now students at Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the Deaf community here in the United States. Hence the importance of ASL being recognized as its own language and not a subsection of English as many hearing people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We investigated into LBCC s finances for the conditions and costs that altering the policy entail, as well as what needs to take place before allowing armed security. Furthermore, research was conducted into other educational facilities that already have armed guards the benefits, as well as the downfalls. With the gathered information, we concluded that including an armed guard in our school safety measures would only benefit the facility and the well being of its student body and staff. While the subject of My Papa s Waltzhas spurred passionate academic debates from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Theodore Roethke wrote My Papa s Waltz as a reflection on the short childhood memories he had with his father. Background Information This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. • 33. The Art Of The Human Body In Art For centuries, artists treated the human body with reverence. The Greeks idealized the human body in sculpture. Michelangelo idealized the human body in painting, as did the Neoclassical and Romantic artists. While the Realists may have been the first to resist idealization of their subject material, it wasn t until the Expressionists in the late 19th century that artists began to deliberately distort the human body for a psychoanalytical purpose. Painters such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele developed new painting styles to explore a greater truth not accessible through mere representation. For example, Klimt further developed Gustave Moreau s Symbolist style, frequently recalling Greek and Roman myths in his works, such as the Furies in Jurisprudence. Schiele used distortion of the outer body to express a tormented inner state, such as in Seated Male Nude (self portrait). Oskar Kokoschka s self portrait cover design for Der Sturm magazine continues the development of Expressionism in two key ways. First, the figure s resemblance to Jesus Christ exhibits a continuation of resorting to symbolic structures to convey a greater theme. Second, Kokoschka s decision to paint himself reflects a trend of Expressionist artists at the time focusing on themselves as subjects for art. Both of these techniques combine to express Kokoschka s self identification as an Expressionist martyr. The Expressionists were heavily influenced by the Symbolist s emphasis on non representative art to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mobsters are coming to reclaim money stolen by their father and kill the family for the father s sins. When the mobsters arrive Lauren in the shower and Owen is already scheming a plan of attack. What the mobsters do not know is that Owen has a diagnosed behavioral problem. Aggression. The trauma we act out is guided our place in ideological systems. Gender interprets our trauma in terms of weakness and power. Masculinity teaches trains boys that manliness is defined by toleration of pain. Some unknown event has rattled its way into her brain. In all likelihood, she was the victim of someone s whims or dealt a bad hand of genetics. Whatever is the cause of Laurens tragedy, she directs her aggression inwards. Internalizing the aggressor and re victimizing herself. The scene about midway through the film where Lauren respectively stabs one of the mobsters is telling. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most notable is dream, the rhyming word in 2. Rossetti repeats the word in 7 and uses the plural in 13 and 15. In 7 the rhyming word sweet is the third use of the word, a climax of how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet. Concluding the poem, Rossetti repeats breath (16), low (17), and the phrase long ago (18). This special use of repetition justifies the title Echo, and it also stresses the major idea that it is only in one s memory that past experience has reality, even if dreams are no more than echoes. Thus rhyme is not just ornamental in Echo, but integral. The skill of Rossetti here is the same as in her half serious, half mocking poem Eve, even though the two poems are totally different. In Eve, she uses very plain rhyming words together with comically intended double rhymes. In Echo, her subject might be called fanciful and maybe even morbid, but the easiness of the rhyming words, like the diction of the poem generally, keeps the focus on regret and yearning rather than self indulgence. As in all rhyming poems, Rossetti s rhymes emphasize the conclusions of her lines. The rhymes go beyond this effect, however, because of the internal repetition echoes of the rhyming words, Echo is a poem in which rhyme is inseparable from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Transformation In A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol was first published in London on the 19th of December 1843, the novella was instantly popular and still is to this day. Dickens inspiration for the short story seems to come from his childhood experiences and his sympathy for the poor. In the story a miserable old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is shown the error of his ways and what will come of it if he doesn t make drastic changes. Various ghosts and spirits slowly transform him into a kinder more pleasant man. A Christmas Carolis a powerful novella that uses symbolism like the children Ignorance and Want, Scrooge s transformation, and Scrooges nephew Fred, to reinforce significant themes like social isolation, rebirth, and family. Dickens wanted to show the theme of rebirth through Scrooges transformation. Scrooge is changed from a humpy old man to a kinder nicer man, each stave represents a step in the transformation process. In stave one, two men come into Scrooge s shop and ask for a donation to help poor people in need, Scrooge gives them no money and asks why these people are not in prisons or Union workhouses (Dickens 7). He feels by paying his taxes he has done enough to help the poor. Scrooge goes on to say If they rather die...they had better do it and decrease the surplus population (Dickens 7). But in stave 3, Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim, a young innocent boy, will pass away in the future. Scrooge begs the second of the three spirits to spare his life, but the spirit says If ... There are now several methods of enhancing latent fingerprints for collection. These methods use chemicals, light sources and other techniques to enhance latent ridge marks on materials that prove difficult to successfully identify and lift prints from. • 40. Copyright Laws And Its Impact On Intellectual Property... Introduction Copyright laws were established to provide authors with rights over their creations and to prevent unauthorized use and distribution of these creations by others. Although the law grants ownership to one party, usually the author of the work, there is a doctrine for granting ownership of work made for hire to educational institutions (Crews, 2006). This doctrine supports that if the employee developed the work under the parameters of their scope of employment or through the use of resources provided by the employer, then the employer owns the rights to the work (Crews, 2006). In an effort to clarify the mandates of copyrightlaw and improve understanding of intellectual propertyownership, educational institutions have developed their own policies addressing intellectual propertyownership. The policies vary by institution, but share the same purpose of providing guidelines and conditions for ownership of creations by the educational institution s faculty. The University of Maryland in College Park (UMCP) promotes the development of educational materials by faculty to provide and deliver the best education to its students. In an effort to address the law of copyright and clarify intellectual property ownership, as well as patents and trademarks, UMCP has developed an extensive intellectual property policy. The earthquakemachine utilizes strain gauges and accelerometers numbering in the hundreds to record the many forces that artificially induced seismic activity places on the structure. New building codes and retrofitting practices have emerged due to the successes achieved at the NSF research site. As a result, $65 million will go toward similar research equipment facilities over the next five years.
