Valuation of Environment: A Study on Willingness to Pay for Improved Solid Wa...inventionjournals
ABSTRACT : Economic valuation of environment is not an easy but controversial task. Because putting a price tag on environment seems to be impossible. But economists are busy valuing everything in terms of money. From economic point of view valuation studies are much more required now days to find out the priorities of the people. Similarly this study has tried to find out how much value people put on a clean environment in terms of their willingness to pay for improved waste management. This study uses a contingent valuation method to estimate the willingness to pay of the households living in the township of Paradip Port Trust, Odisha. It also uses a multiple linear regression model to find out the factors which influence the willingness to pay of the households. The study reveals that almost 63% of the households are willing to pay which establishes a good quantum of expected revenue from the public in the form of a fee or tax.
We briefly present the current state of municipal solid waste management in China, the trends, and the challenges encountered in solving the issue of increasing waste production in urban area.

What you need to know about the Solid Waste Transfer Stationdadyrtb
This slideshow will show you what is behind the door of the Solid Waste Transfer Station. The Gwinnett county board of commissioners will meet on February 3, 2009 to vote again on decision to build the Solid Waste Transfer station at 4400 Shackleford Rd, Norcross, GA 30093 the location adjacent to the Holy Vietnamese Martyrs' Mission Catholic Church. 4000 church members with more than 800 children who attending church and school there will be effect by this decision.
The Gwinnett county CID recommend deny this project. The Gwinnett county Planning and Development recommended deny this rezone request but some commissioners still consider approve this project.
All Gwinnett county residents need to call and email their district commissioner to voice their concern and ask them to vote NO on this project.
This project is not good for the community. It is not a good land use project and it is potentially harmful to the health of the children and people surrounding it.
DESIGN A LEACHATE COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR A SMALL CAMP SANITARY LANDFILLIAEME Publication
Sanitary landfill is still the most cost-effective and appropriate method for waste disposal in Iraq. The municipal solid waste has high moisture content of about 49.1% and density of 162.6 kg/m3. The organic fraction reaches about 79%. Based on the studies and reports of study area, the average waste generation rate was 0.45 kg/capita/day. The design of the base liner, leachate collection system, and final cover system for the study area landfill is described in this paper. Since the landfill is located in an arid environment, leachate generation is low and potential infiltration through the lining system is minimal. A 250 mm diameter drainage pipes have longitudinal slope 1% to reduce sedimentation and allow adequate flow capacity.
Presentation can help you to understand concept, principle engineering and important factors of landfilling such as component, requirement, microbial activity, landfill gas and leachate generation

students from the University of Kansas set studied the public waste and recycling system for the City of Lawrence, Kansas. Students also researched best practices broadly for waste and recycling. Business (economic), technology, and customer experience factors were considered. The result is a rough design plan for phased implementation of a more efficient, comprehensive waste management system for the City of Lawrence with the promise of increased convenience and significantly improved rates of household recycling behavior.
Funding Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Operations & Maintenance for the Long TermRotary International
Rotarians and partners often focus on the initial investment in providing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. But sustainability depends on generating a perpetual stream of money to fund operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation. A panel of Rotarians will discuss options such as earning revenue from water or sanitation supply chain management, contractual fee-for-service models, water kiosks, renting or selling filters, microfinancing, revolving funds, co-ops, and subsidies.

Improving the viability of probiotics by encapsulation methods for developmen...Open Access Research Paper
The popularity of functional foods among scientists and common people has been increasing day by day. Awareness and modernization make the consumer think better regarding food and nutrition. Now a day’s individual knows very well about the relation between food consumption and disease prevalence. Humans have a diversity of microbes in the gut that together form the gut microflora. Probiotics are the health-promoting live microbial cells improve host health through gut and brain connection and fighting against harmful bacteria. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the two bacterial genera which are considered to be probiotic. These good bacteria are facing challenges of viability. There are so many factors such as sensitivity to heat, pH, acidity, osmotic effect, mechanical shear, chemical components, freezing and storage time as well which affects the viability of probiotics in the dairy food matrix as well as in the gut. Multiple efforts have been done in the past and ongoing in present for these beneficial microbial population stability until their destination in the gut. One of a useful technique known as microencapsulation makes the probiotic effective in the diversified conditions and maintain these microbe’s community to the optimum level for achieving targeted benefits. Dairy products are found to be an ideal vehicle for probiotic incorporation. It has been seen that the encapsulated microbial cells show higher viability than the free cells in different processing and storage conditions as well as against bile salts in the gut. They make the food functional when incorporated, without affecting the product sensory characteristics.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.
