- WD group is undergoing a major structure change, and perhaps one of the biggest advantages we have gained through applying for the Times BGC is to enable a smooth transition with regards to environmental policies and dataโฆ Re-Thinking is a dedicated sustainability resource of approximately 35 employees providing consultancy, advisory and assessment services to the whole group.
- So, to that effect weโre working with our supply chain to implement Environmental Management Systems within their business. By doing this weโre ensuring theyโre a more responsible subcontractor, theyโre more efficient with regards to energy, water, materials and waste. By doing this theyโre saving money. Greater efficiency = greater competitiveness. Subcontractors we work with are more competitive in tendering to use, and in turn weโre more competitive in tendering to our clients.

- So how will we diver the remaining 30% over the coming years? Improved on-site practice (Higher levels of segregation) Best waste management contractors, with latest technologies to maximise segregation for recycling For the last segment we will be relying on advances in technology, which are in the pipeline for many waste contractors. Advanced waste treatment (Energy from waste etc). Plasma arc treatment can eliminate hazardous wastes, and even melt asbestos fibres to an inert substance. IMPORTANT โ Recycling will always be considered as a priority above recovery (Energy from Waste). Improved specification of materials to allow for easier segregation for recycling will contribute to levels of recycling.
