An elevator pitch is a short summary used to describe a business or idea in a concise manner, typically no longer than 30 seconds. It is important for ensuring team members communicate a unified message and to gain support, engagement, and opportunities. An effective elevator pitch tells the listener the subject being discussed, what is being said about the subject, how it will be conveyed, and whether the message has been communicated clearly. It should follow best practices like being concise, clear, compelling, credible, and customized to the audience. The document provides guidance on developing an elevator pitch, including gathering information, organizing it into logical categories, and getting feedback to refine the message.

The importance of getting a creative brief rightSean Lane
All creatives have been there (and designers if you haven't, I guarantee you will at some stage), you leave a briefing meeting with no clarity about what the task at hand is. From the get go, you're tredding in quick sand. On the flip side there's nothing better than having the sparks of concepts starting even before you leave the briefing. In this document. My intention here is to keep things simple and help the standard of brief writing. I hope this helps in some way. Sean.
The elevator pitch, which is part of the NAF Entrepreneurship course, is a great way for students in any course to learn how to synthesize ideas into meaningful summaries. This session demonstrates the process of developing and presenting a pitch. High school students will present their own ideas to participants who
then will have a chance to try it themselves.

Impress Me or You're Dead — 5 Ways Recruiting Is Morphing Into MarketingHuman Capital Media
It’s an ugly truth — in the traditional applicant tracking system-friendly world, recruiters hold the power. Emboldened by technology that allows them to view resumes faster than a grocery store clerk scans a can of vegetables, recruiters typically spend five seconds or less evaluating each resume for a “fit” to the job in question. Could it get less personal?
But wait. Payback, as they say around the neighborhood, is, well, it’s full of retribution. Great candidates are increasingly making quick judgments about recruiters and the companies for which they work, often before a recruiter can pitch the job in question. What’s going on?
Join us for this webcast hosted by Kris Dunn of the award-winning recruiting blog “Fistful of Talent,” and we’ll give you the 411 on:
How social media and third-party sites like Glassdoor are creating transparency related to which companies are “employers of choice” for great talent.
How the best recruiters are starting to think like marketers, proactively nurturing passive candidates and truly building an employment brand.
Why that employment brand matters in today’s world and what branding elements are present in employers that are viewed as authentic by star candidates.
The top five marketing techniques recruiters must know to find and hire top talent.
How the right technology helps you survive the new rules for how great candidates judge and treat recruiters.
Impress them or you’re dead. Recruiters used to have the power, and maybe they still do with average talent. But if you want to land the best talent as a recruiter, you’re also being judged and evaluated by candidates. Join us for this Workforce webcast, and we’ll show you what your company can do to be successful and what you have to do to deliver great talent.
In Module III. You will learn more about how to articulate your skills, strengths and accomplishments and increase your chances of getting interviewed.

You’ve no doubt noticed that we’re slowly drowning beneath an ocean of content. Before long, our little world of words and pictures will be so flood bound, it’ll make Tuvalu look like Mt Everest.
That creates a huge challenge for communicators. How do you produce the stories that will float to the surface… that will engage and inspire people to belief, action and results?
Thankfully, there’s something working in your favour. You see, almost every business, brand, project or team is loaded with stories that could help and inspire others.
You’ve just got to know how to tell them…
Can you intrigue and entice someone to want to know more about you in 30 seconds or less? When you are on the job hunt, you sometimes have very little time to convey what you can do for a company. So you need a complete, concise, composed, compelling “elevator speech” ready to go at moment’s notice. Join us to learn how to compose one that helps you stand out from the crowd.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. What is an Elevator Pitch?
Elevator pitch, n. (American) –
A short answer to a question you
might be asked in an elevator. Should
be no longer than 30 seconds.
3. Why is it so important?
• A “reality check” to ensure that team members see
the business the same way.
• To ensure that the team members spread a unified
consistent message
• A key practice to spread excitement, gain support and
engagement and to get something from someone
• Key difference between success and failure.
• An important Change Management deliverable for
every business unit.
4. What is the outcome?
• A series of simple ‘speeches”, that evolves over time,
that engage and lead to actions
• Speeches are being given to your customers, peers
and staff … and they are all slightly different
• A key communication tool
• Output may change by
stakeholder (staff, customer,
investor, supplier) –
one size does not fit all
6. Four questions in organizing
• What is my subject?
• What am I trying to say about it?
• How will I say it?
• Have I said it well enough?
7. What is my subject?
Collect information
• Make notes
• Soak up information like a sponge
• Think of interesting angles while you are gathering
information
• Write a formal report
8. What am I trying to say?
Discuss the subject with someone
• Tell him/her a story
• Explain what happened
• Give only the information the listener needs to
understand
9. The elevator pitch
• Imagine you are in a lift with Bill Gates
– What would you tell him about your business?
– What is the most important thing to say?
– You have 1 minute!
• Used with investors
10. Nine Cs of effective elevator pitches
Concise As few words as possible, but no fewer
Clear Your grandparents can understand it
Compelling Explains the problem
Credible Explains how you solved the problem
Conceptual Not unnecessary detail
Concrete Specific and tangible
Customized Addresses audience’s interests
Consistent Same basic message
Conversational Not complete, but aims to interest
audience in more info
11. How will I say it?
Four ways to start
• Write a summary sentence
• Write some possible leads
• Write an ending
• Write without notes
12. How will I say it?

"Here's what we need from you…”
"Here's what you can count on from me …”
17. Keep in mind
Pull one compelling sentence out of each of your four key
messages. Put them in order – top to bottom – to
create your elevator speech.
Test: Can you image yourself standing in front of an
audience saying the elevator pitch?
Are you ready with facts/stories/examples to explain any
individual sentence if they ask for more info? If so you
have the technique down!
18. Have you said it well enough?
Ask someone else to read it
– Ask them to be critical of the structure,
organization, logical flow
– Ask them if the piece is interesting,
easy to read
– Ask them what they learned
after reading
