The Effects of Soft Drink on Weight Outcomes
within Aged 16–24 Years of the AL- Mustaqbal
Collage Students.
Soft Drink:
The term ‘soft drink’ refers to carbonated beverages or it refers to regular or
sugar-sweetened soft drinks, the sugar added is sucrose. However, some of the
literature uses the term ‘soft drinks’ to include artificially sweetened or ‘diet‘
carbonated beverages. we have clarified meaning in the surrounding text. Other
terminology includes ‘sugary drinks’ or ‘sugar-containing drinks’ — terms which
encompass carbonated sugar-sweetened soft drinks as well as fruit juices, fruit
drinks, cordials, sports drinks, energy drinks and iced teas. Throughout this
report, amounts of soft drinks are expressed in milliliters (1mL = approximately 1
gram).
Body Mass Index (BMI):
is accepted as the clinical standard for judging
excessive weight and obesity. BMI is defined as body
weight in kilograms divided by the square of height
measured in meters.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI):
1. less than 18.5 may be considered underweight.
2. between 18.5 and 24.9 may be considered normal
weight.
3- Between 25 and 29.9 are considered overweight.
4- 30 and above are considered obese.
5- Over 40 are considered extremely obese.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI):
Methods:
Multistage random cluster sampling was used to sample the different student
class
stages. Institutional Review Boards of the AL--Mustaqbal Collage, approved
procedures.
Questionnaires and anthropometric data were collected from the AL--Mustaqbal
Collage
students. The 2018 survey collect data of 234 samples on all age groups
and was therefore excluded male and non-pregnant female adults aged (18-21)
years were included in the present analysis. Date of birth and gender were self-
reported by participants in interviewer administered students' questionnaires.
Age was defined as age at last birthday using the date of birth and date of survey,
and was specified continuously using age and an age.
Trained students measured weight and height. BMI was calculated as weight (kg)
divided by height squared (m2).
Overweight was defined according to the World Health Organization guidelines as
a BMI 52.5 kg/m .
In summary, reducing soft drink consumption is one of
a number of important behaviors to address in the
prevention of overweight and obesity. Reduce frequency
and quantity of soft drink consumption, and there is
linear relationship between age and BMI.
There is a scientific evidence linking excess soft drink
consumption to obesity and other non-communicable
diseases. Sugar-sweetened beverages are the largest
source of added sugar in the diet.
