Broiler breeders are fed restricted to avoid obesity-related problems. Pullets are fed restricted up to 43% of ad libitum feed intake (for same body weight) during the rearing phase, and this chronic feed restriction can lead to different behavioural problems. Alternative feeding strategies targeting an increase in feed allotment, without an increment in energy input, might help birds coping with this phase. The aim of this project was to examine the effect of different feeding strategies (alternative diet and non-daily feeding frequency) under simulated commercial conditions.

This research examines the effects of alternative feeding strategies for broiler breeders, including rationed diets and non-daily feeding schedules. Over 1,680 female broiler breeders were subjected to 4 dietary treatments: a commercial daily diet, an alternative daily diet higher in certain nutrients, a commercial diet fed 4 days per week, and a graduated commercial diet with varying feed days. Data was collected on growth rate, maturity, feather coverage, lesions, and more. Preliminary results found the 4/3 schedule resulted in lighter birds, the control had worse feather coverage, and the alternative diet increased litter moisture and lesions initially. Behavioral data is still being analyzed to understand effects on stereotypies.

Ninety-six broiler chicks will be fed either a control diet or diets with 5%, 10%, or 15% MMW from 0-3 weeks. At 3 weeks, all birds will receive the control diet to 6 weeks. FITT and nutrient retention will be measured at 3 and 6 weeks. Data will be analyzed to determine the effects of MMW on performance, nutrient retention, FITT, and the correlation between FITT and nutrient retention. The results will provide information on how MMW impacts broiler production

An experimental study was carried over a
period of 42 days using 160 day-old commercial broiler chicks
(Ven Cobb) to study the effect of copper and flavomycin as feed
additives on growth performance in broiler chicken. The birds
were divided into four groups with four replicates of ten chicks in
each replicate. The treatment (T1) was control with standard
broiler ration and Cu as CuSO4 at 100 ppm, 200 ppm and
flavomycin at 10 ppm were supplemented in the basal diet to
form treatment 2 (T2), treatment 3 (T3) and treatment 4 (T4)
respectively.
The chemical composition of T1, T2, T3 and T4 rations
contained 15.43, 106.49, 212.54 and 18.69 ppm of Cu in broiler
starter and 12.67, 101.13, 202.72 and 20.20 ppm of Cu in broiler
finisher, respectively. The results of the present study revealed
that the supplementation of Cu as CuSO4 (100 and 200 ppm) or
flavomycin (10 ppm) showed no significant difference among the
treatment groups with regard to the feed consumption, body
weight gain and feed conversion ratio up to six weeks of age. The
carcass weight, slaughter weight, dressing percentage and giblet
yield were not influenced by dietary supplementation of either
Cu or flavomycin. It was concluded that dietary supplementation
of broiler chicken with Cu up to 200 ppm and flavomycin at 10
ppm did not have any adverse effect on production performance
of broiler chicken.Thesis Abstract
The document summarizes a thesis presentation on developing a Healthy Eating Score (HES) to measure compliance with Canada's Food Guide. The study used data from an online survey of 1115 female Canadian runners. Principal component analysis identified 3 clusters within the HES related to food groups and dietary recommendations. Analysis of variance showed those in the highest HES tertile achieved significantly higher scores on food groups, guidance, health behaviors. Hierarchical regression identified associations across individual to environmental levels and a negative association with snacking. The results supported the HES as a valid tool for assessing population adherence to dietary guidelines in a time and cost-effective manner.

10 Years of Buck Test
This document summarizes a 10-year study of the Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test. Over the 10 years, the study evaluated 639 male meat goats from 84 herds across 20 states to identify goats that performed well in terms of growth and resistance to internal parasites on a pasture-based diet. The top-performing goats were selected for breeding or sale. The study also demonstrated best practices for parasite control in small ruminants and increased the use of performance testing in the meat goat industry by communicating results.

The present work was aimed to determine the comparative effect of feeding different levels of black cumin
on growth, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of COBB-500 broiler. Three hundred and twenty, daysold straight run COBB-500 chicks from a lot of the same hatch were brooded in an electrically operated
battery brooder for a period of 7 days, where pre-experimental diet was offered. On the 8th day, chicks
having uniform body weight were randomly allocated into four dietary treatments with four replications
(20 chicks in each). The isoproteinous and isocaloric formulated standard starter (1–10 days), grower
(11–20 days), and finisher (21–42 days) diets were supplemented with different levels of black cumin of
T1 – control, T2 – 0.25% black cumin, T3 – 0.5% black cumin, and T4 – 0.75% black cumin, respectively.
The chicks were offered ad libitum treatment diets and clean drinking water. The desired data were
recorded weekly, which included live weight, weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of
broiler birds. The obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis under completely randomized design
as per the methods of MSTAT. Final live weight of the birds was found highly significant (P < 0.01) for
all treatment groups. Highest final weight gain (2244.59 g) was found in birds fed ration supplemented
with 0.5% black cumin. Daily live weight of the birds was also found highly significant (P < 0.01) for all
treatment groups. Highest daily live weight gain (60.27 g) was found in birds fed ration supplemented
with 0.5% black cumin. Supplementation of black cumin in the broiler rations did not exhibit any
significant effect (P > 0.05) on the total feed consumption. Feed conversion ratio was found significantly
different (P < 0.01) for all treatment groups. It is, therefore, concluded that inclusion of black cumin in

This study investigated the effects of different diets on development time and energy content in Drosophila melanogaster flies that were selected for starvation resistance compared to unselected control flies. Larvae from starvation-resistant and control populations were reared on media varying in calorie level (low, medium, high) and sugar fraction (10-90%). Triglyceride and protein assays found that starvation-resistant flies had higher triglyceride levels across all diets compared to controls. Increasing sugar fraction also increased triglyceride levels in both populations. Higher sugar diets led to longer development times, and flies with longer development had higher triglyceride levels. Nutritional managment of cachexia
Nutritional management is important for patients with cancer cachexia. The goals of nutrition intervention are weight stabilization and improved quality of life and survival. Nutrition screening using a validated tool can identify patients in need of comprehensive assessment using the PG-SGA. A nutrition prescription including increased protein, energy, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can improve intake and attenuate weight loss. Regular nutrition counseling and high protein supplements are effective for implementation. Outcomes like intake and weight loss can be positively impacted, though effects on quality of life and survival require longer-term studies.

This study examined the relationship between whole-grain intake, chronic disease risk factors, and weight status among adolescents ages 12-19 using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999-2004. The study found that over half of adolescents did not consume whole grains and fiber intake was below recommendations. Higher whole-grain intake was associated with lower BMI, waist circumference, and chronic disease risk factors like insulin levels in boys. In girls, higher intake was linked to higher HDL cholesterol and folate levels as well as lower C-reactive protein levels. The results support promoting whole grains for adolescents' health.

period of 42 days using 160 day-old commercial broiler chicks
(Ven Cobb) to study the effect of copper and flavomycin as feed
additives on growth performance in broiler chicken. The birds
were divided into four groups with four replicates of ten chicks in
each replicate. The treatment (T1) was control with standard
broiler ration and Cu as CuSO4 at 100 ppm, 200 ppm and
flavomycin at 10 ppm were supplemented in the basal diet to
form treatment 2 (T2), treatment 3 (T3) and treatment 4 (T4)
respectively.
The chemical composition of T1, T2, T3 and T4 rations
contained 15.43, 106.49, 212.54 and 18.69 ppm of Cu in broiler
starter and 12.67, 101.13, 202.72 and 20.20 ppm of Cu in broiler
finisher, respectively. The results of the present study revealed
that the supplementation of Cu as CuSO4 (100 and 200 ppm) or
flavomycin (10 ppm) showed no significant difference among the
treatment groups with regard to the feed consumption, body
weight gain and feed conversion ratio up to six weeks of age. The
carcass weight, slaughter weight, dressing percentage and giblet
yield were not influenced by dietary supplementation of either
Cu or flavomycin. It was concluded that dietary supplementation
of broiler chicken with Cu up to 200 ppm and flavomycin at 10
ppm did not have any adverse effect on production performance
of broiler chicken.Thesis Abstract

This document summarizes a 10-year study of the Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test. Over the 10 years, the study evaluated 639 male meat goats from 84 herds across 20 states to identify goats that performed well in terms of growth and resistance to internal parasites on a pasture-based diet. The top-performing goats were selected for breeding or sale. The study also demonstrated best practices for parasite control in small ruminants and increased the use of performance testing in the meat goat industry by communicating results.

The present work was aimed to determine the comparative effect of feeding different levels of black cumin
on growth, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of COBB-500 broiler. Three hundred and twenty, daysold straight run COBB-500 chicks from a lot of the same hatch were brooded in an electrically operated
battery brooder for a period of 7 days, where pre-experimental diet was offered. On the 8th day, chicks
having uniform body weight were randomly allocated into four dietary treatments with four replications
(20 chicks in each). The isoproteinous and isocaloric formulated standard starter (1–10 days), grower
(11–20 days), and finisher (21–42 days) diets were supplemented with different levels of black cumin of
T1 – control, T2 – 0.25% black cumin, T3 – 0.5% black cumin, and T4 – 0.75% black cumin, respectively.
The chicks were offered ad libitum treatment diets and clean drinking water. The desired data were
recorded weekly, which included live weight, weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency of
broiler birds. The obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis under completely randomized design
as per the methods of MSTAT. Final live weight of the birds was found highly significant (P < 0.01) for
all treatment groups. Highest final weight gain (2244.59 g) was found in birds fed ration supplemented
with 0.5% black cumin. Daily live weight of the birds was also found highly significant (P < 0.01) for all
treatment groups. Highest daily live weight gain (60.27 g) was found in birds fed ration supplemented
with 0.5% black cumin. Supplementation of black cumin in the broiler rations did not exhibit any
significant effect (P > 0.05) on the total feed consumption. Feed conversion ratio was found significantly
different (P < 0.01) for all treatment groups. It is, therefore, concluded that inclusion of black cumin in

This study investigated the effects of different diets on development time and energy content in Drosophila melanogaster flies that were selected for starvation resistance compared to unselected control flies. Larvae from starvation-resistant and control populations were reared on media varying in calorie level (low, medium, high) and sugar fraction (10-90%). Triglyceride and protein assays found that starvation-resistant flies had higher triglyceride levels across all diets compared to controls. Increasing sugar fraction also increased triglyceride levels in both populations. Higher sugar diets led to longer development times, and flies with longer development had higher triglyceride levels. Protein levels were less affected than triglycerides and decreased
Nutritional managment of cachexia
Nutritional management is important for patients with cancer cachexia. The goals of nutrition intervention are weight stabilization and improved quality of life and survival. Nutrition screening using a validated tool can identify patients in need of comprehensive assessment using the PG-SGA. A nutrition prescription including increased protein, energy, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can improve intake and attenuate weight loss. Regular nutrition counseling and high protein supplements are effective for implementation. Outcomes like intake and weight loss can be positively impacted, though effects on quality of life and survival require longer-term studies.

This study examined the relationship between whole-grain intake, chronic disease risk factors, and weight status among adolescents ages 12-19 using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999-2004. The study found that over half of adolescents did not consume whole grains and fiber intake was below recommendations. Higher whole-grain intake was associated with lower BMI, waist circumference, and chronic disease risk factors like insulin levels in boys. In girls, higher intake was linked to higher HDL cholesterol and folate levels as well as lower C-reactive protein levels. The results support promoting whole grains for adolescents' health.

emergency.2 It recognizes that hunger and malnutrition are rooted
in poverty, deprivation, and under development, and that they are

designed to find the efficacy of the nutritional intervention for the
recovery of impaired carbohydrate metabolism and correlation of
weight and height with PP-Sugar and BMI after nutritional

The Limited Role of the Streaming Instability during Moon and Exomoon Formation
It is generally accepted that the Moon accreted from the disk formed by an impact between the proto-Earth and
impactor, but its details are highly debated. Some models suggest that a Mars-sized impactor formed a silicate
melt-rich (vapor-poor) disk around Earth, whereas other models suggest that a highly energetic impact produced a
silicate vapor-rich disk. Such a vapor-rich disk, however, may not be suitable for the Moon formation, because
moonlets, building blocks of the Moon, of 100 m–100 km in radius may experience strong gas drag and fall onto
Earth on a short timescale, failing to grow further. This problem may be avoided if large moonlets (?100 km)
form very quickly by streaming instability, which is a process to concentrate particles enough to cause gravitational
collapse and rapid formation of planetesimals or moonlets. Here, we investigate the effect of the streaming
instability in the Moon-forming disk for the first time and find that this instability can quickly form ∼100 km-sized
moonlets. However, these moonlets are not large enough to avoid strong drag, and they still fall onto Earth quickly.
This suggests that the vapor-rich disks may not form the large Moon, and therefore the models that produce vaporpoor disks are supported. This result is applicable to general impact-induced moon-forming disks, supporting the
previous suggestion that small planets (<1.6 R⊕) are good candidates to host large moons because their impactinduced disks would likely be vapor-poor. We find a limited role of streaming instability in satellite formation in an
impact-induced disk, whereas it plays a key role during planet formation.

SDSS1335+0728: The awakening of a ∼ 106M⊙ black hole⋆
Context. The early-type galaxy SDSS J133519.91+072807.4 (hereafter SDSS1335+0728), which had exhibited no prior optical variations during the preceding two decades, began showing significant nuclear variability in the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) alert stream from December 2019 (as ZTF19acnskyy). This variability behaviour, coupled with the host-galaxy properties, suggests that SDSS1335+0728 hosts a ∼ 106M⊙ black hole (BH) that is currently in the process of ‘turning on’. Aims. We present a multi-wavelength photometric analysis and spectroscopic follow-up performed with the aim of better understanding the origin of the nuclear variations detected in SDSS1335+0728. Methods. We used archival photometry (from WISE, 2MASS, SDSS, GALEX, eROSITA) and spectroscopic data (from SDSS and LAMOST) to study the state of SDSS1335+0728 prior to December 2019, and new observations from Swift, SOAR/Goodman, VLT/X-shooter, and Keck/LRIS taken after its turn-on to characterise its current state. We analysed the variability of SDSS1335+0728 in the X-ray/UV/optical/mid-infrared range, modelled its spectral energy distribution prior to and after December 2019, and studied the evolution of its UV/optical spectra. Results. From our multi-wavelength photometric analysis, we find that: (a) since 2021, the UV flux (from Swift/UVOT observations) is four times brighter than the flux reported by GALEX in 2004; (b) since June 2022, the mid-infrared flux has risen more than two times, and the W1−W2 WISE colour has become redder; and (c) since February 2024, the source has begun showing X-ray emission. From our spectroscopic follow-up, we see that (i) the narrow emission line ratios are now consistent with a more energetic ionising continuum; (ii) broad emission lines are not detected; and (iii) the [OIII] line increased its flux ∼ 3.6 years after the first ZTF alert, which implies a relatively compact narrow-line-emitting region. Conclusions. We conclude that the variations observed in SDSS1335+0728 could be either explained by a ∼ 106M⊙ AGN that is just turning on or by an exotic tidal disruption event (TDE). If the former is true, SDSS1335+0728 is one of the strongest cases of an AGNobserved in the process of activating. If the latter were found to be the case, it would correspond to the longest and faintest TDE ever observed (or another class of still unknown nuclear transient). JAMES WEBB STUDY THE MASSIVE BLACK HOLE SEEDS
The pathway(s) to seeding the massive black holes (MBHs) that exist at the heart of galaxies in the present and distant Universe remains an unsolved problem. Here we categorise, describe and quantitatively discuss the formation pathways of both light and heavy seeds. We emphasise that the most recent computational models suggest that rather than a bimodal-like mass spectrum between light and heavy seeds with light at one end and heavy at the other that instead a continuum exists. Light seeds being more ubiquitous and the heavier seeds becoming less and less abundant due the rarer environmental conditions required for their formation. We therefore examine the different mechanisms that give rise to different seed mass spectrums. We show how and why the mechanisms that produce the heaviest seeds are also among the rarest events in the Universe and are hence extremely unlikely to be the seeds for the vast majority of the MBH population. We quantify, within the limits of the current large uncertainties in the seeding processes, the expected number densities of the seed mass spectrum. We argue that light seeds must be at least 103 to 105 times more numerous than heavy seeds to explain the MBH population as a whole. Based on our current understanding of the seed population this makes heavy seeds (Mseed > 103 M⊙) a significantly more likely pathway given that heavy seeds have an abundance pattern than is close to and likely in excess of 10−4 compared to light seeds. Finally, we examine the current state-of-the-art in numerical calculations and recent observations and plot a path forward for near-future advances in both domains.

Mapping the Growth of Supermassive Black Holes as a Function of Galaxy Stella...
The growth of supermassive black holes is strongly linked to their galaxies. It has been shown that the population
mean black hole accretion rate (BHAR) primarily correlates with the galaxy stellar mass (Må) and redshift for the
general galaxy population. This work aims to provide the best measurements of BHAR as a function of Må and
redshift over ranges of 109.5 < Må < 1012 Me and z < 4. We compile an unprecedentedly large sample with 8000
active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and 1.3 million normal galaxies from nine high-quality survey fields following a
wedding cake design. We further develop a semiparametric Bayesian method that can reasonably estimate BHAR
and the corresponding uncertainties, even for sparsely populated regions in the parameter space. BHAR is
constrained by X-ray surveys sampling the AGN accretion power and UV-to-infrared multiwavelength surveys
sampling the galaxy population. Our results can independently predict the X-ray luminosity function (XLF) from
the galaxy stellar mass function (SMF), and the prediction is consistent with the observed XLF. We also try adding
external constraints from the observed SMF and XLF. We further measure BHAR for star-forming and quiescent
galaxies and show that star-forming BHAR is generally larger than or at least comparable to the quiescent BHAR.

Abstract: Reproducibility (aka determinism in some cases) constitutes a fundamental aspect in various fields of computer science, such as floating-point computations in numerical analysis and simulation, concurrency models in parallelism, reproducible builds for third parties integration and packaging, and containerization for execution environments. These concepts, while pervasive across diverse concerns, often exhibit intricate inter-dependencies, making it challenging to achieve a comprehensive understanding. In this short and vision paper we delve into the application of software engineering techniques, specifically variability management, to systematically identify and explicit points of variability that may give rise to reproducibility issues (eg language, libraries, compiler, virtual machine, OS, environment variables, etc). The primary objectives are: i) gaining insights into the variability layers and their possible interactions, ii) capturing and documenting configurations for the sake of reproducibility, and iii) exploring diverse configurations to replicate, and hence validate and ensure the robustness of results. By adopting these methodologies, we aim to address the complexities associated with reproducibility and replicability in modern software systems and environments, facilitating a more comprehensive and nuanced perspective on these critical aspects.
