This document outlines different views on politics, including that politics can be seen as the art of government which focuses on personnel and machinery; as public affairs and the conduct and management of public interest; and as attempting to resolve conflict through compromise and consensus to arrive at agreements. A fourth view is that politics involves the exercise of authority over the production, distribution, and use of resources.
