The future of television is nothing short of amazing. It's time we all take control of mass media before it completely takes control of us. This is my take on what's about to pummel traditional broadcasters.

For the past three years I’ve attended International CES. Each year I break down the show into larger thematic takeaways and trends that every brand should know. I look for the bigger picture and implications of technology moving forward and unveil the opportunities at hand over the course of the four day conference. Give it a read. Get inspired by something. The disruption of branding, advertising and campaigningSUE Amsterdam
This is a keynote I did for the marketing team of a FMCG brand. Their question was: what should we be doing to make better campaigns for our brands and products? They are overwhelmed with choices: Should we use digital or classic advertising? Should we engage, activate or promote? Should we build fans and followers or not? I want to argue that the real challenge is not about going digital or not. It’s about being disruptive or not. Disruptive brands or products build audiences both online, offline and through word-of-mouth. Disruptive brands have a bigger impact and are more persuasive in converting prospects into buyers.
What if consumers took over the business of building brands?Nurun
Does it still make sense to launch a new product or service with traditional media? Or can brands now dispense with billboards, print, TV… and rely exclusively
on digital channels to conduct a successful launch? One thing our strategists agree on: it’s a subject for debate.
Recap / Summary of the speakers at Marketing Automation Summit 2015 (Room 3) by Nick Vinckier (@Nick Vinckier):
- Customer Journey Management
- User Experience
- Predictive Marketing
- Automated Advertising
- Turning complaints into sales
- Integrated digital marketing
Change is the only constant, and who knows it better than us.
Since internet and mobile is changing every industry so I decided to have a look at the impact of these two game-changing factors on MR and summed up my thoughts in the attached presentation.
Here is a summary of what I think will happen in Marketing research:-
1. Traditional MR will be replaced by Social Media Listening and Integrated data solutions
2. Revenues of marketing research will mostly come from emerging economies and hence more understanding of local languages and cultures will be required to interpret data meaningfully
3. Integrated data mining tools that will integrate social media data, sales data/ retail data and with customer profile will be used in predictive models to forecast behaviors and trends.
4. Impact of each data based decision will be assessed through financial value i.e. cost of analysis and revenue generated
5. A Research manager will be required to understand the complete value chain of client and how the data is flowing in the value chain. Plus, he will be required to understand strategic planning, forecasting models, data integration methodologies

Here's the hard truth about marketing: your customers are better at it than you. Over the past decade, marketers perfected content creation, but as a result, things got a lot more competitive for businesses and a lot more crowded for buyers. So while creating content is still your best and cheapest strategy, it should no longer be your only strategy. That's where your customers come in. Learn more.

RMD24 | Debunking the non-endemic revenue myth Marvin Vacquier Droop | First ...BBPMedia1

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
8. The central challenge to the folks running the
traditional aspects of content businesses is
that their business models are based on
moving the containers around. No containers
means no business model. Chaos.
10. A schedule for non live events in an on-
demand world is an arcane idea. No schedule
and again no business model. The PVR was
only the start.
11. Choice is at
the center of
my media
universe.
This is an actual picture of my living room.
12. W

Safari for everything else.
My Imagination
13. Crazy thing is that there is no
single revolutionary at the core
but rather a bunch of
revolutionaries who are
meeting a massive pent up
consumer demand which is
simply....
14. Give us access to
what we want
not what you
think we want.
Or we will continue to figure it out without your help.
15. The killer app for mass
adoption may simply be how
we control it.
Who would have predicted what would
happen when someone put an
accelerometer into a game controller.
16. It’s not rocket science. It’s
adoption of what we already
have. That’s what makes it
so compelling and
disruptive.
17.
18. You want this to happen. You
want your own version of the
mash-up. You want the channel
of you. Thats what will fuel the
revolution.
20. We will buy the best content, surf the rest,
entertain, educate and connect ourselves in
ways we have not yet imagined.
We will shift between narrative and
connective content seamlessly.
Definition: Narrative content tells a story. Connective content
make your actions part of the story.
21. The future of
television may very
well be built on an
AppStore model.
Who wins this is up for grabs but
it’s an awesome opportunity.
Most of the bits are already here
all it needs is a platform for us
entrepreneurs.
22. When we are
here the
traditional
broadcast
model is done.
This will happen faster than the traditionalist
think. Once the current economic crisis
starts to abate. The shift will be fast.
We are here.
24. You don’t need the mass
market only the meaningful
market to screw up advertising
models.
Advertisers like consumers with
money. Consumers with money value
their time. It only takes 15% of the
population to shift and today’s game
is over.
25. As the money shifts the 30 second spot
model will finally fall and as it does all those
that depend on it shall fall with it.
Innovate now or die later - Please invent!
can’t say it any clearer.
Of course the people who really need to understand this point
will never see this presentation - they don’t even know what
slideshare is. Irony
BTW I can’t believe the impact of the PVR has been successfully ignored for so
long an effort definitely worth some sort of award...somewhere. Perhaps a
Darwin...just a thought.
