All I can remember is hearing an explosion that sounded like a bomb going off in my bedroom. Before I knew it, I was ripped out of my bed and thrown to the floor, flipped over on my back, and handcuffed. It all happened so fast. There was so much smoke in the house that I could not see what was happening, and I was coughing from the foul smell of sulphur. I first thought it may have been the Bloods coming back for revenge, but when I heard the yelling, I knew it wasn't the Bloods. It could have only been the police; they are the only ones around here who yell when they storm into your house. Had it been a rival gang member, I would have heard nothing. My heart felt as though it was expounding from my chest like an alien being that lived inside of me. I was the first one led out of the house by two LAPD SWAT team members. One of them said to me, "You’re fucked, Chino!" Chino was my street name. I could not see the SWAT officer’s face, as he wore a mask to conceal his identity, but I recognized that far too familiar voice. It was Narcotics Sergeant Rivetti. Once outside, the embarrassment set in. My mother and grandmother were taken out of our home in handcuffs and sat against the curb in front of our home at 167 22nd street in South Central Los Angeles. I could hear my mother crying "No!" My grandmother was sobbing and screaming at me in Spanish, "usted es no bueno hombre." In Spanish that means I am a no-good grandson.
The police were searching my home. I knew the drill, and all the neighbors had come out of their homes in their pajamas to see what was going on. As I looked around I saw Miss Johnson, a church lady whom we played childhood pranks on for years. She looked at me and shook her fist and said to the police, "It's about time you caught that little dealer." I watched as the officers had found my stash of Rock. When I say “rock,” I mean crack cocaine. This is what I sold to my “patients” when they came to my window in the middle of the night for a fix. I called them my patients because I was like their twisted under-aged doctor providing them temporary relief from their sorry lives. It was how I earned my living; it was the only way to make a living in my family. I don't mean my household family; I mean my street family, the Crips, or as the Bloods called us "The Crabs."
I am a member of one of the most notorious street gangs in South Central Los Angeles, The Rolling 20's. We held the blocks from 20th street to 29th street all the way to Central Avenue. It was our turf, we protected it, sometimes with our lives.
It all started when I was 14 years old. I had seen this big fat guy driving a Lexus in my neighborhood. He always had a wad of cash in his pocket and wore expensive clothes, but he always had on a blue hat or Jersey to signify his colors. Looking up to his prestige, I wondered who he was and how he got to be so rich. One day while standing in front of my house, he said to me, "Hey, lil’ man. Yo ...

1. I was walking down the street late one night when there was a loud CRASH! I
turned around and saw a man lying in a car eyes wide open.
In another car a man got out and rubbed his hands together.I had a fair idea
what had just happened here. And Iadly wanted to didnt like it.The 2nd man walked
over quickly to the other car and threw his partner a bag of money.
That man must have been rich.the car was brand new and shiny.expensive brand.he
was wearin g a gold and white suit with epaletets and on the other hand the
other man wore all black and had a dirty old scratched car with the plate
removed.sopposubly so the police couldnt track them.i opened my mouth to scream
but a gloved hand slapped itself over my mouth and dragged me into the old car
and stuck some duct tape over my mouth then to shut me up.
they stole my bag and phone so i couldnt call the police witch i badly needed
to.the car drove on and on.Had i just been arested for being a witness of a
murder?
No.These wernt the police. They were the oppisite.Criminals.the car drove on and
i kept wondering whats going on?is this true or is it just a nightmare?
No.Its real.sigh.SCREECH!!! the car pulled to a stop outside a run down
abandoned apartment building.minutes later i was inside and being tyed to a
chair in a dull grey room that looked to be an old reseption area."do you think
the cops'll
find us here?",crimanal 1 asked crimanal 2 as i nicknamed them."i dont think
so,not as long as shes in here."they stared at me,that frecked me out."now dont
you try to escape girl or else".crimanal 2 said as he slid his hand across him
neck.
i slunck back in the chair thinking that night.what was i going to do? how to
escape?what about my mom and dad?they'll be so worried.after 2 weeks of living
off the crisps and coke in the room i was unnessisarily locked in considering i
was tied to a chair,
i had an idea.i waited till night to kick my plan to full gear.i picked up an
enpty coke can and snapped the ring of as quitly as possible.then used that to
cut the ropes.i ran around the room looking for something to pry the window
open.i found a crowbar and toke a picture of the
crimanals from the table.i pryed it open and ran down the path.the crimanals
heard me and crimanal 1 shouted for the other and they ran after me.it was very
late so i couldnt find any police.i ran to a late night shop and asked for the
phone."why?",the shopkeeper asked."im being chased by theifs give me the
phone!",
i shouted back.he threw me the phone and i dialed 999.just then the crimanals
came in shouting at the shopkeeper to hand my over.he refused and i told the
police everything.when i hung up the phone they ran and the police came.i
answered loads of questions about me and what happened then i gave them the
picture.
they knew them.they had escaped prison.after asking me to tell them everything
from begining to end they phoned my parents.they came in crying and when they
saw me safe and sound it was hugs around.i had to explain everything to them
again.
the police caught the crimanals and crimanal 2 shouted "this is not the last
you'll see of us you little brat!",as he was shoved into the police car.anfer a
while i got to go home and get back to normal.now im just happy that they are in
jail.but i know they will come back. And when they do,i'll be ready.
THE END
