The prophets envisioned a church that would be characterized by peace, purity, strength, and inclusiveness of all people. Specifically, (1) the church would have an inner peace that transcends worldly understanding; (2) it would be pure in doctrine, worship, and conduct; (3) it would endure doctrinal and internal troubles, rising above problems; and (4) the gospel would be for both Jews and Gentiles, bringing reconciliation to all in one body.
